They come to Wayne County next week to add to that it’s Homecoming so distractions everywhere. Wayne County is a good football team but also a young team who can’t afford to overlook anyone or lose focus for any reason. Florence comes in flying high we have to match their intensity.

Natchez High school may have the worse playing surface in the state. I've never seen grass so high on a football field nor have I seen so many holes covered on the sideline to keep players or coaches from stepping into them. That field has sprains and ACL tears written all over it.

You are absolutely correct!!! We lost our starting running back there last year to a broken ankle. All because of the grass being ankle high and the holes. It happened the week before we started our brutal stretch with Hattiesburg, Laurel and West Jones. So it possibly cost us a playoff spot as well.

It looked like they had just mowed it earlier in the day as well. You could have taken a rake and made a pile there was so much loose grass on the field

I am going to start on the new poll maybe Monday and try to have it out by Wednesday.

My whole takeaway for our region from Friday night was West Jones is going to be a handful.

Vott a lot of fans come and go. They all read the press clippings and hear how great their teams are. But not many stick with it through the hard times for sure. I was on the chain crew at Wayne County when we consolidated so I’ve seen my share of teams that were not great but I followed them wherever they played. Then we got very good I was still following. We went through a three year period when things weren’t what we had grown use to but I believe we’re heading back to the good days. But these new guys don’t won’t to have dialogue about their team they just want to talk trash. Let them take that to the Facebook high school page

They are not going to like their trip down to the cow pasture this Friday. That Laurel game was perfect for them. Team that scores quick ,fumbles a lot and gives the ball right back to their offense. They will have to execute all game mistake free. Laurel defense is full of slow heavy D’s too. The War Eagles are not. They will come get you. I know they are probably riding high but our coaches are looking to make this a statement game in our classification, so we will see.

 I was eating tamales and running with the natives at that time and only stated coming back around with Bobbyn Hall. But yea Wayne County was a laughing stock for a long time. We go back to kids. If anybodys got the scars it you

Homecoming won’t be an issue with our coaches. They know what’s at stake here too. This is a leg up towards the playoffs and a win will come in handy down the line.

What’s everyone’s thoughts ? No hard feelings either way. I don’t go out on limbs on here very much when it comes to Wayne County. I think we will see the team that played Oak Grove again Friday night .This time without the fumbles which will be more the enough. I think Wayne County is going to bad matchup for these guys.

Laurel edged Brookhaven 7-6 in a game of teams who seemed to want to let the other team win. Brookhaven went for 2 point try and failed was the difference. I bet both teams had 20 penalties. Just an ugly game.  And laurel seems to be getting worse every week.  They get a cakewalk the next 2 weeks (Natchez then south jones) before hosting west jones. And if they don’t straighten that ship by then WJ will embarrass them.

I tip my hat to Florence. They are a handful. You better be able to play defense or they will beat you.. Jalen war Jones. I’ve been saying it for two years. Kid is all state as a sophomore. That last TD there were three guys on him and he bodied two of them out and outjumped them all.  He shows up every game. I’m glad we got that one behind us.

 

 

I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see Florence again. They started running our offense after we played them last season and it showed. They knew what we were going to run but our defense knew them too. It finally came down to a war of toughness and we won but it wasn’t a cakewalk. Very well coached and don’t make game killing mistakes. They fumbled a punt in the fourth quarter and it cost them. They have the best kickoff  return game I’ve seen since the old Moss Point days. Squib it . Do not kick it to them .
