Yes. Most 1A teams don’t have the depth or amount of athleticism to compete with 2a or larger schools. There is the usual one or two a year that do and they usually dominate. Bay Springs a few years ago is an example. Calhoun City is a current presentation of that. While Taylorsville would equal a below average 2A team in current times, they are still a top tier 1A football team.

I would be surprised. I have been to 9 out of 10 Stringer games, and I would say they are playing their best football right now. They have struggled defensively all year until the 2nd half of the Lumberton game and something seemed to click. That Mount Olive game was one of their worst games defensively IMO. You know what they say though, it is hard to beat a team twice. Like I said it would surprise me to see Stringer lose, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Mount Olive give Stringer a run for their money once again.

I think if anyone can get in Heidelberg’s head it’s Bay Springs. Heidelberg is by far the better team and will probably still score 60, but it would be kind of cool if it happens and Bay Springs makes it a game.

I agree with all of these except maybe Scott Central over Clarkdale. Definitely a toss up in my book. Then I think Wesson could make it to south state. A Heidelberg Bay Springs South State championship would be awesome though. Maybe not for law enforcement but otherwise.

Yep. Calhoun City should run the table kind of like Heidelberg is in 2A. The south has a lot of average teams and should be very competitive. My biggest question mark currently is how good Simmons actually is. You never really know how good they are until playoffs come around and they actually start playing somewhat decent teams.

Taylorsville might win 10 in a row all the way to the State Championship if they keep handling business. The only team that really poses a threat on their side of the bracket in my opinion is Leake County who is beatable for sure.

You think Clarkdale can upset Scott Central on the road? That one interests me.

My Top 10 right now in 1A going into last regular season games: 1): Calhoun City 2): Simmons 3): Biggersville 4): Taylorsville 5): Nanih Waiya 6): Stringer 7): Leflore County 8): West Lowndes 9): Leake County 10): Lumberton

Enterprise might as well just go ahead and suit up for basketball season.

Huge upset in Region 8. Stringer beats Lumberton 46-20.

Stringer 46 Lumberton 20 Final

Stringer 38 Lumberton 20 End 3rd. 22 Point 3rd quarter for Stringer.

The mighty Enterprise Bulldogs are losing 23-6 to their rival Clarkdale in the 2nd quarter according to Clarke County Hot Topics.

Lumberton 20 Stringer 16 half

Stringer 8 Lumberton 6 End 1

Yep. That’s pretty much Stringer’s key to success. Their 2 losses have been when they lost control of the clock. The Taylorsville game was competitive until they got down 2 scores and couldn’t move the ball. Lumberton is supposed to have one of the better front 7’s they have faced. I’m curious to see how well they move the ball against another high caliber 1A defense.
-
Huge. I’m curious to see if Stringer can redeem themself after their big loss at Taylorsville. Defense is gonna have to step up for them to take the next step.
-
Yep. Saw some of the game on NFHS. I don’t know if they will ever score based off what I saw.

Mize 20 Bay Springs 14. Bay Springs has one of the best defenses Mize has faced all year. Bay Springs’s offense on the other hand is lacking. As long as Mize can stop the run and not beat themselves, they will win, but not by 4 touchdowns.
-
I heard ACL, but they may just be a rumor. Hopefully it’s just something minor.
-
They have much more speed and athleticism than Enterprise. They are a good team no matter what happened last Friday night. Miles better than last season. Their new coach has done a fantastic job in his first year. I did hear one of their better athletes had a season ending injury against Mize, which is unfortunate, but I still think they win big Friday night. Only way Enterprise has a chance is if they can control the clock.

Several of them were former athletes at Bay Springs. I know 2 for sure were starters on their 2023 football team. Not sure where any of them lived. I’m sure spread out throughout the west side of Jasper County.
