Former Coach
The schedule drops next Tuesday. Who do you look for State and OM to get as permanent opponents? I look for State to get OM, obviously, Alabama and either Kentucky or S. Carolina. I think we get Bama because they are going to get AU and Tenn, their rival games, so they have to have a very winnable game which is State. I think OM get State, LSU and Arky. They could easily place everyone in four 4 team pods geographically for permanent foes but they won't.
pancho
I'm sure they will do something that appears totally stupid to sane people.

Definitely gonna be some upset folks. The SEC has so many deep / rich rivalries it’s a hard list to make
Bulldogs4
State will probably pick Bama back up given the proximity of the universities, even though Bama has dominated the series. The third team, I would prefer KY just because we had a pretty good series going with them over the last 20 years. Ole Miss playing State, LSU and Arkansas would be the perfect setup. DrownInEtown
State gets OM, Bama, and Vandy. Vandy’s a little surprising but overall can’t be too upset abt those 3 Ole Miss get Oklahoma? Figured Ole Miss had 5 candidates with LSU, State, Ark, Tenn, and Vandy. So getting OU is definitely a surprise According to this Edited September 22, 2025 by DrownInEtown
Dawg83
I figured State would get OM and Bama. Was not expecting Vandy at all.
Bulldogs4
We have only played Vanderbilt 24 times in the history of the SEC. So it makes sense that we would be annual rivals with them in this new set up. Plus we are playing the other teams two times every four years which is much better than the old rotation. The Vandy addition is a pleasant surprise. State's permanent opponents are definitely more regional, and I don't hate the Bama addition. I realize State has a putrid record against them, but this isn't a Nick Saban Bama anymore. The permanent opponents are challenging for sure and it's not a cake walk, but it's manageable. Former Coach
Knew we would get Bama. As I said in op with them playing their rival games AU and TENN the had to get a "easy" game and that just happens to be State. I do like the Vandy pick up. They historically have been at the bottom of the SEC in football. OK for OM was a surprise. I really thought they would get ARK. Interesting thing is that this is for a 4 year cycle. NoWammies
I expected State, LSU and either Arkansas or Vandy. Oklahoma was a curveball when I was sitting on a fastball.

Dawg83
Oklahoma, Bama, and Auburn all coming to Starkville next year sounds like fun, maybe some opportunities for a big win or two. You would think Mizzou and Vandy at home can be winnable games. A road schedule of LSU, Texas, SC, and Ole Miss is less fun. In my opinion, a 9 game league schedule just makes it so much more important to go unbeaten in nonconference. State plays at Minnesota in Week 2 next year, going to be a VERY important game. If you can book it early, book the Hilton Garden Inn. Bout a 5 min walk and you’re at the stadium and it’s nice. I stayed at a Hampton Inn there bout 2 months ago and it was only about a 10 min drive to the stadium. Where the stadium is located wasn’t really that crowded or anything. Dawg83
State at Minnesota exclusively on Peacock sounds about right in this new era of TV. Lol.
