Week 9 Thread

Auburn at Ole Miss - OM is a 12.5 point home favorite. Auburn has the best road win in the sport so far, but has been super underwhelming otherwise. I honestly don’t think OM has a ton of issues in this one, especially in Oxford. I don’t think Auburn can score enough to keep up. I have OM winning 37-21.

State at Texas - life after Kamario (for this season at least) officially begins. A lot of rumblings AJ Swann might get the start at QB. I don’t see it making much of a difference though. Texas should win this easily, something like 38-7. The following two weeks are far more important games for State and for Lebby, IMO.

Florida vs Georgia - game being played in Atlanta this season due to construction in Jacksonville. I don’t think Georgia is losing again in the regular season, and I think they win this by about 14.

South Carolina at Oklahoma - Shane Beamer is a cat with 9 lives and he’s used 7 or 8 of them. I’m taking SC in this one. I think they are figuring it out at the right time and now their schedule lines up pretty nicely the rest of the way for them to get to 7 or 8 wins. I also think Oklahoma stinks.

Mizzou at Arkansas - Look at Arkansas with their 3 wins! Unfortunately I don’t think any more are coming this season.

USM at ULM - Eagles get their second win in a row. Maybe the tide is starting to turn for them just a little bit.

Auburn-Ole Miss. Auburn caught lightning in a bottle against Georgia but I don’t see it happening again. Ole Miss wins comfortably 30-14.

State-Texas. Conventional wisdom says this should be a blow out but I actually look for State to play well and keep the game closer than expected. Texas 31-20.

Florida-Georgia line. Georgia takes care of business 28-14.

South Carolina, gonna keep riding with them over an Oklahoma team that is simply not very good. SC 34-17.

Missouri 28, Arkansas 27. Game will be closer than expected.

USM 42, ULM 28

LSU beats Open Date in a night game in Red Stick to mollify their whiny coach and fans.

Minnesota with the upset of the day over Indiana 17-16.

Indiana has used just about all of their nine lucky rabbits.

State’s only breaks have been bad breaks as in injuries. Defense actually played well last night. Held Texas to 60 yards rushing.
If we can find a way to scratch out a win against Vandy, I think all of our mindsets will be better.
Can’t fault the effort as our guys are playing hard.

Ole Miss did what I expected. Game stayed close for a half and then pulled away in the second half.

should have been gone 2 or 3 years ago, been holding Florida State back all this time.

10-3 in 2022 and 13-1 in 2023.

He earned a pass for the 2 win season in 2024 I’d say.
5-7 last year, shaky but I guess FSU held on for this year to see if he’d build on the improvement from 24. The question I have, did FSU extend his contract this past offseason knowing his seat was hot?

I think tonight has softened my stance on Lebby’s future.

This team has had insanely tough injury luck.

I don’t know how to properly or fairly evaluate State the rest of the year with how much of a M.A.S.H. Unit they are.

That's right.  The stance is soft.  Like Lebby standing on quicksand soft.

I think common sense dictates that he gets one more year with the expectation that we are going to dramatically strengthen the roster with enough depth to withstand injuries and especially upgrade the offense line.

Defensively I think we will be in good shape going forward with the same expectation of developing better depth.

Given all that has happened this year, it is easy for fans to pile on and be sarcastic and demeaning where he is concerned.
IMO that does not help the situation any. I am going to hang in there with this team and see how the year finishes out.

Growing up in the 1960’s when we had zero success (with the exception of 1963), we are light years better today even with the current struggles this team is having currently. As I mentioned before, a win Saturday will do wonders for everyone.

I do think State can make improvements regarding the offensive line and coaching of the offensive line.  Loadholt has been as effective as a lead weight on fishing line.  At least he's done what a lead weight should do if that's any consolation to you.

Going into the game Saturday I think State had 8 starters out on both sides. Swan was having a pretty good game and the offense was consistently better before his injury. Every team goes through injuries, but losing a QB the likes of KT is hard to overcome. No one has a back up of that quality ready to play, especially in the portal ear. Even Ohio State QB play dropped off and they lost.

This was a good football team prior to KT's injury. Look at the dominating wins over Minn, SC, and Mizzu. With KT State is probably 5-3 at worst. Lebby needs to make a change at OL coach. Loderhoult's recruiting hasn't been good enough to overcome his deficiency as oline coach. There has been improvement overall since Lebby got here. The defensive talent when he got here was terrible with a few exceptions, they are improving under Arnett. As bad as the Oline has been when they play just decent, we have seen over the last two years what this offense can do. We MUST go get some dudes up front on both sides of the ball for next year. Then if it isn't better, make a change. I really don't think KT stays without Lebby, with Lebby I would put it at 95% he stays.
