Tupelo Christian, St Patrick, and Resurrection don’t have many MAIS options that wouldn’t involve significantly more travel. I’ll be curious how this plays out. Supposedly a few are saying they will go independent to give them more time.

St Patrick's number for October 2025 US News and World Report for October 2025 makes them likely 5A. Travel the coast it will be unless they go Region 3. Region 3 will send them to Natchez and Brookhaven travel it is. The deadline to move to MAIS may be past if the current reclassification runs thru 2027. Playing independent in football would be a nightmare scheduling wise. After September 99% of teams are playing region games. And who would want to play independently knowing that before the season that you have no shot at competing for a playoff spot?

They have done it in the past Some teams it will next to impossible for them to compete. St. Pats wouldn't be able to compete in 5A outside of soccer. Resurrection almost didn't have enough kids to finish football in 1A shifting to 2A will be tough for them too. 4 hours ago, Rebel Bert said: St Patrick's number for October 2025 US News and World Report for October 2025 makes them likely 5A. Never mind projections are; Region 3: South Jones, Wayne County, Natchez, Florence, Laurel, Brookhaven, North Pike Region 4: Gautier, Stone County, Vancleave, East Central, St Patrick

Olcoach77
So what’s the odds that this applies to Choctaw Central since they are considered private and a boarding school…I think we all know the answer to this question.
pancho
I haven't heard them mentioned. Are they really included in this?
Chunky6617
I don’t think Choctaw central will be affected.

They are a boarding school, they don’t have a defined district and pull kids from all over.

Boarding schools are doubled. I somehow want to say they are plenty of Choctaw around Philadelphia that many lived with parents.

Doesn’t change the fact that they have on campus dorms for students who are not from within the area. How many schools in MHSAA have on campus housing for students? I only know of three. Two of those three will have the 1.5 multiplier added to them.
