Bulldogs4
CC I was not able to go but did listen on the radio. Excited to get the win. Hopefully we can get some injured players back in the coming weeks. Kids seem to be playing hard and that bodes well for the future. Prayers for the Levi Madison family. That is sad. Dubaction
I’m interested in seeing how the current batch of kids from both Oak Grove and Meridian view their matchup with each other this week. They haven’t played a competitive game against each other in quite some time now (didn’t play at all last season).
mout25
Hey Dub,OG has beaten Meridian 3 straight games, but it seems like it has been more games than that. Meridian doesn't have a true rival, and OG was the closest thing we had to a rivalry because 6A South always came down to these schools for a decade. I don't think the Meridian kids see this as a rival because they've gotten beaten by everyone the last 3 seasons. I don't think these current OG players see it as a rivalry because all they know is blowing Meridian out.
ogwarriorbandman
Both teams will be up for this game you can count on that. Should be more interesting this Friday. Like Causey said a few times this is not last years team. I have been frustrated watching at times this year as well. No doubt we have to improve…. Bulldogs4
We are improved and a win over OG would be huge at this point. Obviously, the rivalry has cooled some because OG has dominated it recently and like Dub said, we did not get to play last year. But, I think the kids have heard from former players and fans that this is an important game. I think each will be fired up come Friday. I know we have been bit by the injury bug so I hope some of our players will be back in action for this game. We will see what happens.,
ccbulldog
At one time this was the most heated intense rivalry in all of south Miss. You could cut the tension with a knife at these games. And strange things happened in these games too. Even the cheerleaders didn't get along. It was high school football at its most enjoyable. But sadly those days are gone. Attendance seems to be off at all high school games this year. I think covid took a toll and it still hasn't recovered.
Bulldogs4
I would think we will see the biggest crowd Ray Stadium has had in the last four-five years this Friday night but it will still be minuscule compared to 10-15 years ago. I like that our kids are playing hard. OG has the edge on us in talent/depth across the board but if we can avoid turnovers and be solid on special teams then I believe we will have a chance in this game to win it. A couple of big IF’s, but at least I have some confidence in us which is a huge improvement from 2-3 years ago.
HammerDown74
If I was Meridian, I'd tell Daniel Hill he's about to go win this game for Meridian. He's a stud.

The Vaughn kid is a freak also. If he gets the edge not many people in the state that catch him.
mout25
Offense hasn’t been our problem this season. Daniel Hill could help us win a lot of games if he played defense full time as well. He’s our best LB,but he doesn’t play defense full time. We’ve had a lot of injuries on defense. The 2 games we’ve lost we gave up almost 600 yards rushing. He would immediately fix that problem, but we have to have him playing offense full time.
ccbulldog
The answer is definitely not. That 3rd quarter was embarrasing!
Bulldogs4
Third quarter was awful. The penalty on the TD was the turning point. We would have been up two scores with some momentum. OG probably still wins the game but it would have been much tighter down the stretch. After that too many turnovers and mistakes. Plus OG has very good team. Good teams take advantage of opportunities and they did just that.
Dubaction
Tale of two halves. OG with two costly interceptions had us down a couple of scores and we returned the favor in the second half and didn’t let up. At any rate, Meridian is definitely a playoff team. Take care of business and we can dance again next month.

mout25
I know it might be premature, but with Hill being 6'1" 220,he has a chance to be the #1 ranked RB in the country by the time he's a senior. He's bigger than Germantown's Branson Robinson now,and he's better as a sophomore than Robinson. Robinson is the #1 RB in the country by at least 1 recruiting service. HammerDown74
Everybody is talking about the 3rd quarter, but I think that is just a growing pain. A lot of these kids playing haven't played football before and definitely haven't been winning. Just the mindset of waiting on something to go wrong. I still think Meridian gets in the playoffs and gives someone all they want in the 1st Round.
