Random observations and opions: Hiring processes are crazy especially here in Mississippi. Its alot you can't do but they circumvent ways to do it. Just know big school hiring has two processes, an open public process thats a charade most times and a private process, in which is an issue but how things actually get done. You don't want the community voting on superintendents. Most people in our rural areas not qualified to serve as superintendents. Picking your church deacon or politician would not be wise but thats how it goes in those situations. Popularity contests. However, the BOEs which are elected in alot of places, are not adequate either so we get this terrible system here that sucks in these rural areas. All of them are good ole boy or back scratching positions where decisions are made on favors and popularity and backroom deals instead of whats good and make sense for the children and school at large. Good luck to Lampley. Great coach and person from all accounts. I hope they ALLOW him to actually suceed. I hope they ALLOW him the same freedom as Broyles or Mangum to run his program and give him the opportunity to coach and flourish.

Oh it definitely has and goes on currently but it is very much illegal to do so. Its one of those things that will never get caught unless someone reports and state auditor gets involved. But very much illegal.

Illegal and I wish the state would crack down on that for all places not just some. You can't pay coaches out of the booster club. I know it happens but it is very illegal. There is a coach that got fired in MS because he kept $11 change from the booster club buying equipment for the team.

I tagged the author of this bill on social media. He hasn't replied to me yet. Im going to do it again today to see such. But my question to him is how do we police this bill? You can get 10K and it not be reported to anyone at all and nobody affiliated with the school will be in control. It also says that NIL can't be used to entice people to come to the school nor can it be used for stats or any of that.What does he think NIL will be for then? They gone give the kid thats not good 10K just because? lol people don't think past their eyes. Also its not publicly known, but Mississippi already has NIL. Its hush hush but its here. How do we know the private schools do better than the public schools. What data can we point to to make that claim? I ask private school supporters what accountability model do the private schools use? Most of them don't know what I am talking about. lol I have no problem with private schools, however most of them were/are just segregation academies that just spit baseless rhetoric to justify separating their kids from the public schools. Thats your right as well but you don't get taxpayer money to pay for it. Fund it with your private money. How is that not logical? We don't like welfare in the country unless its welfare that benefits the people that already have the means. Thats backwards. Then they want the money with none of the oversight or policy. BS. I do agree that change needs to happen in public schools. The testing is a real and big issue. They need less oversight as well to allow schools to cater more to their communities and stakeholders. Thats the power of the citizens though. We could get it done but we can't if we just gonna walk away and point fingers. The public school system is the powerhouse of the country. Instead of us wanting to fix it, we want to strip it of all its resources and take it back to our friends and those around us who would benefit. We don't care about the society as a whole. Thats my issue. Come together and force the powers that be to make the schools work for us. But I will never agree to this... never. ITs just more rich people welfare and a guise to benefit those who already have the means.

Yall make it seem like this is just an easy solution to fix. 1) what "competent" people are going to work there? ITs nothing there. Nothing close to there. They go to Baton Rouge (Zachary) just to go to Wal-Mart or have to go 40 plus minutes up to Natchez. Thats not even countin the people that stay in the backwoods and rural areas there. Thats an hour drive at least. 2) The most competent people in the world can't fix the people problem they have. They are behind. Way behind in everything. Thats not even shade to them, its just the truth. They don't have industry or even regular businesses. Its not a mcdonalds in the entire county. It may be 1.5 grocery stores if you gone call it that in the county. You have a people that don't have good jobs. Nothing to draw from. No taxes. Nothing. 3) The place is so rural and far off that it would be a logistics nightmare to close them. It would almost be beneficial to them to go to louisiana to school. This is truly an unfixable situation to me. Its not about academics. They just trying to survive and make it out there. MDE can't solve that problem.

They been losing their kids to West Feleciana in Louisiana. About 20 minutes from them and they have good football. All the other public schools are at minimum 30 minutes from them on a good day. Its some privates in the county but their kids not hardly going to them.

They don't care about the MHSAA. They want them as far away from this as possible. They are not friends with the MHSAA. They almost disbanded them just a couple years ago behind that track kid at Tupelo.

North Jackson shouldn't be a home for anyone except a trash pile. Hughes is nice I thought there were 2 turf fields in JPS now. Every time we played Lanier it was North Jackson. Every time we played Provine it was Hughes.

Thats not what Pike county has. Pike county has 2 4A schools and a 5A.
