Scott central is the best in the south. Kind of all a wash after that. No other teams really stick out

Columbia actually wants east and west Marion to consolidate with them. I don’t think east and west want to merge with Columbia. But honestly it would make sense

Smith county schools would not look near as appealing if it weren’t for Mize. Raleigh has improved some, but taylorsville’s scores aren’t very good. There curriculum isn’t the same either. If Tville was taking the same tests as mize, their scores would be even worse. They make Tville take easier curriculum to make their numbers look better. Mize has the hardest curriculum, which is easier than the actual state testing. Then when state testing comes up, it’s a breeze for those students compared to their regular curriculum. That makes their state testing look better. Schools don’t actually teach academics anymore. They just train you how to take state tests.

The superintendent may be the most despised man in smith county. We voted him out a few years ago, then when the state went to board appointed supervisors, the board brought him back in. If it were ever an elected position again, he would get voted back out. He’s not anti sports though. He has a ton of flaws, but he isn’t against the sports programs. If he could have his way though, he would force every kid to wear a mask for the rest of their lives and force them to be vaxxed just to come to class. He’s always been scared to death of covid.

There was a rumor going strong this weekend that mize and Tville were about to consolidate. Those rumors aren’t true. Heck Tville just built a multi million dollar baseball stadium and hired a 3rd principle. There isn’t any consolidating happening anytime soon. If it does, we talking years down the road. They do need to do something fast though. They struggle academically, and lose tons of teachers every year
-
Enterprise is a traditional power… lol. What’s even funnier is that you really do believe that is true.
-
There isn’t likely going to be a ton of interest. I say that because there wasn’t a ton of interest last year when it was open. They just had close to another 20 teachers leave. And it’s like that every year lately.
-
I would not make that wager if I were you.
-
Anybody else at the USM games today? Who won the game between the Louisiana and Alabama teams ?
-
They did have a couple players out. And enterprise will eventually break your heart like they’ve always done in another year or two. Then you will go back to wanting to fire your coach again.
-
We actually don’t want them. We don’t want to consolidate in any way. Not everything evolves around sports. You should know that because Enterprise is a traditional bottom dweller and you have experienced their suckfest for most of your life. They got them a good coach a few years ago, that you actually wanted fired, and he’s finally got them to winning. But you will still never be on Mize’s level. Your 3 game win streak doesn’t erase history.
-
Consolidation won’t happen in smith county anytime soon. Too many parents and school board members against it. Taylorsville may become a K-8. Then you split 9-12 students between Raleigh and Mize. Northern Tville students go to Raleigh, southern Tville go to Mize.

Saturday morning jamboree at USM Varsity: Mize -12 Clarkdale - 0 JV: Mize - 22 Clarkdale - 0

Taylorsville is not the job it once was. The school is struggling, and smith county does not pay their coaches hardly anything.
-
Taylorsville could be in some trouble. Teachers are leaving like crazy. Discipline issues with the junior high from what I have been told. Just not a good scenario for them. To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if they closed the high school down within the next 10 years and sent those students to Mize and Raleigh. Raleigh is getting smaller student wise, but I don’t think their academics are struggling. Mize is most definitely the best school academically, and is actually one of the best schools in the entire state. A lot of people trying to get their kids in our district.
-
Mize plays Clarkdale at USM in 2 weeks.
-
The district won’t stay weak as it was last season. Probably will be weak for one more year. After that it could be a pretty stout one. Raleigh will join that region, and if bay springs moves up they also will be in that region. One wouldn’t expect collins to stay down very long as well, especially if the hopewell kids will no longer be offered the bus route to seminary. It’s not a region that will be too friendly to north Forrest. I don’t know what’s happened to that school but it’s went down pretty fast.

2023-24 Reclassification will only count 9-11 grades
Chunky6617 replied to Rebel Bert's topic in Football
My son is in the 7th. That’s pretty close. I was thinking 89 but I must have been off a little. The 7th, 8th, and 9th are our largest grades in the whole school I believe. Everybody else is between 50-60. That’s still 2A numbers though correct? -

Gotcha. For some reason I was thinking grades 9-12. -

I’m not sure where these numbers came from but I don’t think they are correct. I know Mize has more than 50 students in every single grade. I think we average between 55-60. We would have higher than 193. -
Reclassification Could Occur As Soon as This Fall (22-23)

I doubt Simpson Academy gets much larger. People don’t want to pay that much money. You may see Puckett or Mize get larger. -

Even if bay springs moves up, I don’t think Raleigh goes to region 6. I think you would see the smith county and Jasper county schools in the same region. Mize, Raleigh, Bay Springs, Stringer, Heidelberg. Puckett will probably go with Pisgah and Pelahatchie -

This is from the old numbers 2 years ago. This won’t be what it looks like. Some of these schools have consolidated -

I have from a pretty solid source that it’s official. Like, about as solid a source as you can get. Unless something changed
