Egg Bowl moving to Black Friday afternoon

Recommended Posts

And the Arizona State game is supposed to kick-off at 9:30pm our time.  As far as the Egg Bowl goes, it's probably a decent time slot and you'll have more eyes on it.  It possibly conflicts with high school playoff games and that's probably the only draw back to the date and time slot.

I like this move.

Yes it’s a good move.  It’ll just be a quick turnaround to the North and South State Championships.  Depending on if someone in the Lafayette County surrounding area has a game that night, you could possibly swing both.

Much better than Thanksgiving Night.

After the NFL muscled in on Thursday night, the appeal of that slot fell like a navy ship anchor.

Friday afternoon is a good time slot.
Only I have nightmares of the 2008 game that was played on Friday. Hopefully we don’t have a repeat of that this year.

Overall it is a win for both squads and Mississippi in general.

NFL is playing on "Black Friday" also... I'm not sure if it's the same time as the Egg Bowl or not.

Either way, I'd much rather watch the Egg Bowl on Friday instead of trying to do Thanksgiving and trying to watch the game at the same time.

SEC actually put out kickoff windows for every game already. Amazingly there’s a chance that neither State nor Ole Miss has an SEC home game at night, which is crazy. The most each will have is one.

I know a lot of OM fans unhappy about the Oklahoma game already being given an early kickoff time. Same for State with the Florida game but I think there’s less of a gripe for that situation. Overall I think State got handed maybe a little bit better time windows than OM, relatively speaking.
