  2. They are like the #4 team in Tennessee and just upset a school from California last Friday night that is #6 nationally according to Maxpreps.
  3. Yeah i’m glad he was able to find somewhere to play for the year. He is a talented player. He will move back to WJ in the spring and be an impact player for them next season.
  4. That’s good to hear. He was at Stringer last year and had over 700 yards receiving and 9 TD’s in a Wing-T offense to go along with 48 tackles and 4 INT’s. He transferred to West Jones spring of this year and got caught in a messy situation to say the least and got ruled ineligible for MHSAA play this year. Think this was his first week at Wayne. He has an offer from Troy and I think is getting looks from MSU from what i’ve heard.
  5. I’m curious to see how Taylorsville North Forrest turns out next week This will be the first game Taylorsville is playing someone close to their talent level. Enterprise on the other hand might go 0-4 in district play and miss the playoffs.
  6. They should score next week. Taylorsville and North Forrest should be a good game.
  7. How is Wayne’s new receiver doing? Don’t know what number he’s wearing, but moved from West Jones.
  8. According to MaxPreps Heidelberg 32-0 over Taylorsville Bay Springs 14-7 over Philadelphia at halftime Raleigh 30-14 over Mize halftime
  9. 16-0 Stringer over Salem. 4:15 left in 1st
  10. Polkville to Raleigh High School is a 29 min drive. Summerland to Mize is only 17 min, and Summerland to Raleigh is 24. Of course it’s not ideal, but it is do able. Overall, I think people in Taylorsville will fight consolidation similar to Mount Olive, and it will be prolonged for several years longer than it should be. If you are a 25-30 year old that is looking to start your kids in the Tville school system, I think they will still graduate from Taylorsville High School. It will probably be run down, education will be poor, and they will be non competitive in sports, but I think people in the community will cause enough uproar to prolong it that long.
  11. From what I have heard I think Sylva Bay has only gained maybe 5-10 kids from Taylorsville this year that I know of. I can only think of 2 that are in JR High that moved from there that play sports. High school I don’t think there’s any. Sylva Bay honestly probably gets as many kids from Raleigh as they do Taylorsville. Mize is probably getting the most from what I have heard. Stringer has gotten a few. Sylva Bay is not super appealing either because for one like you said they play 8 man football. They did reclassify and they are now able to compete in the playoffs this year, but the school itself has dropped in enrollment probably 50 students since COVID for whatever reason. They are dressing out under 20 on both the Jr High and Varsity football teams. Plus, the education is not as good as public school, and it costs 5k a year to go there. I think more people are either moving out of Smith County to send their kids to a better school, or if they are not involved in sports choosing to homeschool.
  12. I think their QB from last year who was a heck of an athlete graduating has hurt them drastically on the offensive side of the ball. Similar to Taylorsville, the bulk of both teams came back this year and would be considered a veteran group, but some of the key players they had last year that made them “go” so to speak are now gone due to graduation. Taylorsville lost their 3 year starter at QB last year due to graduation and look how they have struggled offensively. Lumberton will be fine in 1A play because they have a veteran defense and they’re big up front, but they are basically in a rebuilding phase I guess you could say.
  13. I highly doubt it. West Marion and Purvis beat them pretty handily. Their only win so far is North Forrest by 17. They’ll be a top tier team in 1A still though. Probably a toss up to win their district with Stringer and Taylorsville being about on the same level up to this point in the season IMO.
  14. From what I hear the younger talent isn’t great either, so it’s gonna take a coach who’s really determined to put in the time to develop those younger guys. I don’t know if that will be Agee or someone else. People on this site were singing Agee’s praises before the season started, and now we don’t hear anything about him. Is it the same situation as last year coaching decision wise, or is it just a talent issue?
  15. They went 2-8 in 1989. They only scored 75 points as a team that year as well. I think this season will be a little better than that, but when those 17 seniors graduate, they may be as bad or worse than that 1989 team. As said on another thread on this site, I think they’re on the path to becoming the next Mount Olive or even potentially Weir down the road.
  16. I agree. I’m most curious to see how many points Tville’s offense can put up against them. I know you say Mize’s defense has been kind of struggling thus far, and Tville only managed to score a single offensive touchdown if I remember right against them. Even if they have a good defense, you can’t win many games scoring only one TD on offense.

Enterprise could be 3-6 or 2-7 going into this game. The only game I see a pretty much guaranteed win for Enterprise is North Forrest, and I could see North Forrest pulling off an upset. If anything you may could call that matchup a toss up. Taylorsville might be a win, but it’s more of a toss up as well IMO. I think this game could be the battle for the 4 seed in 2A Region 6 if neither team can beat Clarkdale.
  18. I’m curious to see how they fare against North Forrest. That should determine whether they can make something out of this year or things have completely went south. I think Taylorsville should win, but by how much?
  19. I think they’ll be a 2 or 3 seed in their district. Richton and Resurrection are a different level of bad. Them and Stringer should be a good game like it was last year. Lumberton is probably a little better right now.

Mize and Clarkdale is kind of a toss up to me right now. Clarkdale hasn’t really played anyone yet, but they’ve won every game by 20+. Enterprise is most likely last.
  21. Salem 30 Richton 12. The Salem Wildcats are 3-0.
  22. Overall, I think South Jones actually has a more explosive offense than West Jones. Their QB has a good arm, and they have some receivers on the outside that are pretty talented. I think West will be a little more physical and they model their gameplan on wearing South down. I think West runs the ball a whole lot in this game especially with South having a pretty good secondary this year. Not saying they won't let Lindsey drop back and sling it every now and then, but if they want to win, I think they do it by playing physical football on both sides. Northeast almost beat South with that game plan, and I think West can execute that plan better, but I don't know if it will be good enough. Overall, it should be a heck of a game that will come down to the wire. Definitely a toss up, but I think South wins just slightly. If they are gonna beat West, this is the year.
