That tracks because that should have been Holmes County Central. And if Leake is combining, I'd expect them to jump up to 5A and be in that district with Holmes. So Holmes may have had to rearrange its schedule because of it.

Kosciusko Football posted that they are looking for a Week 3 opponent for this fall. The original Week 3 opponent would have been Leake Central. Now this isn't quite the smoking gun, but it's looking like that consolidation could be happening as early as this upcoming year.

The story I was told was that the when consolidation happened, they let the students vote on mascot and colors. And somehow they miraculousy both settled on Gators and orange/black. Not only that, the initials of the school are all the same: LCHS, which made sense for Leake Central, but going from South Leake to Leake County didn't feel like it was needed. But yes, Most folks believe it was done with anticipation that at some point they would combine. And then you wouldn't have to do a complete rebrand. All the uniforms, helmets, logos, etc are all the same.

Rumor floating around that McAdams and Ethel could be consolidated starting for the 2027-2028 school year. But that's something that always goes around when relcassification comes up. Kinda like at some point, Leake County and Leake Central are gonna combine. But just thought I'd mention it.

Greenwood is always talented. Played Cleveland Central relatively close and they took Kosciusko to overtime last year. Yazoo City is 2-2 but no real big wins. Gentry hasn't won a game yet. Would expect the standing to play out like this 1) Kosciusko/Louisville 2) Kosciusko/Louisville 3) Greenwood 4) Yazoo City

If any teams in the north can dethrone Louisville, the most likely candidates are Clarksdale and Kosciusko. Maybe Senatobia.

Pretty wild that No. 1 and No. 3 on the list play each other to kick off the season. -

Teams like Weir and Bassfield get mentioned at the end with an explanation on why they were left out. -
Just wanting to bump this to see if any new rivalry names have emerged due to consolidation or the switch to 7 classifications. Thanks!

This is a directory we are working on to have one page where fans can go find a live stream or a radio broadcast of schools. It's just MHSAA schools at the moment. But if you know of a school stream we need to add, please feel free to let us know. Thanks! https://www.scrn.live/broadcasts

Thanks Blake! Once we get everything up and running, I'll post the links to the podcast in here....if it's allowed. Don't want to break any forum rules. But I do think the podcast will be good information and entertainment for the MST faithful. Sort of a week to week overview of what's happening across the state.

Will the championship games be televised or streamed?
TheRadioGuy replied to Wareaglefan1us's topic in Football
The State Championship Radio network will carry radio broadcasts of all the games on ESPN 105.9 in Jackson and all MPB stations across the state. https://www.scrn.live/ The games will also be available on YouTube. BUT since NFHS has exclusive video rights, there won't be video of the game. It will be an in-booth camera of the commentators. https://www.youtube.com/@StateChampRadio -
Great game last night between two good teams. Louisville's defense is legit, but Kosciusko is a scrappy bunch and never gave up. Here's the link to the game replay if anyone wants to watch

Really looking forward to this game. Kosciusko only lost to West Lauderdale by 6 points and they were down their first two QBs when the game started. So they started a WR/RB at QB and he went down in the 3rd so the Whippets had to bring in a freshman who had never played QB until this season. I think the story of the game will be if Kozy's offense is able to get something going against Louisville's stout defense. Kozy's defense has played well. They have 5 or 6 Pick 6s on the season so they are always a threat to score if they get their hands on the ball.
