Dawg83
Day 1 bracket for Omaha is set: West Virginia vs Troy Ole Miss vs North Carolina I don’t see Troy as a threat to make it out of that but they could definitely win a game or so. Feels like the OM/UNC winner is going to be the favorite, but don’t discount West Virginia’s chances either. You’d much rather be on that side of the bracket than the side that’s got Texas and Georgia in it.
David44
Well, it official now. 5 SEC teams after Alabama and Oklahoma advanced today. May as well refer to it as the "Hoover Invitational". At least 1 SEC team in the championship, since a whole side of the bracket is all SEC. I think Ole Miss has a good chance too, from the other side. Georgia / Texas vs Ole Miss? Bama was a team that everyone thought wasn’t as good as their seed, and I still think they benefited from a fairly easy path to Omaha, but hey you don’t get this far without being good. Can’t dismiss them anymore. Ole Miss was a trendy pick to make a deep run because of their pitching staff and home run potential, can’t say I’m too surprised they are in Omaha. Oklahoma is by far the biggest surprise of the SEC 5. Don’t think anyone had them getting out of Georgia Tech’s regional, much less getting to Omaha. My gut tells me that whoever wins the Georgia/Texas game on Saturday night is likely going to win the whole thing… And I’m starting to lean Texas in that game. I’m souring a little on Georgia after seeing their pitching against State this weekend. It was frankly pretty bad other than the Byrd guy that closed both games, and this was after UGA pitched State really well in the previous four meetings. I am not sure they can keep coming back on teams and bank on winning a bunch of shootouts at this stage. This may look really dumb in about a week but I’m going to go outside the box and say West Virginia wins the other side of the bracket. Little bit of a vibe thing with the Mountaineers, and I also think they are a more well rounded team than people realize. I have Texas over WVU in the finals. I like OM’s pitching a lot but I worry about their tendency to be home run reliant at times in that park. Not really sure what to make of UNC, their record is great but they are kinda notorious Omaha chokers. Dawg83
Kevin Schnall of Coastal Carolina headed to South Carolina. Big time hire for SC, they should be competitive again soon.
Dawg83
And it looks like Lemonis may be a serious candidate to get that Coastal job. Would be an interesting situation for him there. I am not sure I’d go that route if I were Coastal’s AD.

pancho
If Skylar Meade isn't already getting serious HC looks, just wait and see if he wins a few games in Omaha.
Bulldogs4
CWS preview: Very seldom does a first time team succeed. WV & Troy will bow out early. Bama will play well but go out after WV & Troy. OK & UNC could be dark horses. OM, GA & TX are my favorites to make the finals. The winners of the GA/TX and UNC/OM games will be the favorites in each bracket. I am going to go with Georgia to win it all. To quote Jake & Elwood “We are on a mission from God” They just seem to be on another level this year and I think it will carry them through. Dawg83
I will say that we’ve been on a run the last few years where a team that seemed like one of the best 1-2 teams for a while ended up winning it…. That would lend itself strongly to this being Georgia’s to lose. I think you’re going to get three Texas vs Georgia games before it’s all said and done. I don’t feel great about Bama or OU’s chances on that side.
Dawg83
OM’s bullpen didn’t have it tonight, gave up 5 runs in the last two innings and UNC got the win. OM vs Troy in a loser’s leaves town game on Sunday afternoon.
Bulldogs4
Ole Miss BP pulled a State tonight. BB’s and HBP are killers. And that was when the game changed in the seventh inning with the back to back walks.
