  1. I am not looking to criticize any of your selections. I am just curious as what system, formula, etc. you used in selecting these teams.
  2. I watched that team crush my brother’s Gulfport Admirals that season. They were really, really good. ‘85 Meridian and ‘87 Pascagoula are two of the best teams I have ever seen.
  3. Scott Central is now open. Not posted yet, but head coach announced on social media he was stepping down.
  4. You are not wrong in your thinking at all. I just know plenty of guys in the profession that have mentioned when they get a resume of a coach, young or old, and it has a a lot of stops on it, they question it. That has come from coaches who are considered great coaches and some who are not. Again, not saying it is the absolute truth, just that I know folks who share the sentiment.
  5. My brother was a coach/AD in Louisiana for 30 years. My mother taught for 35 years. I am well aware of the plight educators go through. Sounds like you’re speaking for yourself in your opinions of what you have dealt with. That is not the case for most of the friends/family I have in education. To each their own. My opinion is simply that. My opinion. Does not make it the gospel nor right or wrong.
  6. I have had opportunities to move on to other jobs in the past for better pay, benefits, etc. and have turned them down for loyalty to my company and my boss. Do I understand people moving around for those reasons? Sure. However to me, it is a red flag if a coach has that many stops over a short amount of time. It signals you’re either always looking for the next job or you just are not a very good coach therefore you are let go or not renewed. Neither of those is something I would want on my staff as a coach.
  7. I said that? I just read my post again and I did not see that in there. I said it is a bad look. Which it is to a lot of people.
  8. Well if the names who others said have applied, actually have applied. Forrest Williams, John Feaster, Teddy Dyess all would be great choices ahead of Lane Brady. Again, decent guy from some accounts I have heard. He has been at roughly 4 or so schools over the last 7-8 years. Not a good look to be moving around that much. I understand you like him because he coached your boy, but I have heard different tunes regarding him from 3 different schools.
  9. Hiring Lane Brady would be a huge step back for them. Great guy from all accounts, just not sure he is HFC material.
  10. I understand your thought process and you are correct in that thought. He very well could stay, but from what I have seen and heard, he may be looking to get out of Moss Point.
  11. I would have to disagree on better athletes and chance at winning for Feaster. After seeing Moss Point last year, they are on the way down in my opinion. They lost their best (and only) offensive threat and their best player on (a bad) defense. The ceiling at Harrison Central is far higher in my opinion. Moss Point scored a fluke win over St. Stanislaus and I will be honest, I do not know how in the world they blew Greene County out.
  12. There is a link on JPS website that shows you what middle schools feed to which high school.
  13. I would say the numbers are pretty accurate to what will be turned in during the fall. You could set the bar around +/- 10-15 and be in the ball park in most cases.
  14. '87 Pascagoula is probably the only one I can think off that would be better possibly. They were loaded everywhere on that unit. I think 10 of the 11 starters went on to play some form of college football. I would say that West Jones defense is probably the best I have seen in the last 20-25 years for sure.
  15. I cannot speak on Teddy, but I do know Forrest is very much trying to get back to Mississippi in a head coach role, specifically the coast.
  16. Hearing the same. Also heard Casey Whittman who has been an assistant at Harrison Central the last few years is a serious candidate at the moment.
  17. It has been pretty common over the last 10-15 years, especially at the middle school level. A lot of the communities are fairly close together and it is easy to move around. You still have some home grown talent but the majority I would say lived in another city or more and are move ins. It seems to have picked up a good bit here lately with recruiting at the HS level has grown.
  18. Yes I believe you will see quite a few of their players wearing Blue and Orange next year.
  19. Honestly not sure where Browne went. I know Forrest is out in Texas.
  20. I expect this draw a lot of assistant names at bigger schools or a HFC from a smaller classification program. Hard to imagine a successful coach at the 5-7A level coming to take this job on. A name to keep an eye out for is Forrest Williams. He has applied at several jobs that were open on the coast the last few years and word is that he has been wanting to get back to Mississippi. Only name I have heard that has put in is their former DC, Robert Browne being a legit candidate. A lot of parents in the community love him.
  21. Further proof the majority of schools on the coast do not prioritize athletics at a lot of places. He was probably tired of being handicapped with certain things and then being expected to compete with Oak Grove, Brandon and Petal come playoff time.
  22. Dubose will be gone in 2 years. Too much red tape for him to stay long term. He is used to having whatever he wants/needs and that is not how things work in Biloxi.
  23. I was not impressed with Lemonis from the beginning. Never made it past a regional and never finished higher than 3rd in a conference that is not known for baseball excellence. He had a ton of success early on playing with guys that were not his recruits. Once those guys phased out and his recruits began playing, you saw the drop off. There were several players he signed that were head scratchers to me. Zero excuse to be where State is as a program with the facilities, resources and players you can get there.
