All the good ones are outsiders until they do something to become part of the club. Hall/Boyles Smith county Mangum/Simpson County. Plenty that way at other schools and I know it happens but not sure how many are born and bred and do great things at their home school. To be honest I would not want to coach my home school. A lot of pressure from family and friends. You got hey my son little Johnny is better than so and so put him on the field this is coming from family and friends and causes bad feelings in family or friendships. You’re always going to have that no matter where but at least it’s not with family also I think with Hall and Boyles WC was starving to win and those coaches reputations as winners proceeded them. With Mangum he had been here and become part of the community before going to Ocean Springs so we knew who we wanted when Marcus left for Petal Edited February 19 by Wareaglefan1us

I’m going to post this and it’s probably going to make some people mad but it’s not my intention. On another site someone posted the candidates that they knew of. In the comments underneath there was a comment made are there any black candidates. Unfortunately that’s how a lot are looking at it they’re not worrying about the best coach. To many people White and Black in Wayne County are turning it into a racial thing. I don’t care White,Black, Brown etc…. Give me the best available coach that can bring the team together and win. I’ve known Tracey Lampley pretty much all his life, Kevin Gandy if either get it I would be thrilled and support them on the other hand if Todd Mangum or Chris Boone gets the job I’ll do the same.just hire a good COACH!!!! It’s not about skin color, never has been for me. It’s about getting the best out of those kids wearing those uniforms. There’s people that understand that and then there’s people that make it about this or that. I will give whoever gets the job my support.
Rebel Bert
Hall and Boyles played the foundation. Mangum may need to be the one to get it back. Build his team with WC players that will cary it on like Kat and others. Edited February 20 by Rebel Bert
slicklizard
This Mitchell dude from North Ms right ? Not really another bum that stumbled into a title and has drove it in the ditch. He's another Reynolds but this one worked in Lauderdale County instead. Oh and his offense looks identical to Hankins . We all loved that right . Who could forget the excitement of not knowing which of three plays would be sprung on the defense next ? Hell I'm yawning now just thinking about it . Flood the District office with calls about Hathorne . He's running a victory lap picking up everyone with a have a wing t will travel sign, He's not going to stop on his own he's going to have to be shut down.and no one over there seems willing to do it I think he has all those women he's circled himself with bullied . You say you require a coach with a title at the higher level ? How about the one sitting across the table that won one just across the street and is back to do it again ? In a stadium , building , athletic training complex he built He bult them not Shelton , or Hathorn or Jerk Hankins. Todd Mangum built them. This isn't hard. Hathorne is making it hard and self serving. Edited February 20 by slicklizard
slicklizard
It was a beautiful day to be outside today it took me back to younger days and I remembered things I had forgot . You don't know you are witnessing something special until after it has passed . I put down my shovel a few minutes today and started reading through messages several about who is going to be the next coach right now and how much difficulty and angst it was causing it seems amongst everyone with ties to there. I thought why ?Why does it matter so much ? To me it means traveling a couple hundred miles and having someone see my hat or maybe car tag and inquiring Wayne County MS ? Always the next comment will be about football. I'm tired of having to look down and mumble . They remember and so do I. It was something to see. It wouldn't matter if the losing that took place in the nineties had just continued but it didn't. It became name everyone knew. It was a freaking great time. I see some trying to make this a black and white issue but they are in the minority When Wayne County was rolling they were no races, religions or economics we were all united behind that sticker on that dam helmet . We pulled up on the road as one and mingled most of the day at the stadium by the school as one. They were no fights , trouble or unruliness outside of someone celebrating too much but that was laughed at later by everyone. I miss it . When I think of the afterlife I imagine that common happiness and peace. I wold take my forever like that and let the chips fall where they may.It was stolen . Everyone should know by who and what by now . They say they understand about recapturing it. I don't think they do . It's been forotten. Todd Mangum is who I want as the next coach. I have made that no secret . It;s a given at this point that Kat would be on the sidelines with him and probably pound too. They both need to be with him and learn how it is done . In Wayne County. Because it doesn't need to be forgotten. Or it was all for nothing. The resources are still there. Get your head in the game Madam Supt. Tell him to quit meddling or it's going to be difficult to keep his income stream steady after may, Whether it be his retirement or his contract being renewed. There will be huffing and puffing but he will come to heel because that's all he really cares about anyway. He is leaving and isn't good enough to be involved in coaching at Wayne County. He has proven himself to suck over and over. Edited February 20 by slicklizard
slicklizard
One other thing before I sleep the sleep of a just man. I said it was Mr. Dewey Mckee that had the vision. It wasn't , It was after he retired.. Ben Graves. The man's name was Ben Graves, Yet not a plaque not engraved stone honor's him for making his vision come to fruition, He and Mr Dewey should have a building or hell even the road named after them. And I don’t know that saying he stumbled his way into a title is appropriate considering he won it at Choctaw County in his 2nd year. It may not be a wing offense I never said i was schooled in the finer points of how to break your players all to pieces when you have squandered all your depth from the freshman teams . But i have watched all that motion that still doesn’t even get the playet barely ten feet from the center with the guy on the other side on the tackles butt talk a half a step back . Only to run a dam dive play . Our back would get his feet clipped about the line of scrimmage and the coach would clap his hands together like man we almost had it . Thats what you get when you get to the top of 4A and above with that boring crap . We have sat through it for five years and are tired of watching our kids abused . This guy needs to know that. We don’t want him. He won’t win and will be harassed from day one . When everyone looks at him all they will see is bubba hathorne. Is that more clear about I meant about what I looked at ? I don’t even know what he did at whatever lauderdale school he was at but when get in the playoffs in 5A and above you will meet someone maybe more as good you are .You will have to outcoach the other guy . Hankins couldn’t because he never changed. The guy may turn out to have his name in lights and he may not. I don’t want to take any more chances. Coach Mangum is here for a reason he didn’t have to pursue this job . There were others he would have been a top candidate for . Don’t be dumb Wayne County don't. slicklizard
Did Corey Reynolds twirl his green stoned mustang title ring in Coach Champans face in the interview ? They don’t even have self-checkouts at Dollar General anymore. They thought it would help with shrink, but instead it’s done the opposite. The employees are outside smoking for 6 hours on an 8 hour shift. It makes cashiers and cash registers totally pointless.

I guess I could have said closer to Vossburg than Fruitdale if that appeals to your senses better. But if I my buggy has the 40 oz size M&Ms with peanuts in it and five 2 liter mountains dews while the sad sack behind me has the one oz. single plain M&Ms and a Checkers Root Beer I can't help but feel a little more fortunate. So on that point I do feel fortunate the Checkers Root Beer returned to Stringer.
