Wareaglefan and I went to the old high school together at Beat Four. It's foggy that far back but I remember Hathorne being around in some capacity maybe as a student older than us or as a young coach under Danny Adams or one of the others at that time. Hathorne was a half arse bully I remember that much. He liked to get loud with people smaller  than him. Where did he even come from ? I don't know any Hathornes even today in the area. Apparently he followed Adams to NEJ. I think.

We all graduate and scatter like leaves on the wind. The new school was built and they sucked at football. Late 90s I had got my legs under me career wise and was able to be around Wayne County a little and the athletics. Bobby Hall had some problems image wise I think and came to Wayne County to get out of the limeligjt IMO. I think it was Mr. Dewey Mckee that got him there to help him get back on his feet. Mr Dewey was a great, great man I really looked up to  IDK if he's even still around.

Anyway back to Bobby Hall . He inherited Hathorne from the previous pathetic coach. He wasn't involved in the coaching just cleaning the building, etc. Hall did more than get back on his feet he awakened a sleeping giant and he knew it. Wayne County was getting on the map football wise.

He parlayed that into a job at Madison I think but left behind a staff that dominated High School football in South MS for the next twenty years at least at different schools. Marcus was quickly made head coach but the other coaches still on staff were Mangum , Breland , Earnest, Collums and a few more I  probably forgot. 

There was an african american gentleman that was supt  at that time and was responsible for moving Marcus up. I cant remember his name either but he was the best at that position before or since. Another great man that history has forgotten.  It was a great time on Friday nights. It was widely known Bubba was going around saying he had been promised the job and it was his when Marcus was announced. Hathorne was irate . Marcus told him he was out and Mangum would fill his slot on the staff. There was some kind of stand off as he didn't want to give up his keys . Long story short Breland went and took the keys from him and followed him to his car and threw his boxed up belongings in it . Hathorne was out again. That's why he can't stand Boyles or Breland and has made the statement in the last few years that as long as he has say so nobody associated with that staff would work at Wayne County. I will give the snake this much he has stuck to it. I don't know his path after he got run off but I'm sure he run wherever he was in the ditch football wise. He should have been expunged form coaching but the public system protects destroyers like him.

Things got stale Coach Boyles got better pay at the new Petal school and left. Again it didn't even seem like a couple of days Coach Mangum was pulling up.  Al Smith I think stamped it as supt but there were still people there that had saw the buildup and had already cleared the transition. He got better every year and by 2014 could hang with anyone. About 2016 after a game I saw Hathorne picking up cups and packing equipment. I knew then things were on the decline. I told wareaglefan at that time  if he hung around things would erode quickly. Anything he ever touched related to football was cursed . He's cursed. Coach Mangum felt sorry for him and I think as a favor to Al Smith gave him a job because he had burnt every bridge and his reputation as a coach was ruined.. I got close enough to him after a game and told him  he didn't deserve to be at Wayne County or around the players and he should leave , Do something else besides high school football because he sucked at it . He didn't like it at all but was too much of coward bully to protest,  I remembered him from Beat Four and he remembered me There are no scraps for backstabbers in my scrapbook. I don't want to say what I think he deserves . Anyway. time rolled on

Then gangas khan got elected and a nuclear bomb was detonated in the school system. Bobby Jones was grabbing everything not nailed down with both hands. Five million missing from equity accounts stolen by "hackers" they said . School falling off a cliff test scores wise.This is where Bubba rose to have the pull he has now. Coach Mangum saw where things were headed and got out. Which he should have. I'm pretty sure Hathorne was running to Bobby backstabbing Todd about not following new policies and stuff. Things were falling apart. Bobby over uled Bubba trying to push Todd Lowery in to take Mangums place. 

If anyone reads this board very much I have chronicled the rest of his systematic destruction of the football program since, A laughing stock  now. People are waking up though because the only thing constant through this river of turds is him. He's solely responsible . He bragged in his farewell speech the other day about kicking kids off th football team like it was some big accolade. Big Chap is the only one that pushed back. The rest sat there like scared dogs. Where are those kids now ? They don't care. Football was all that some of those dudes had and they have been thrown in the trash.Shame on you losers. I'm done

The first time I met Bubba he was living in what is now his wife’s uncle’s guesthouse which was a carport converted. He was actually our neighbor but the first coaching job I remember him from was Wayne Academy. 
When Bobby Hall was here Bubba was his DC and Bobby actually liked him. Bobby had him ac DC, Marcus as OC and John Perry as Offensive Line and strength coach.Coach Perry left after One season with Bobby for a JC job.

You are right on how things went down with Marcus and Bubba. But Marcus put his staff together if Bubba would not have threw down he may have been DC instead Marcus goes out and gets Mangum brings him in he keeps Marvin Chapman as Defensive lineman coach, gets Milner as offensive line coach, has Todd Breland. Later adds Toby Collums as OC  and Ryan Earnest as running back coach and brings in Kelly Murphy. Just posting this to show the kind of coaches Marcus brought in count the state titles five or six.

Back to Bobby for a second Marcus and

Bobby go way back. Marcus played running back for Bobby at Raleigh later he was an assistant with Bobby at Louisville. 
When Bubba left he took a head coaching job at Clarksdale or clarksdale whichever is by meridian lol. They were awful at the time Bubba actually won a few games before heading to North East Jones that was not good. Before getting back to WC

You are correct and Marcus also added the Junior High coaches. We had one of the best staffs in the state. Another thing is they pretty much stayed together

Bubba got shut down today on paper he's still the principal and immediate authority to the coach but that's in title only; So any of you boys applying if he starts saying how he is going to bat for you don't believe it.

Jack Hankins no matter what he told you he threw you under the bus and painted you the bad guy. Corey Reynolds you carry yourself like someone that has never had anyone be brutally honest with you. You have never seemed too smart and the last couple of weeks just confirm it. After that there was no player development really and they  threw you out like a dirty sock with a hole worn it, How could you be so delusional that you didn't see this as your  fate there ? Do yourself a favor son and tell mom you are taking a stand, That you are withdrawing your name from  consideration. If you think West was a traumatic ending that was a pony ride compared to how it would end in Waynesboro. You are not good at building a champion , You've never done it and at your age it's never going to happen for you. Marcus was the fullback at Raleigh.  You really see that position much anymore. That was the last years of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Marcus could get more than 3 yards on any play if didn't bring him down. Clarkdale is on Clarke and Lauderdale line. It really is about building the right staff.

Its an inside joke amongst a lot of folks on here. Brady has bounced around many schools as an assistant and are saying sarcastically he deserves to be a HC

Interviews beginning this week already hear some of the names coming in. Good candidates on the table let’s hope they make a quality hire and WC football gets back to where it should be. I know people are tired of me saying this but the talent is here and a lot of young talent coming up. The right coach just has to get them to buy into the championship pedigree.

Wayne County do yourself a big favor and gives this lady the job as the next Supt. Personally I don't really know that much about her but here is what I can say. She is from Wayne County and makes all her decisions like someone should who has skin in the game. Not moves for personal gain like the Jones boys did. It's people like her that the scumbags the last ten years have held down.

The whole process of hiring the coach had slowed to a crawl undoubtedly due to the Reynolds clan trying to slow interest for their depression case to slide in behind the scenes. She saw it wasn't moving and got up out of the office and took charge. I think we stand a chance now of landing someone I can be happy with.

I heard somewhere the other day that she is the one heading the committee and conducting interviews. Bubba was just a contact for emails.

You heard absolutely correct. I know this is a football board but if our BOE doesn’t hire this lady as Superintendent they are messing up. I not talking about sports but more importantly to out kids education wise. She is more than qualified, she will not be ran over, she will be fair and she is from Wayne County with two kids in school there and one that graduated from WC. I’ve known her for many years she was sent to turn a middle school in the county around and she did just that making it the highest scoring school in the county before they moved her to the county office. So yes Slick she’s the right person for the job and doesn’t hide things like prior administrations did

The name just doesn't jive and would be a major strike with me. We just ridded ourself of a Jack Hankins . I questioned wh ther or not he was right for WC when they announced him. It did not sound Wayne County to me and my intuition was right again. Maybe if he changed his name to Wayne instead of Lane.

He’s pulling the rule book out to force his way in to pay back his old NEJ buddy Mike Parker who is good friends with the wing t stringer coach.  Hathorne will push him and reynolds so his bureaucratic counterparts will be obligated to kiss his arse after he is gone. Anyone with an ounce of integrity would have withdrawn from the process because of retirement but not this fat bastage . Burn it down on your way out just like NEJ. Why hasn’t Wayne County thrown him out long ago is mind boggling.
