Its obvious we see things differently. I saw a good qb putting the ball where it needed to be and the HHS WR'S making the catch.

I'm not saying Boyles doesn't know what he's doing but let's be honest .... what has Boyles done lately???? If Petal doesn't get a playoff berth this season I wouldn't be surprised if Petal people turn on him.... or he finds retirement again.

Great post.  I honestly don't think you would have to take it as far as a playoff berth.  Think about this situation:  What would happen if Oak Grove takes Petal to the woodshed or if Oak Grove beats Petal within a two possession margin?  Reality would set in real quick.

Petal is getting in the playoffs. In fact the last game of the yr last season vs Oak Grove determined the No.2 seed. And I believe won a 1st round playoff game last season and beat Gulfport

That is to be expected. They lost their entire Dline and 2 linebackers. Now I do like what we have returning in the defensive backfield with Ponce and Tarvin returning. But if HHS Dline can be half as good as what it was last season I will be happy. That line was the best I had seen in last 20yrs. And I believe 3 of the 4 are starting at Southwest CC while the other one is at Arkansas.

Gotta be honest.. you sound like you’re not exactly in tune with what’s going on…considering Meridian was a shell of its former self when he was there. And I watched them go down to 1 seed Ocean Springs and beat them in the first round before losing to OG who won a state title that year. And before he went to Meridian, Petal was one of the best teams in the south during his previous tenure.

Dub, from 1993-2011 Boyles was elite.  Those Taylorsville, Pearl & Wayne County years were his best.  That was an extremely high clip of winning that went on during that time span.  Now his span with Petal from 2012-2020 was very good as well.  Still a high clip of winning there, and his worst years really aren't that bad at all.  He's been able to win pretty much everywhere he's been.  Now here comes the unavoidable "but":  the last time he brought home a gold ball was 2006.  Like it or not that's now 20 football seasons ago.  If he's going to get another he needs to get it done rather quickly wouldn't you think?

Oak Grove and Brandon have been monsters in that time frame. As good as a coach as he is… Petal isn’t always oozing with football talent top to bottom. They have their years. And he probably overachieved during a few of them

Bingo.  Oak Grove and Brandon are still monsters which creates some turbulence.  If he can navigate that and navigate the monsters out of the North, he’d be the best Mississippi has ever had and it wouldn’t even be disputable.

August 29th. It was originally scheduled for August 30th but usm hosts ms state that day. It still could have been on Saturday being that usm/msu play at 11am.

If Boyles could get Meridian to the second round of the playoffs 2 yrs ago then yeah, he's an elite coach. Gandy has Meridian in the dumps again. 

And by the way, it's a mistake playing this game on Sat. night. That's the first day of college football.

The game pretty much became a tradition being played on Saturday night. Literally everybody from surrounding areas came out to watch and enjoy... but i definitely understand usm vs msu will be played earlier that day but I'm also willing to think if you wanted to go to both you could for sure.

I guess my thinking is when y’all play Petal there shouldn’t be a whole lot of offensive flub ups.  I’m not saying there won’t be issues but at least there should be some carryover that will keep y’all from having to totally reinvent the wheel.

Hopefully Friday alot of things get settled but from a talent stand point I think we're looking great. I feel like we got about 5 kids they will have breakout seasons with 1 kid specifically will turn heads. The biggest question mark is Lacey, nobody really knows what to expect from him. He might be the youngest HC in the whole state. I wanna see how he commands the sidelines along with his interactions with the players and coaches.
