  1. I believe that for the sake of the heat acclimation rule that the the first two weeks of shorts are M-F. After that 10th day of shorts you are free for full pads. We always had a full gear scrimmage on the Saturday morning following that last day of shorts and shoulder pads
  2. It is considered full gear as the rule says shoulder pads and helmets only. That's why those schools have already been put on probation and others will be as well.
  3. O'Connor, right now, is my top pick. If they have to go the assistant route I think I go after Elander. Don't really want anybody with State ties.
  4. I was talking to someone about ticket prices the other day. Most schools are around $8, with a few at $10. Thirty plus years ago when I began ticket prices were $5, so prices really haven't gone up but 3-5 dollars in 30 plus years, really not that bad.
  5. There's discussions taking place about some kind of changes. Whether it's breaking from the NCAA or the playoff model, or something different I have no clue. I think you treat it like the professional model. Set a salary cap, then require players to sign binding contracts. Freshman recruits sign 3 year contracts with a 4th year option. Transfers sign a 2year contract unless you are a grad transfer. If you decide to "red shirt" (quit on the team) you lose that years pay. Fine schools that contact players from others schools prior to there contracts expiring.
  6. The transfer issue is due to a Justice Department lawsuit ruling that athletes can transfer as many times as they want without sitting out. The NCAA has no control over this now.
  7. With the new collective bargaining maybe colleges will/can use the NFL model of contracts. Every freshman signs a three year contract that allows for a fourth year option. If you choose to red shirt you lose that years pay. If you choose to sit out you don't et paid. If the school red shirts you then you still get paid. Anyone coming in on the transfer portal has to sign a minimum 2 year contract unless you only have one year or eligibility remaining. All sports
  8. Honestly don't see this as a big loss. He's 6'10 and plays at 6'4. I'll take the trade of him for the big from Wichita.
  9. Must find a guy that can dominate on both ends of the floor, another shooter and the fill in the pieces, but I think a dominate big guy is a must. A guy that's gonna be a double double or close guy and defends the rim.
  10. A change definitely has to be made, but where do you go? Corbin, Shoshnagle, MacDonald all turned us down last time that's how we ended up with Lemonis.
  11. Based on season play State has to keep Baylor under 80 to have a chance.
  12. Could it have something to do with the coliseum? Several years back they had to adjust the schedule because it was booked the week they normally held the state tournament.
  13. They are going to promote the DC but for some reason are dragging their feet to do it.
  14. It wasn't appealing last time it was open that's how we ended up with Lemo.
  15. I honestly look for State to be one and done, and Janz on the way out. He has been mentioned at a couple places. Just too much inconsistency defensively. I think I saw that we had only lost maybe 2 games when giving up less than 80 and 1-10 giving up more than 80.
  16. Baseball is a long season. A lot of it is like they say in MLB, you ae going to win and lose 50 games no matter what you do, it's what you do in the other 62. Same here, You are most likely going to win 10-12 and lose 10-12, but what do you do in the other 15. Right now when State gets good pitching they win. Got to find two more guys for Saturday and Sunday. I don't think it's Ligon and Simmons are the answer.
  17. He needs to sit a few games and try to get it out of his head. He has had some big games for us over the years but struggled for the most part last year and has been putrid this year. Can't hit the breaking ball and almost refuses to hit the ball to the opposite field. Throw him hard away and mix in good breaking balls and he is a very easy out. Should have been PH for his last time up the other night.
  18. If Jay has full authority for this hire I expect it to be a good hire. Although he hasn't been an AD he has been in the business as and assistant and Head coach at major universities and knows what it takes to build and sustain a program.
  19. Matthews has been non existent on offense since the Kentucky game. I think he maybe took 2 or 3 shots last night. Offensively they rarely attack the goal with an inside post or dribble drive. It's normally high ball screens, without the roll to the basket, or pass and dribble until they have to throw up a prayer. Hubbard did attack several times lase night. And please, if you are 6'10 and and get to the rim rip the goal off the backboard. On defense we double when the ball goes inside or try and trap the dribbler, both which lead to wide open 3 pointers. People talked about Coleman hasn't shot like that all year. He probably hasn't been left wide open like that all year. It was the same the Kentucky game. I would rather take our chances 1 on 1 and possibly give up 2 points than leave the 3 wide open.
  20. He is applying for a red shirt, but that doesn't mean it will actually be at State. Hopefully it will.
  21. Any movement on any of these jobs?
  22. Unless the half court offense, or lack there of, improves it is going to be a long disappointing stretch.
  23. If State doesn't get fast break points or offensive put backs they struggle offensively. They may have the worst half court offense in basketball. Al they do is pass or dribble around the perimeter. No one attacks the basket, no dribble drive to draw the foul or then kick it out. That's why SC shot triple the FT that we had.
  24. Have heard he is not the only one to have turned it down. Maybe someone knows for sure
