Dawg83
State-LSU… where the heck do you even start with this game? Two teams that have not looked good, two bad offenses to this point, two frustrated fanbases…. This has big time train wreck potential. Last year’s game is infamous now, with KJ Costello being the one hit wonder and Bo Pelini refusing to make any adjustments whatsoever. I cannot for the life of me fathom that LSU will be that stupid about their defense again this year. But I do like State’s defense a lot and expect them to keep State in the game. I don’t have a ton of faith in Johnson or Rogers, but whoever has the better game probably wins the game. I think this is a super ugly game, and I’ll stick to my guns and give State a close win at home that would all but guarantee Orgeron is done after this year. And for old time’s sake I’ll say it’s the same score as another infamous Coach O loss in Starkville. State wins 17-14. A&M-Arkansas is the SEC game of the week and I’m fascinated to see how this goes. I like A&M a lot at every position outside QB, and that’s not a great position to have question marks. I don’t think Arkansas is quite as good as their ranking indicates but it’s obvious that Pittman has total buy in and they have really improved over the last couple of years. I think A&M should be the better all around team so I’ll take the Aggies by a TD, but this should be a competitive game and the Hogs could win it. Not a big week of games in general but these weeks seem to be when upsets happen, so I guess we will keep our eyes and ears open.
rebmus
Yep, the SEC slate is pretty MEH on paper this weekend outside of the two games you mentioned. The LSU/MSU loser will have a coach with a very heated seat... more Orgeron than Leach. (Leach is in year 2, so he survives unless he finishes 3-9... even then he may survive and I don't see him finishing 3-9). LSU is ready to move on, I can see Orgeron being fired if he goes 7-5. Flip a coin and pick a winner based off that... no way I'd put money on this game. A&M/Arkansas is definitely the SEC game of the week. Right now, I'd put A&M/Arkansas/Auburn/OM names in a hat and just draw for 2-5 in the West. The winner of this game puts themselves in position to take that #2 spot (maybe even the #1 if Bama proves not to be a normal Bama team). Missouri/Boston College should be a pretty good game also. I'm not sure how many care who wins outside of those two fanbases, but it could be a very entertaining game to watch. Biggest SEC blowout of the weekend? I'll go with Bama over USM. After last week's close game, Saban won't pump the brakes in this game I'd wager. Out of the SEC slate: The UCLA/Stanford and Kansas State/Oklahoma State games look to have potential of being good games to watch.
pancho
I agree on the hot seat part for the loser of the LSU/MSU game. If Rogers can just all of a sudden chunk 2 TD passes in 1 minute to suddenly catch up, then why can't he throw deep at other junctures? LSU has several major contributors coming back for this game so I won't rule out some sad MSU fans in this one. A&M/Hogs will be a good one. Ark has a strong 4 games ina row which will ultimately tell how improved Pittman has them. Mizzou/BC mite be the most fun game of the week that not many folk see so u do have a point with it. I have a friend with a son on USM and he's hoping to enjoy some good food and festivities in T town because the game won't be good. UCLA might throttle Stanford but you just never can tell how REAL a pac 12 team really is. K state /okla state should be an old fashioned hard nose slobber knocker
Dawg83
Such a weird spot for State right now. Everything seems like it’s going terrible but if you beat a not great LSU team on your home field, suddenly you’d somehow find yourself at 3-1. I think most would have taken that before the season. But at this point you definitely feel like the most realistic path to 6 wins for State involves winning this game. Otherwise you’re gonna have to steal a road win somewhere or win the Egg Bowl, and the odds would probably not be in your favor. MSTSatchmo
LSU 34 State 24 I believe LSU has more talent. A&M 28 Arkansas 24 I’m still trying to figure out both of these teams. Is A&M better than they’ve played? Is Arkansas as good as they’ve played? I think the Iowa State/Baylor game will be entertaining.
J-Trill88
LSU definitely won’t be the same team from last year. This game is definitely a must win for both coaches. I hate morning games but I will be watching from up top in the nosebleeds like Sting during WCW. LOL. I don’t know which fan base is more frustrated but I do know this: If MSU don’t win this game, oh will those tones change from months ago about Leech. Many changed this past weekend (minus the cheat code by the refs). State has to win this one to be more a valid 6 win team. Because it won’t get easier after this game with TAMU and Bama coming up as well. Offense has to get better, O-line has to sustain blocks. Penalties has to be lessen. And defense has to ball out. pancho
O line ain't designed to hold blocks for 5-7 seconds but neither is the offense designed for the QB to hold the ball for 5-7 seconds either.......make of it what you wish
Bulldogs4
Neither Leach or Orgeron will be on the hot seat if they lose Saturday. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and not micromanage every game. Both of these coaches did not forget how to coach just because they lost a game. Leach has been a HC for 20 years and O about 10 years. They know what they are doing. Each squad has some issues. LSU seems weaker at the LOS this year than I remember them being in the recent years. However they still have a lot of talent and definitely has some playmakers on offense. Their defense is solid though it did struggle against the run game with UCLA (something they will not have to worry about Saturday). For State, it is pretty simple. Clean up the penalties, avoid costly turnovers and dumb mistakes and just play with great consistent effort and execution for 60 minutes. Simple to say but obviously much more difficult to actually do. Which State team will show up? We will see what happens Saturday. I like Arkansas to finally beat A&M who I think is way overrated. I think USM covers the 46 point spread just because that is a lot of points. Does Florida have a hangover and slip up against Tennessee? Possible but not likely. KY lubes USCe in an ugly game. Missouri beats BC. Iowa State defeats Baylor.
MSTSatchmo
I think Orgeron will be. He has never been able to coach, just recruit and motivate, oh and hired a passing guru one year.

Chizik caught lightening in a bottle to win a NC, as did Orgeron.
rebmus
Appalachian State beat Marshall 31-30 tonight in a who cares/entertaining game tonight.
Bulldogs4
I actually watched the first half and thought both teams played well. You have to give credit to App. State. They are the modem version of what USM used to be. They have developed niche program that plays good football and they can play with just about anybody on any given Saturday (or Thursday) anywhere. Dawg83
Leach is not remotely on the hot seat this year. Orgeron could be out by Monday if he loses this game. I firmly believe both of those things.

I firmly believe both of those things. I don't think Leach will get fired this year, but I do think fans will start calling for his head if he doesn't make a bowl game. Most MSU fans agree that losing to LSU tomorrow makes the path to a bowl game this year a good bit tougher. Miss a bowl game this year AND next year, he's gone. rebmus
MSU is a pretty good 4th quarter team.
pancho
They are good at trailing in the 4th for sure. I think it's a train wreck slowly happening.
MSTSatchmo
One busted coverage and secondary collision from a win. Lol. That was needed to reach 6 wins.
Dawg83
That was eerily similar to Memphis, minus the big ref screw up. This is a text book example of a not very good team finding ways to lose. I lean toward thinking these are the two worst teams in the West and both will have to scratch and claw to get to six wins, and both might not. I walked away totally underwhelmed by LSU. Maaaybe State has an upset in them somewhere if they put it all together, but it feels like everything has to go right for this team to win. If any one play goes wrong on a drive they are toast most of the time.
