pancho
pretty sure Simmons made his feelings known to Lane in the face to face department , therefore Lane knew not to follow up........
Bulldogs4
Well I need to qualify myself, LSU could be a winnable game provided we are at full strength. Texas will be very difficult but we have played well against them the last two years. Ole Miss is more of a toss up presently than it was at the beginning of the season. But much can happen over the next 7-8 weeks.

The glaring issue is QB play is inconsistent. Levitt is talented enough to lead them to 10-2 and inconsistent enough to lead them to 8-4. Lane should have tried harder to get Simmons to LSU, maybe he did??? I know I’d trust Simmons over Levitt. I think LSU will just get better as the year goes on offensively. I think that Kiffin knows what he has in Levitt and will put him in the right situations.

Bama still wins the game but we hurt ourselves severely with unforced errors between turnovers and penalties. Two penalties on 3rd and 24 and on a FG attempt lead to 14 points. That’s tough. Dawg83 Posted yesterday at 12:23 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 12:23 AM (edited) AP Poll is pretty worthless in this era but I did find it interesting that State only dropped one spot to 17. Mizzou crushing Florida like they did probably helped State from a perception standpoint. Although now State is ranked behind a Mizzou team they just beat a week ago, so that’s kinda silly. But not the only instance of something like that in the polls. LSU is now ahead of Ole Miss in the coaches poll, for example. I’ll start putting stock into any polls in about a month when the CFP polls start rolling out. The Minnesota thrashing could age very well throughout the year. That was a good B10 team

But yeah, Minnesota is probably their usual 7 or 8 win selves this year so that’s a solid win. i do think the Mizzou win is doing most of the heavy lifting because that’s now a Top 15 team that played like a Playoff contender on Saturday

They’re probably a #14-22 rank by the time it’s all said and done. The B tier for the SEC is stacked this year, State, Mizzou, Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee. Going to be a blood bath in the SEC. We may have 5 teams in the playoffs this year
pancho
texas, georgia, bama and 2 others.......I'm not sure there are 2 more who can play consistent enough to make it
Dawg83
If you want to play the schedule game with all the 1 loss SEC teams: State - still has to play LSU, Texas and OM, all on the road. Playoff seems unlikely, but they’re good enough to maybe win one of those games and potentially finish with 8 or 9 wins. Ole Miss - still has to play Texas and Georgia and has to win at least one of them. Also would need to beat Mizzou and State, among others. If you made me call it today I have OM in the 8-4 or 9-3 range too. But think they’re more likely to make the Playoff than State. I can be convinced they finish 10-2 if they find some semblance of a defense, LSU - still has Bama and Texas at home, and also has State and plays Kentucky and Tennessee on the road. Can they get through all that with only losing one of those games? I’m skeptical.’ I think they finish 9-3. Mizzou - still has to travel to Oxford and Athens, and plays Texas at home. I feel like they’re losing at least 2 of those. Tennessee - probably the easiest overall remaining schedule but they still host Bama and LSU. Will have to win one of those. Florida - still has to play Texas and Georgia. Also makes a trip to Kentucky. Kentucky - they’re done playing the UGA/Bama/Texas tier but have a lot of games against that next tier still. I think they’re good but feel like more of a 7-5 or 8-4 type team at best. And that doesn’t account for the possibility that Bama, UGA, or Texas could fade at some point. But definitely feels like there will be a huge log jam of 8 or 9 win teams, and if anyone can find a way to get to 10-2 they’re a playoff lock. pancho
State fades unless by a miracle the QB and RB bothwell are 90% by the oklahoma game. The D is riddled with injuries and has a weak front 7 which will be exposed against good teams with SEC caliber talent. I'm still not convinced Ole miss can beat mizzou or auburn at home much less georgia and texas. Bryan Brown has never been a defensive genius and pete may show us all why Saban cut him loose if we just give him time. LSU does probably make it at 9-3. Mizzou won't beat georgia or texas. The vols will crap the bed unless the QB position miraculously heals itself. Florida probably loses the 3 games you mention. Kentucky is a wild card but I agree with your assessment. The winner of the georgia at Bama game will go undefeated. The loser will only have that loss in the regular season. The only game Texas might slip up in is the game at LSU especially if its dark out.
Dawg83
Yeah there’s part of me that wonders if State plays it safe with injuries for the LSU game so that guys can maybe be healthier by Oklahoma. Billy Puckett starting at QB in Tiger Stadium would be something else…. Although if you were around for the Croom era, you’ve seen worse.
