A recommendation not a mandate. In other words you have been warned, your on your own if you get a law suit filed against you. Then we will ban you from the field, shut your season down, etc etc.

Most of us speak with friends, neighbors, etc at the games. Certainly you don't want alcohol or weed breath. And especially if run into that guy wearing a badge.

Breaking from the director of MHSAA: MHSAA attorneys highly recommend NO tailgating. All Security Measures are to be gone over with officials this week. Extra Security if you allow tailgating. All Security are to updated, hard copied, on Dragonfly and with you at the game. No Alcohol, No Drugs, No Tobacco, No Fire Arms on any Campus at Anytime. If Security or school officials smell alcohol you do not hesitate to send you home.

Schools have policies against alcohol and drugs. Its obvious that u can't stop a fan from drinking. You can denigh him or her entrance if you smell it or they dog drunk. Sometimes you assume the person shooting may have been impaired himself. As a parent you wouldn't want to be around it under normal circumstances. Some of us are simply not raised around it nor do we partake. But if u walk down the sidewalk going to the stands then u just make a judgement call. Enjoy the game and leave most likely afterwards.

We don't know if their victims were from Heidelberg or Bay Springs. I am sure there are family ties from both communities. Heidelberg fans may retaliate and Bay Springs likewise. We don't know what's been said back and forth already.

I can see neutral site providing stadium is available Thursday thru Saturday with no fans and no tailgating.

The fact that the shooting occurred on campus after the game is a problem. According to the Handbook if he ever gets out on bond or parole he will likely be banned from high school events and campuses in the state. Its likely those killed had ties to both Bay Springs and Heidelberg.

Bay Springs/Heidelberg game may not be played per sources. A forfeit maybe in play after Friday night. Forced or otherwise!

My interpretation of the MHSAA rules on page 44 of the Handbook: 4.10.10 Spectator or fan(Shooter)'s 1) Probation 2) $500 paid by the school 3) 1 yr probation of Spectator from all games 4) Other penalties as deemed appropriate for severity of the violation 4.10.11 Wholesome Competition (School) 1) 1 year probation 2) $1500 fine 3) Spectator on probation 4) 1 year no Home Games 5) Suspended Spectator from games 6) No fans at Games 7) No fans at Home or Away games School pays for hearings and meetings of the investigation by MHSAA 9) Other penalties as deemed necessary I suppose what is deemed as wholesome. Alcohol & weed on campus may very well trigger the penalties. My guess also is that tailgating and parties on campus to an end. Hard pill to swallow if fans are told to stay home on Friday nights until October 11, 2026.

If it is being played at Heidelberg then I can see it. If its at Bay Springs then maybe no fans from Heidelberg. No fans may have to be the way going forward the rest of this season.

Some sort of probation with no tailgating. I can't see punishing the team. This will be punishment of the school, probation, etc. I would hope that it won't be that have to play before empty stands for a year.

They did lose a qb to graduation. Probably somewhat of a rebuilding reloading year.

Well the FBI Director is involved with at least the Leland issue. Must be something federally involved.

Someone has to be paying the light bill or play in the dark.

With alcohol and weed on campus will Heidelberg be put on any kind of probation. My guess is no. I do believe there school will not be allowed to have an after party on campus fox x # of years involving alcohol and weed.They may not be allowed to tailgate going forward. And I am sure all schools will be herrington from MHSAA office. And I am all safety protocols and procedures will have to be updated by all.

JDC and Enterprise may be done for the year. Enterprise definitely at best 1st round beat down at Scott Central

North Jackson Field should be home for Lanier and Callaway. Hughes Field home for Provine and Jim Hill. South Jackson Field is the home of Forest Hill. Murrah should alternate between North and Hughes. All I will say is the officials shouldn't have let the game be played until corrections were made to the lines.

A city on the decline will give you more of this going forward. The game could have and should have been played over close to across the street from Provine which is much closer to Jim Hill and a shorter drive for Hattiesburg. Bailey Alternative High School no longer exist. Previous administration have not prioritized a safer and livable Capital City.
