Setting up a running thread for the season to drop the weekly episodes of the Varsity Voices podcast (State Championships Radio Network).

They do two shows a week throughout the high school football season:

  • Sunday Night / Monday Morning: Full weekend recap of Friday night action across the state.
  • Mid-Week (Wednesday): Game previews, key matchups, and storylines for the upcoming week.

Since these are recorded live, I’ll post the links in this thread as soon as they drop each week.

Week 1 Recap:

This thing's impossible to watch.  The Warren Central guy and the Germantown guy have their microphones muted.

It's not that bad when I watch. I mean, yeah it's lower for those two guys but not unwatchable by any means.

People really just shouldn’t cover the small schools if you don’t anything about them. Wesson has never even played Heidelberg in 2A. They definitely didn’t play them last year. Wesson lost to Mize last year.

I noticed that. They missed that one. They do know a good bit about all classifications though. More so than the majority of the podcasts out there. I listened to them all last year and so far this year, and they do a good job 1a-7a. They covered that mize/wesson game a good bit on the show last year too. I guess they just forgot

You are right. And I get that the larger schools are gonna get most of the coverage. In the MSGridiron preseason rankings and coverage, they had one of our players as one of the top defensive linemen to watch in the state, and he isn’t even in school anymore. He hasn’t been in school since Christmas break of last year. And they still had him mentioned as one of our best players in their write up last week with our game against PCS. He quit school back in December and went and got a job.

Oh wow didn’t realize that. But yeah I’ve noticed all the podcasts, both the previews and the recaps, none  of them knew 0 was out. Which I get it. That kind of stuff is hard to know for every game. But man if he plays yall beat PCS with ease
