14-3 Mize over East Marion at half
-
14-0 Simmons over Nanih Waiya HT
-
Not really. Just another issue to add to the pile I guess.

MAIS handbook says more than 50 males grades 8-11 disqualifies a team from playing in an 8 man championship. I just don’t really agree with schools that have the numbers to play 11 man playing 8 man. Yes they won a championship, but you played teams with half the numbers and resources you have. There’s probably several 11 man teams that have smaller numbers than them. Seems like a flawed system to me personally.

As long as Mize focuses on beating East Marion and not themselves, they should win this game and be in South State vs Heidelberg. I think when they put it all together they are a top 3 team in 2A.
-
I know this is not related to scores and updates, but how do you feel about River Oaks having 35-40 players and 6 coaches playing 8 man football? Even played an 11 man game against Canton Academy and won 41-11. Humphreys only has between 20-25 according to Maxpreps (which is not really reliable), but I would say it could even be possibly less than 20. Should the MAIS be regulating this better?

Do you think there’s a chance Biggersville can compete? Calhoun City looks to be on a whole different level than everyone else in 1A right now. Me personally I think Biggersville may have a better chance of giving them a close game than anyone in the south.

Don’t know how accurate this website is but it says Carter made 70k in 2024. https://govsalaries.com/carter-darryl-202140080

That’s true. Not taking away from Simmons because they are a really good team. I think they have a good chance at a South State championship repeat. I’m just curious to see how they perform going on the road 2 and a half hours to Nanih Waiya. They came out of Lumberton victorious last season after a long road trip. Can they do it again? Should be interesting

Simmons wins over Stringer 30-14. Game was tied 8-8 midway through the 3rd quarter. Simmons RB goes down with serious injury. No ambulance or medical staff on sight. Ambulance has to travel 35 min from Greenville to pick up player. Results in a delay of right an hour. After delay Simmons outscores Stringer 22-6. They will travel to Nanih Waiya next week. Curious to see how they do as a road team with all the help they get at home.
-
Prayers for Simmons RB. Horrific injury in the 3rd quarter of their game against Stringer.

Stringer and Simmons tied 8-8 at halftime

There are a couple 8 Man games tonight.

I agree with Lumberton Nanih Waiya prediction. Stringer and Simmons has the makings to be a good game. Hollandale is a hard place to play though. If Stringer was hosting this game, I would say they win convincingly, but going 3 hours up there is gonna be tough. As long as Stringer can contain their speed and move the ball efficiently, they have a real chance of pulling the upset. If they can pull the upset, it would be a huge win for the future outlook of their program under Brady. No matter what the outcome is going from 2 wins to at least 9 wins in just 2 years is impressive.

Tville’s defense might be the best in 1A outside of Calhoun City. Fast and physical. People wrote them off early in the year, and they have kept the receipts and proved a lot of people wrong including myself. They should roll comfortably all the way to South State.
-
I agree. Also add Nanih Waiya into that conversation. Tville is my favorite out of the south for sure, but they will have to go on the road for south state unless Stringer upsets through their side of the bracket. In my opinion Tville Stringer and Nanih Waiya are playing the best ball in 1A south right now in that order. Keep your eyes on that Lumberton Nanih Waiya game though next Friday night. That could be an upset.

Looking into East more. They look wishy washy big time. 38-6 over North Forrest one week then the very next week loses to Perry Central 26-6. I feel like East still has a chance because of the struggles Bay Springs offense has had this year. Luckily their defense is pretty good, so should be close on paper at least in my opinion.
-
Mize @ Wesson should be awesome. Hopefully the fumblitis stays away. Bay Springs @ East Marion should be good too.

The south is weak mostly besides Raleigh. Raleigh is a really good team. I think defensively they are arguably better than the 2022 state championship team. Very physical. I don’t know how they will match up against Winona or Noxubee, but I think they have what it takes to win for sure. Besides them Seminary is not a bad team. Union is 11-0 versus mostly weak opponents but will run into said Raleigh team 3rd round. Either way should be one of the closer championship games out of all the classes.
-
Really good list. Don’t think you can argue against any of those. 6A and maybe 3A are the only ones that are kind of toss ups IMO. More 6A than 3A
-
I agree. Stringer has been playing good football lately and is battle tested. Not sure how the 3 hour bus ride will affect them though.

28-8 Final for Simmons?
-
36-12 Stringer over Mount Olive. Final
-
Most likely gonna host Stringer next week. They’re winning 36-6 over Mount Olive 1:52 left in 3rd
-
I feel like Simmons will find a way to hold on
