Wildcats are Wildcats regardless of skin color. And it has been that way for over five decades. We all just want to win. I do agree that at the end of the day, wins and losses are what matter. What Douglass walked into was created by higher ups hiring the wrong coach who only lasted about four months. Coach Boyles is a winner and the reason Cheyenne hired him was for just that reason. He wants the Wildcats to be winners again and he found the best coach so just that. Again skin color means nothing. Blue is the only color that matters at Meridian High. I’m not sure how politics is involved. Maybe it’s an individual school issue instead of county? West Lauderdale doesn’t have coaches leaving. Clarkdale has been relatively stable the last few years. That NEL can’t keep a coach? SEL probably would’ve had stability for a while had Hampton not passed away. Again, it’s a school problem. Not a county problem. Maybe they did and he said no. WL plays both of those schools in JH, JV, and Varsity every year. He probably doesn’t want to derail his career by taking either of those dead end jobs. Bulldogs4 Posted April 17, 2023 Share Posted April 17, 2023 As I have mentioned, Douglass is a good coach and he knows how to build and run a football program. He can be successful at NEL but the hierarchy will not let him succeed. At least I will believe it when I see it happen. Clarkdale had a coach who had more success than any coach in 50+ years but they promptly ran him out of town for no good reason. At SEL, Coach Hampton’s sad and untimely death certainly has hurt the program but I am not sure he would have been successful there in the long term. They just do not care about football. Like RB noted, a DC/OC at WL would be fool to leave there to be the HC for another Lauderdale County school. They are already know the script.
