CFB Week 12

It’s rumored that the Ole Miss contract sitting on his desk is for 13M making him the 2nd highest paid coach in college. I’ve also heard 13.5 but not sure how true that it because that would have him making more than Kirby. As far as recognition, the only thing missing is his statue because I think he’s gotten plenty of recognition from Ole Miss and the outside world.

I’m not going to make a new Week 13 thread with State and OM on bye and a short week before the Egg Bowl. It’s also just a terrible slate of games in general.

Mizzou/Oklahomw could be interesting. Some rumors that Pribula could be back for Mizzou. That’s probably going to be an ugly game.

Otherwise in the SEC…. Slim pickings. Unless Kentucky/Vandy, Arkansas/Texas, and Florida/Tennessee do anything for you.

Feel bad for Vandy, they stand a real chance of finishing 10-2 and not making the Playoff because they’re about 6th in the SEC pecking order right now.

i saw some frustration from OM people about Texas Tech still being ranked higher. Feel like that’s a game control thing. OM has played a bunch of close games whereas Tech has been dominant, outside of their one loss without their starting QB on the road. OM does have the best win between the two, but Tech blowing out both BYU and Utah is driving their resume a lot too.

The whole Tech thing doesn’t matter in the long run because if they keep winning out and with their conference championship they’ll be in the top four with a bye. Two of the top four are going to eventually lose so the question will be do they put a team that lost their conference championship game over Tech which I seriously doubt.

No reason to feel bad for Vandy. In fact their fans probably feel like they are playing with house money. After so many years of being the runt of the SEC, I would take a 9-3 record and a Jan1 bowl game in Florida every year. I dont have to make the playoff.

The Matt Zenitz story about Kiffin possibly wanting Orgeron on his hypotethical LSU staff definitely turned some heads tonight.

We may know a lot more in the next 24-48 hours, one way or the other, based off speculation today. Regardless of how it goes, I think Kiffin has objectively handled it all poorly and Ole Miss fans are justified in however they feel about him, good or bad.

The Lane rumors are all over the place.

Believe nothing you hear and 1/2 of what you see as the saying goes.

I really don't think any decision is made and would wager everyone involved is still negotiating higher offers for Lane/Sexton to review before any decision is made.

Yes and that is exactly why Auburn, Florida and LSU are still in flux and this is affecting the thought process in arky too. Lane knows what he wants to do and if what Al Davis said about him, the tarmac incident and how he left knoxville all hold some sway inside him it'll be a juicy next week or so.  He thinks he is IT and he really is.

I don’t have any inside information, but  I honestly think Kiffin just can’t make his mind up.  Does he love the attention? Absolutely.  I think he really wants to try a program like LSU. I also think he really wants to see where he can take OM.   I don’t think he’s intentionally playing games.   If he is, dude is an ass and just as good at being one as he is at coaching.

Did anyone see the post Desmond Howard made about Texas being open after the season?  A mutual parting of ways?  That’s pretty crazy to be throwing out things like that when you’re on tv like he is each week. That would be a job I could see Kiffin taking so someone better lock him up with a huge buyout soon.

He gone the Saturday after the Egg Bowl.

Supposedly KC and Lane will meet again that day but anyone with any common sense would know that would be to discuss Kiffin’s contract that says Ole Miss owes him 37M if he was to be let go before Dec 31 even if he were to take another job.

I never realized how dumb our fanbase is while I argue with them about breach of contract as they say either fire him now or reassign him to an assistant job. I laugh at assistant job

I can see him carrying the water bottles to the huddle during a timeout at Davis Wade.

I don’t think you can totally rule out him staying because even though logic tells you he’s probably headed to LSU, this dude clearly does not operate like a normal, rational thinking human being.

That said…. This is who this guy is at this point. And any attempts to convince you he was a changed man were just flat out wrong. If he stays at Ole Miss, he will put them through a similar saga again in a year or two. If he leaves for LSU, he’ll put them through it to when something like the Bama or Texas job opens up, or he’ll get an NFL itch at that point.

I compared it to Mullen’s yearly flirtations while at State… But Mullen never insulted his fanbase’s intelligence to this degree.
