I am a small school person. I decided to go back and check some of this with the 8th-10 grades. If Maripn Consolidates this fall they go 4A. Morton drops back and takes West Marion slot. 1A will be dropped to 51. One of the following drops to South 3A: Yazoo County, Choctaw County, or Noxubee County. 2A will have 5 regions in the south with one region going north depending on who those 5 will be. I think it could be the 2 Madison County Schools and 3 Rankin County Schools or 1 Rankin and 2 Scitt County Schools.

At least 6 non-football or independent schools in your listing which makes it just nonsensical, especially by including Our Lady Academy.

OLA has to be included. I did not include MSMS because they are 11-12 grades only. I don't know if they will count their 11th grade next year and if they will be 1A. The nonfootbsll schools including 13 in 1A have to be classified. St Andrew's, Sacred Heart, St Patrick have to be classified even if they stay independent for 23-24 and 24-25 school years for other sports. There will be in a region with 4 football playing schools and those 4 schools will be going to playoffs even if 0-10.

We're talking about MHSAA football, right? Why include OLA in your numbers? Or independent football programs... I appreciate the thought you put into it, but by including schools that don't participate it makes your assertions irrelevant. This is a MHSAA football thread, after all.

That's nice.

MHSAA football related classification? No.

Just a bunch of numbers and conjecture, and that's cool. I'd just clarify that it is what it is.

That's  the classifications presented to the committee in February starting with 7A on the back of the front page floating around. Those are the October 2021 numbers used in the discussion. The committee has since passed a proposal to only count 9th-11th grades. These numbers are now obsolete. I posted them to prove to you that they count all schools performing in at least 1 sport.

The dropping of a grade will not make that big of a deal! if you have 1000 kids in school that means about 250 a grade. So if you count if cut off is 800 to 1200 now for lets say 5A and under new count it will be 600 to 900 and you still turn in 750 you are going to be 5A will it help some school on the bubble one way or another maybe but also may hurt small schools who maybe have an average of 50 kids in a grade but have one class has 62 in it and that may bump them up. What if that is a Jr. class that is not there the second year of competition and now they are playing 2A ball with 1A numbers that second year. I understand not counting kids that are not going to be there the next year after the count is done but I do believe it gives you a more true representation of how many kids are in a school on average.

If your top 10 bottom 10 you will be on the bubble of going up or down.

I’m not sure where these numbers came from but I don’t think they are correct. I know Mize has more than 50 students in every single grade. I think we average between 55-60. We would have higher than 193.

The came from MDE Smith County  School District 8th-10th grade which indicates next year's 9th-11th grade and are accurate as of October 2021.
