Family can sometimes be a hinderance to objective thinking in a business setting. I will consult with the graybeard committee for a resolution. What can he do besides raid the club frig and down all the chocolate milk ? Does he play for the tornadoes ?
You going to have to lay off the upsized double big one combos too. . That stuff is for the offseason. It makes you lethargic and your mind slow to react. You will be called upon before the season is over to prove your worth. We need you an point.

Anybody want to throw out a Week 2 top four as it sits today? Region 3 and Region 4.

Region 3

1. Laurel

2. Wayne County

3. West Jones

4. Florence

Region 4

1. Picayune

2. East Central

3. ?

4. ?

.

I think Hattiesburg in place of Florence..  Hattiesburg has played way tougher competition .Drop them out if they don’t make a good showing this Friday..

I don’t know about the coast. It’s basically the Maroon tide at the top with the beach boys fighting for second.

Hey Slick, go to the Ms High school sports page on FB. Pascagoula has pretty much said yall are on the clock.

I went to that page a few times. Every team is great over there.

Pascagoula needs to check their clocks because I think they might be broke. Didn’t last Friday they put up only six points against a team that has just air for defense? They have kept Louis Sims three years too long. You don’t even have to watch film on them, they run the same system Sims run in Moss Point almost twenty years ago. The only thing they have is those cheating refs you run into anywhere along I10.
I will be there. Can’t wait

Slick, I don't know what he's referring to but nobody -- NOBODY -- who supports Pascagoula should be boasting or flexing about the program.  There should have been a turnover after 3-8 and 1-10 seasons in 2017 and 2018 but the apathy in this town is too deeply rooted.

Wayne County will have a significant coaching advantage although Pascagoula will be easy to scheme regardless of the opposing coaching staff.  Expect an easy time of it.

If the team who took the field against Gautier takes the field against Wayne County, you will not have much trouble. Sims is a great man from all accounts, but something has to give in Pascagoula.

Region 4 I would probably have Gautier at 3 right now and George County at 4. Vancleave is right there fighting for a spot as well. West Harrison has certainly done well out of the gate, however the level of competition they have faced has not been very good so I believe the jury is still out on them. PRC and Long Beach are abysmal though. I expect Owen to be gone after this season.

So do we need to go ahead and start a PRC Coach's Hot Board?

If he were at a school concerned with having a winning football program I would say yes.

I just don't think the status quo will ever change up there in Carriere.  I wish it would because those boys deserve to have a good football team, but with the powers that be up there (or lack of) I don't think things will change.  If they do, I'll be pleasantly surprised.  I have great respect for Cayne, but is he even running the show up there?

Nothing is going to give because there is no demand for anything better than the results since 2015 except the fluke playoff appearance/run in 2020 which would not have happened had the Wayne County game been played.

Its.kind of sad from a nostalgic point of view. Pascagoula definitely has the student body to compete in football.  All it takes is the right man to come in and win a few games. Locals will get behind a winner. Is the Superintendent being an ass about the situation?  They are right there at Alabama. There are coaches the that have put in their retirement and would definitely take over a program with the facilities there. You just have to go get them.

I expect Sims to throw the kitchen sink at us the first few minutes then do do what he always does. It’s like he pulls his plays out of a raffle bucket. There is no rhyme or reason to them. No strategy involved. When he was at Moss Point they came into Wayne County in the playoffs and hung with us for three quarters. They had two running backs that got the edge on us every time they carried it. We couldn’t stop them. For some reason he started passing the ball on two out of three plays and we were able to stop that.. We got the win but he handed us the game. I knew that game he was out of his element coaching.

Man if WH slips in at #4 they would probably feel like they’ve won the powerball.  They ain’t never had a winning season, but heck they really don’t need to.

Pearl River Central Long Beach and Vancleave are beatable. Probably have to beat George Co. Picayune East Central and Gautier are losses.

This path for them seems feasible if they can overcome the youth of George County.  I really don’t know how region 4 is going to shake out though.

I think it is more plausible for them this year than in years past. I think they have a decent coach and they seem to play scrappy.

Yes, the cupboard is stocked.  Not necessarily championship stock but there are plenty of bodies and athletes in the underclassmen ranks.

Pascagoula has a first year Superintendent and AD.  I expect the team to finish below .500 for the fourth time in the last seven seasons.  He's only finished above .500 once since 2015 which was the 2020 pandemic year in which they won by forfeit over WC.  Coach Sims is going to retire either after this school year or the next more than likely.  I expect he moves across town to Resurrection which is a landing spot for so many ex-Pascagoula coaches.  So it's likely he leaves on his own terms sooner rather than later.  That's fine -- might as well give him that latitude and he's well liked from a personal standpoint, including by me.

I'm not going to deep dive into the reversal of fortune which has occurred under his watch because it's a long, winding explanation.  But it's long past time for a change and I'd like the administration to look to Alabama as well.  None of the better MS coaches -- of which there are few -- will be interested in this job so it would behoove our AD to look next door.  They play on a different level over there and it we would be wise to test the waters.

I've withheld comment for a few weeks but this year's Vancleave team is playing a much more physical brand of football.  Peterson does not shy from contact out of the backfield, the offensive line looks much more polished, and the defense has looked much more fundamentally sound.  If they can get last year's 3 wins again vs Long Beach, West Harrison, and Pearl River Central, plus find a way to get to 4 wins by defeating George County or East Central, they have the potential to get in as #4 and I would not be shocked to see a #3 but that's not as likely.  2020's EC loss was by two with an EC tackle on the 1 yard line as time expired and 2021 was a 7 point loss.  Vancleave gets a home game vs EC this year for first time in 3 years.  Can't wait to see how it all shakes out for sure.
