  1. Scuttle but is they are hoping to keep it at OM the next 2 years, then either MSU or USM, after that, then the other. But, they are hoping to stay 3 consecutive year at each school. Like I said that is scuttle but. And i don't know that Veterans will be in the rotation unless the other 3 can't host. And then again it could be there next year.

Not calling you out. All I was saying was that the field wasn't destroyed like a HS field would have been. I didn't see the last game, but I didn't see that many more kids slipping than do on a Friday night when the heavy dew sets in the 2nd half of a game. Field turf gets wet when it rains and players slip on it. Just glad the OM turf crew had the means to keep it in, not great, but good condition. Hats off to them.
  3. If it's wet kids are going to slip on field turf. Obviously the field conditions weren't perfect but I thought it held up pretty well. Even with the rain it was in much better condition for the last game than the last time they played it in Jackson, and they had no rain.
  4. Agreed. How many kids if asked "would you rather play the state championship at _____ high school or at OM or MSU" would say at a high school? Yes it may be tough for some fans, but like all things if it's important enough you will find a way. And, most do.
  5. And, he has. Will be interesting to see if State can afford him.
  6. Ohio State and Oklahoma QB's have already entered portal, so they both will have new QB's. I'm sure there will be many others enter portal or opt out. The opt out, portal, and NIL have ruined college football.

What was that about the field? As I told someone earlier, that's not the typical high school field.
  8. Best Post on this topic. It was moved from MC years ago because they couldn't handle the crowds. Even the 1 and 2A crowds were pushing them to max.
  9. This isn't the typical high school field. I'm sure there will be very little damage to the field/ grass. Several years ago the 6A game at MSU was postponed because of a flood/power outage. The field was under water, you could see no grass. The next day you couldn't tell it had rained. Right now the heaviest rain chance for the weekend is from 8:00 tonight til about 4:00 Friday morning.
  10. Turner being kept and OLine coach sounds like it will be Clements from N.Carolina
  11. One of the resasons it's not on PBS anymore. They weren't willing to change announcers. Most of the announcers now are college, or juco announcers. I know in the past Matt Wyatt has done several.
  12. Take an umbrella or pancho, pun intended. Unless there's lighting they will play.
  13. Not gonna say 100%, but sounded as if Elko might have been 1A
  14. From an almost always correct, reliable source inside, who text me at 12:30 Sunday morning that it was Lebby, Elko was given until a specific time Saturday night and was on verge of accepting then A&M called. Lebby was the top coordinator choice from the coordinator pool. I like the hire 1. He doesn't have to Googled to know who he is. 2. He has created excitement among fans. 3. Most importantly he has created excitement among the Players and recruits. Chadwell was a serious candidate but the buyout was to high, little over 20 million.
  15. Biggersville and Velma definitely, but I wouldn't be shocked at Baldwyn and Simmons winning.
  16. Don't think Kiffin goes anywhere, unless his ego gets in the way and he goes chasing a Natty. As for State, they MUST open the bank and go get a coach that has had success at the power 5 level. Someone that will create excitement for fans and players alike. I for one would like to see them make Kyle Whittingham say no to a 8-10 million dollar contract. He has won everywhere.
  17. Do we need to or will we make a change, I don't know. But if we do it needs to a big time Power 5 coach or very successful coordinator. Now the million dollar question, WHO wants our job. Leech was not our first choice, no other big time coach wanted it.
  18. If the defense played as they have all year probably the same. If better defense then probably 5-3, 6-2 at best.
  19. If Will is not able to play State will be lucky to score14. While Wright is dynamic with his legs, his inability to throw the ball down the field really hampers the offense. Auburn will definitely crowd the LOS to stop the run. Will can't run but his ability to get the ball down the field from the pocket opens up the offense, if State can protect, which has also been an issue. Even if Will can play they still need to have 10-15 plays for Wright.
  20. In today's world of instant gratification, coaches, in most cases, aren't going to be given over a couple years to win or their out. John Wooden coached 14 years at UCLA before winning his first Championship. That will never happen in todays win now society.
  21. Typically the snubs are the 1A and 2A kids that get left out. I haven't seen many games this year, but in the past there have been at least a half a dozen or more kids from these schools better than players chosen at thier position. They just have that small school stigma so they aren't chosen. The one chosen this year are good choices.
  22. 1a through 4a are basically following the same schedule as it used to be. They are playing the same amount of games, 10. They are allowed a 2 quarter scrimmage, but teams have always had a scrimmage, just not against another team. 5a Through 7a have the option of an 11th game.
  23. I played in the mid 80's. We began practice the 2nd week of August, somewhere around the 10th. We went 3 days of shorts and helmets and 2 days of shoulder pads the first week before beginning full pads for 3 weeks. First game was the last week of August, usually around 29th-31, maybe September 1 or 2. The state championship games were the first weekend in December just as they are now. This is the same exact schedule the MHSAA is using now with two exceptions. 1. 1st week is mandated shorts and helmets only and week 2 can add shoulder pads. No full pads the 1st 10 days.
