This will be a great ballgame. Hopefully Hattiesburg leaves the cute play calling at home and comes out gets after it. In my opinion, that is what held Hattiesburg back a lot the past two seasons. Petal barely had 200yds offense tonight. And 83yds came on the td pass. Ocean Springs next week. We will really see how tough our defense is. I have nothing bad to say about the defense. 7 of petal points came off busted coverage. I felt good about the whole game. Offense is a process. Defense was on the field wayyy to long. OS along with the others will be a tough outing but I’m excited. The offense will get better. Only 3 kids were starters last year and a freshman at QB. I watched some of the game and that offense looks like something you would run in 2A.The whole 5A in the south is ass outside of West Jones and I'm not too sold on them. Picayune beat Poplarville but I don't think they have the depth to go the whole season. They faded down the stretch last season although Covid forfeits could help them stay fresh. I guarantee you Hattiesburg will improve from this game to the very last 100%. How do you think Wayne county will perform. Will they be ass as well? I do not have the exact numbers but I had been hearing all week the game was on verge of being cancelled. WJ was rumored to hold practices with half the overall roster all week. I was told not just 6 starters were out but 6 of the returning 12 starters. But there were more players than that that did not make the trip. 2 kids said to be in the hospital. I know at south jones there are over 60 kids out and 13 teachers. Teachers are complaining that the school district is trying to not go virtual but the infections are climbing too fast. I don't think you can overcome that in three months. I'm not a homer and don't find moral victories in offensive improvement over the course of the season. You either have it or you don't I call it like I see it . You can throw around terms like spread, pistol , I formation or whatever but it was a uncoordinated mess. I’m not saying your wrong to a certain extent I see where your coming from, and I don’t believe in moral victories a loss is never morally satisfying no matter how I may come off. I don’t think we can judge the defenses either with such poor play on the other side but that was the upside for both… Either way it’s going to be a long season for both teams IMO.
