I will take a stab at this. Will try and include most all of the classifications.  These are in no particular order.

1. Oak Grove

2. Brandon

3. Columbia

4. West Point

5. Louisville

6. West Jones

7. East Webster

8. Madison Central

9. Tupelo

10.  Jeff Davis County

There are so many more that I could include. Also, I am sure there are quite a few I forgot.

South Panola would be really, really hard to beat.

Is this based on salary or degree of admin to allow a coach to actually coach?

The best jobs in Mississippi high school football are Jackson Prep and MRA. For both -

Pay- near the top of the pay scale (if not the highest paying jobs), and if you've already maxed your state retirement, you can double dip

Facilities- very good

Own staff - staff continuity is important in both places, so a new head coach can't just turn over an entire staff; so, if that's a negative, then this is the only one

Community support - very good

Community expectations- high

Admin support - very good

Alumni/Parent Politics/Interference - very little, generally affluent parent base (by MS standards) which also makes fundraising relatively easy

Talent pool - among the private schools, probably the highest pools of homegrown talent; additionally, both schools (and especially MRA) have shown a willingness to supplement the homegrown talent pool with a few talented recruits

Tradition - the highest tradition of winning at all MAIS sports

Difficulty to win - its a 3 team league, Prep/MRA/Hartfield; it remains to be seen whether Hartfield has staying power after losing its largest benefactor

Petal is at the top or maybe top 5 due to facilities and pay.  But they are not top 10 for support, nor talent.  Especially talent. Where it’s very evident they can’t win big consistently.  Coaches go there for money. Not if they want titles.

Petal rarely fills that stadium unless Oak Grove or HHS rolls into the Friendly City!

To be honest. A lot of the bigger schools have trouble filling their stadiums. Heck attendance as a whole has dropped throughout the years.

Streaming has cut down on attendance. Plus kids these days would rather sit at home and scroll tiktok than be around actual people. I'd say Petal has more support than most though. Big Church and School support. Most high schools would love to have those facilities. That press box is super nice. I like the way the band is over the tunnel from the field house and the players run by the panther statue on the way out. Also you can film from the top of the field house from what I remember. I think the hedges were a bit too high for my liking. But overall I'd say it's the favorite of stadiums I've visited.

We removed the hedges when we redid the turf! You should come pay another visit. No doubt the most outstanding facilities overall in the state.

I know there are  pockets of fan bases that still support in a strong way, but it has declined overall in the past 20 years .

But most can fill them a couple times a year or at least every other year for a game.  Petal has filled theirs like 3 times since it was built.  They built it so big to compensate for their small pee-pee syndrome they have in regards to oak grove having the most unique stadium in the state at the time and having basically perfect capacity (6,00-7,000 seems to be a sweet spot) and petal couldn’t stand it. They know they can’t and will not ever consistently compete with OG in anything other than their ability to inflate their own sense of self importance. But hey, they got a bigger stadium.

The thing that is funny is that 25 years ago both programs weren’t really successful at all . Heck oak grove was a laughing stock back in the 80’s and 90’s . Credit to them for improving though .
