And all this silly fretting about timing ... it's not as though spring training is next week. They're taking their time and making a diligent hire. Finding coaches to fill teaching vacancies can become a problem the later a school waits to make a move.

Baller82
Can confirm that Causey did not and will not interview. He removed his name from the list of candidates.

David
We’ll, looking like we can finally put this topic to bed and move on to talking about how the new coach will continue the success moving forward. Search committee should be discussing and making a decision as I type, and after informing their choice, should announce at the board meeting on Tuesday. I’ve got my personal favorite, and believe him to be the actual favorite, but things could go another way.

Obviously, they had one of the best playoff runs in years in a smaller classification. My guy was very impressed with his resume, especially the offensive scheme. Whether the committee wants to go with him, I don’t know, but he reminds me of that coach who just left in a positive way. It would probably take a rebuilding. Sometimes, the small school experience doesn’t translate, but he must be pretty good. What Can you tell me?

Took over Raleigh when they had missed the playoffs several years in a row. His first 3 years there they went 2nd rd, 3rd rd, South State. 2017-18 goes to FCAHS and wins 6 games year 1, they didn’t win 6 games again until this season. Clinton had some good years while he was there as OC, they made it to North State his last year there. Now he’s 28-2 at Scott with 2 state championships. Archer
DuBose has the most impressive resume by a considerable margin having won multiple state titles in Alabama. Very intriguing candidate.

I like young and innovative like the offensive mind that’s been there the last three years.

Not sure if I agree with you, especially in this case. In a lot of ways, being a coordinator at a big time program can be better training than head coaching at a smaller school in terms of learning to work with elite athletes, handling large rosters, building training and nutrition programs, and going face to face with other quality coaching staffs. Bramlette has had the best QB in the state to work with, but he’s handled him and lots of other talented players, setting them up for college. I feel sure that other big programs have looked at him in the past, and are presently. I see your position, but sometimes it’s better to grab a great coach when you have a chance. High School football is High School football. The MHSAA has already conveniently weakened down the classifications and the resources would probably be better at Ocean Springs than Scott Central. If Ocean Springs has the opportunity to hire a football coach with multiple gold balls why wouldn’t they take full advantage of that particular situation? Two different directions to go in, for sure. I’m glad to see good options for my old school. Whichever way they go, I expect things to continue to improve. See my comments to JAdmiral above. And may I say, it’s good to be having a conversation/argument/lesson about high school football in the middle of February. This little site goes dark sometimes in the off-season. Appreciate the line. To put it bluntly: If y’all don’t scoop him up, somebody else will sooner rather than later. The big upside to this would be that he would be closer to home here in Pearl River County and no I’m not referring to any job openings within our county. Also interviewed present O.S. offensive coordinator Jake Bramlette. I believe that option would lend continuity and allow for the assistants to remain. He’s highly respected and, having been here learning the ropes, would be a great choice in my opinion. Also expected to be sought after at other schools with openings. Will some of them come to Gulfport? I assume Bramlett Will go after another head job if he doesn’t land this one?
