Those seem like 3 good schools/teams to have on your resumé

But yet no one would hire him as a head coach until now.  I know he's a Wayne County guy but I would be less than thrilled.

I'm having a hard time believing this is the hire.

And over two guys with rings already, the decision should have made itself.

He was HC at South and did a good job.  South got politic problems. Pretty sure they was some personal stuff he had to handle so he took a break from chasing HC jobs. He a good coach.  Brady wasn't a fit.  Evans wasn't even an option.

You got to remember he worked in that district as a head coach at South and I am sure a lot of people in district still think highly of him or they would not have brought him back. In four years, Reynolds at South Jones went 24-24, posting winning seasons in each of the last three years.

I’m in agreement with Slick there.  If there’s better options available, you go after them and don’t settle.

Hiring a head coach is a lot like buying a vehicle.  Get what you want with all the bells and whistles that you want because this should be a long term investment.  If you would rather have an XL over a Lariat then by all means don’t have any regrets in the future and be happy with what you’ve got.

Corey Reynolds

Let me start this out by saying that he isn't my first, second, third, or 4th choice (4 guys with head coaching experience with 8 state titles between them).  But he is better than one of the finalists I was hearing, in my opinion.  And I do recall some Picayune fans being displeased with their hire 4 years ago and things seemed to have worked out for them.

However, I don't think things are set in stone just yet.  I made the two quoted posts below on the 2nd page of the thread.  And, well, they hold true.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the jones county school board pushes their own ideas into this and turn it into a cluster.

But the Jones County school board has final say. And they do not necessarily have any of the 3 high schools athletic programs Best interest in mind.  Or at least depending on which schools graduates are on the board or in position to sway opinion.

I don't think so. I seem to remember that there were some very unhappy people and may have been some burned bridges about his exit from South Jones.

The orchard that has been yielding this bumper crop of Maroon Tide talent wasn't planted by the current coach.  He's done a good job at tending to the crop, but what happens if the crop experiences some pestilence?  I'm not saying that will happen, but that will be the time when things get put to the test.

I was just saying that some of yall were displeased.  And the guy wins 2 titles in 3 years.  So that gives me some hope in the new WJ coach maybe can pull something off.

However the school board is playing games.

4.  4 guys with rings already (3 with more than 1 ring) that I know of applied and interviewed at least once.

I think the good thing here is that West Jones isn't in a bad position with having to rebuild.  They just need a coach who can come in and build off of what has been built.
