What's the definition of an "unearned" touchdown? Is it one that has been gift wrapped and been given as a gift? If a defender causes a fumble and the defense does a scoop & score, is that just a reward of the game or is it an earned touchdown? I feel like there's an argument for both scenarios LOL! So if offensively they drive the ball down the field and score on our defense that’s what I am classifying as an earned touchdown. So is your 3 down linemen defense. If petal quit trying to go up top every 3rd play and keep running up middle where the are averaging like 6-7 yards a carry, the score would look a lot different. There ain’t no denying the new 3-4 defense has some kinks, but it doesn’t help when your defense keep getting put in bad field positions due to special teams. Merlin Posted August 27, 2023 Share Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) Hattiesburg defense looked lost. The only thing that stopped petals offense was penalties. O line looked soft. And the special teams may be the worst I have seen after junior high. I was not thrilled with west jones offense last night but they would beat Hattiesburg by 3 scores if they play next week. The game changer was that lob pass by #1 that got intercepted after y’all had tied the game up. Hattiesburg didn’t need a chunk play there.
