Low 220s I am hereing definitely 2A.

Last years 8-12 was 190. They are still loosing students. Scratching my head as to where they are going. Makes me think Raleigh and Mize will increase along with Sylva Bay and Simpson Academies.

South 2A will be the new SEC West and who ever wins out will earn it with good gate money. 3A South will be weaker without Raleigh, Enterprise, and maybe Clarkdale.

Perry Central and St Patrick

Based on my research before they voted to only count 9-11 grades I had: Clarkdale, St Andrew's, and Enterprise Ckarke were borderline 3A/2A. Independence, Holly Springs, and Jefferson County would go back to 3A from the January 2A list. Union, Raleigh, and Wilkinson County would stay 2A from that list. Strayhorn and East Marion would drop to 1A from the list and Bogue Chitto and Bay Springs move up. If Taylorsville moves up I count 25 schools in South Ms. Region 4 will then be Jackson area or Meridian area and that puts the dividing of regions in play with Region 4 as: Velma Jackson, St Andrew's, Pisgah, Pelahatchie, and Puckett, or Philadelphia, Union, Sebastopol, Scott Central, and Lake.

That makes me think Raleigh will be really low on the 2A list at least the bottom 20. They were #3 in last years numbers. That's scary and makes m e think there can be 100 schools between 150 and 300. All bets are off.

I can see where the director will try to keep County schools together such as Smith, Jasper, Scott, Rankin, and Newton Counties. I just think someone has to split. Whether that means all 3 Smith county schools together or just 2 we will see. Raleigh is sitting further south than Bay Springs, further east than Mize. For that matter Union, Philadelphia, and Sebastopol may go north with say with Choctaw County if they drop. St Andrew's or St Patrick or maybe Sacred Heart figures in here.

I am counting 23 schools in South 2A with Taylorsville. Someone is going north. My projections will be: 2A Region 5 Enterprise Heidelberg Newton, Union Philadelphia 2A Region 6 Sebastopol Scott Central Lake Puckett Raleigh 2A Region 7 Loyd Star West Lincoln Wilkinson County Amite County Bogue Chitto 2A Region 8 North Forrest Collins Bay Springs Mize Taylorsville Region 4 Pelahatchie Pisgah Velma Jackson

4A/3A cut off in January was 448/442, 3A/2A was 290/290, 2A/1A was 204/203. Now if you take 75% cut equaling one grade it becomes: 4A/3A = 348, 3A/2A = 217.5, 2A/1A = 153.6. Now I can see where Taylorsville is 2A. Maybe Taylorsville and Mize go 1A.

I am thinking those long drives to Salem and Resurrection may have played a roll here.

Last years numbers were: 7th 84 8th 65 9th 72 10th 56

That is only 8 off of what last year's number would have been. I can't see Taylorsville turning that high of a number in unless they had some kids come back from Sylva Bay or Simpson etc.

Forest to 4A Morton is at top of 3A. This really puts Region 5 3A stretching from Jackson to Meridian or from Jackson to Natchez possibly in Region 6.

I am not dead set on this region. I think North Forest, Collins, Mize, Heidelberg would be left In Region 8 with Stringer in 1A. Then who goes with them Bay Springs or Raleigh. Or do you have Region 5 Philadelphia, Newton, Lake, Kemper County, and who do you send Scott Central or Enterprise. I think Raleigh is a toss up for Degion 6 or 8. I can't see Mize having that small of a number.

Strength of schedule is weak. Region 7 3A is weak with the exception of Tylertown.

St Andrew's, St Patrick, and Sacred Heart are playing all sports this year except football. Maybe it starts with 2023-24 school year.

That's new to me.

I think it's like MSU. The more you put them down the harder both Enterprise and the pups of Starklessville play.

Will the independent football schools play region play in 2023?

This about as secretive of a reclassification as we have ever had. No Twitter, no Facebook no info at all given out.
