Class 5a region 4 may be the most competitive region in all 7 classes and every region

I keep seeing this narrative about how tough this region is going to be and I just cannot buy the hype. Maybe I am a little biased because I have seen these coast teams play and know what is coming back but you guys are on here painting it out like it is the SEC or something lol.

The only team in that region I see dropping a little bit is Gautier. I see Stone Vancleave and East Central being just as good as they were last season. And you know Wayne Co and Laurel will always be contending for a region title

Didn't stone lose basically their entire team and their head coach? I don't see how they would be just as good in a bigger classification

You’re right well as far as my knowledge of  Vancleve, EC, Guatier and SC goes I’m basically going off of last season. WC was in a region with EC they were a hard nosed team now Seth was coaching then. SC was in the region with WC a few years ago but dropped to 4A. I’m not sure what Guatier is returning but I know who they aren’t lol the QB now he had some playmakers around him. Last season in the playoffs was their first win over WC. I know absolutely nothing about Vancleve. WC and Laurel return almost everything

Gautier lost a lot, Stone county lost more, Vancleave lost their Rb, best guy on the oline and a few front 7 guys on defense. They'll be good as long as they can find some guys to tote the rock

Gautier is replacing roughly 90% of its offensive production. QB, both of their leading rushers, leading WR and the entire offensive line. Along with 5-6 starters on defense. Vancleave loses their RB, along with their best OL and another starter. They lost their two best defensive players along with some other starters. East Central lost a ton off of their defense as well as their best offense playmakers. Stone does return their QB, but lost a good amount of his playmakers around him. Vancleave nor East Central impressed me last season. Teams that were actually good ball clubs beat them by 3+ scores. A lot of fools gold with them in my opinion.

I understand and respect your POV, but Vancleave did beat a region winner first round of the playoffs.  Unless you don't qualify Hattiesburg as an "actually good ball club."

Everything that has transpired with Feaster going to Moss Point definitely is a surprise.  I'm not so sure that it's greener pastures over there, but maybe he's got some fertilizer or something that he can bring with him to get the PH levels up.  I certainly hope it works out for him, but he's got some serious soil treatment to do over there if he wants to bear some fruit.  Just think about the potatoes that Matt Damon grew on Mars in "The Martian".  He's definitely going to have to science the heck out of it there.

Personally I did not view them as a good ball club. Region 3 was average overall top to bottom in my opinion (which is evident by West Jones being the only playoff winner thrashing East Central). West Jones was probably the best overall team in the region. Vancleave was a tough matchup for Hattiesburg no doubt, but I was not impressed by them even with Hattiesburg being 7-0 in region play.

Didn't hattiesburg have multiple D1 guys on defense? Vancleave ran all over them with a D2 rb and a 1 JUCO olineman. I think its pretty impressive that a team with that few college football players beats a one seed in the playoffs but thats just me.

Hattiesburg was a very good football team. I know WC has been on the opposite end of being a #1 seed playing a #4 seed and lost a couple to a PRC team that we should have beaten pretty easily. No disrespect to them but one year we had a team many favored to win state. Sometimes teams go in thinking all they have to do is show up, I believe that’s what happened with Hattiesburg.

I do not think Hattiesburg was not a quality football team. Very undisciplined. But, they were by a far more talented that Vancleave. VHS was just a far better coached team that played with a lot of heart. Those coaches are doing a lot with a little.

Having D1 guys or not it doesn't matter. You can get beat on any given night.

I agree that you can lose on any given night, but having more talented players definitely makes a difference, and those teams should win more often than not. Even if we don't talk about the seniors going to college next year there is no one in the state who would say Vancleave has more talent than Hattiesburg

Is this still for sure? I have not seen any news coverage of this and Feaster has not confirmed anything despite several posts on social media in the last week.

His twitter account still says he's Stone's football coach and he made a post 15 minutes ago about seeking God's approval.

I saw an assistant coach from Moss Point made a post about it the other day and it was being shared on social media but then I saw he took it down so I am wondering if the "breaking news" was premature and nothing had officially been announced. I know the Coast Football facebook and twitter page reported it, but it has not been reported by any reputable (I do not intend that as a shot at Coast Football either because what they do is awesome) news source.

You make a great point because we haven't seen the Sun Herald, WLOX or WDAM take off and run with a story about it either.
