Assembled is the key word. Comparing that team to Lamar is like comparing Georgia to Ball State. Not to mention that game was scheduled during the season because a MAIS team backed out against GCS leaving both teams having an open date and Oak Grove accepting knowing GCS had a great team. Strange how it didn’t happen again the year after when GCS lost everyone. Prob cuz the Oak Grove staff knew it wasn’t worth it while all the big boys in MAIS wanted a revenge tour against them to get their respect back. Yea the days of good discussion on here has def lessened but I’ve realized a lot of the smaller school threads are just trash talk while the upper classes are more of in depth discussions. Less is more sometimes. Man.. we used to have soooo many posters from all the big boy schools back in the day. Those were the glory days for sure. Lamar's head coach played for Davis in high school, and then was his OC one year. Lamar's defensive coordinator, is Davis's son. Lamar runs basically MRA's offense. GCS was made up almost entirely of basically Allstar kids who played in the public schools ball the previous year. These were NOT kids brought up in the private school system. Lamar has 4 in the last 10 years That’s still no comparison cuz GCS has never been a powerhouse in MAIS. That’s why I said comparing THAT GCS team to Lamar is laughable. They were much better than Lamar for the two year stretch due to Covid which they won state championships very easily while destroying every MAIS team in their way. That year they played Oak Grove they outscored MAIS teams 364-66. 45 of those 66 points from Prep and MRA. That same year Prep beat Lamar 51-14. They have won two since y’all last championship in 2018 though and y’all are 26-24 during that stretch so also nothing to brag about. Yet yea wanna put yourself in the same category as Picayune and Oak Grove. Get out of Meridian and watch more schools fella. A team like that is assembled and was the result of years of public school toughness, coaching, and strength training being thrown into private schools. Thats why they annihilated all those trash private schools. Lamar has a -3 in strength of schedule. NEGATIVE.
