The greatness showed by this picayune team down the stretch is something you don’t see at this leve but once every fifteen years. A team with the coaching , talent and most of all leadership from the players. There is no lagging off on that sideline. Every player is involved in something there all game long. I don’t need to say anything about this team. They said all that needs to be said on the field. The Picayune faithful filled that lower half up and stayed into the whole game. I will always remember sitting there with my friends from Picayune and feeling like we were all family. It was the kind of thing you will always know where you were on this night. Even old Tib kept his cool and didn’t get upset even when WP went up two scores. Till next season guys. We will do it again. Hope everyone made it home safely. I dam near got road raged on Hardy street by a jacked up diesel leaving.

West Point offense is the key to this game. Namely their offensive line. If they can hold their own and stay ahead of the chains on third down they have a chance. I think 28- 31 points by either team will win this game . Everyone thinks the maroon tide will win including me. As I sit around thinking about this game though 05 keeps popping in my mind. We were undefeated and just overwhelming people with our passing game . I was flying into Jackson from way down south man the party was on. “ Who were we playing again ? West joint? Yea I’ll have one. Ooohhh West Port , never heard of em. I think they are close to Tupelo. It’s just academic though right “. Arrogance from all of us. That tune changed pretty dam quick. They made it a point on every play to have somebody in Drex’s face or chase Lampley to the edge where they could run him down. It was a defensive masterpiece for sure but the thing that still sticks with me today is the WP QB scrambling for seven or eight yards on third down over and over again and again. He kept our offense off the field as much the WP defense did. That was the only loss we had for two seasons. Okay that’s far enough down memory lane. I will just say this nobody plays up being the underdog like they do in West Point. We will see what they look like facing the wing t for the second time. Not to mean this in the wrong way but I think they didn’t take Picayune as seriously as they should have last season.and by the time they did they were dealing with a run away train.

Vicksburg didnt have the horsepower to move West Point when the field got short in the red zone .

I know its no consolation in a game like this one was , But, this was two great teams going at it and laying it all on the line. The difference in the teams was not visible, Brandon just has the ball last. It was a great game to watch for someone neutral but it had to be excruciating as a fan of either team. Nothing for Ocean Springs to hang their head about . They gave a good account of themselves. Ya'll will break through soon enough.

I am holding out hope that they miss this forecast like they have been doing down here the last three months. It was only a ten percent chance of rain today. It was been raining and nasty since lunch on the north shore. I don’t sit in rain either.

This is not the biggest or most athletic that the tide has ever had. From my watching they have something you can’t coach.. They feed on and welcome adversity. I think they are on an incredible run and as good as Gautier offense is , they are not the one to break it. Gautier has a period in their games where they explode for two or three TDs then go into a long lull. Last time they played Picayune just went into the lull with them. . I can guarantee that Picayune Coach has seen this too will exploit it. They also were sending everybody to stop the run and got burnt on some swing passes. They will get burnt worse this time if they have to do that again. They did the same thing against us for the run but our passing game resembles Nebraskas trying to play from behind during the Tommy Frost days.I think this game will be already decided for most of the fourth quarter. I want to see more of #4 for Picayune taking the snap

It’s a good thing there is a big high school football game on the coast again. If I wasn’t going to watch the rematch I would definitely be there. The coast needs to show up and pack out this game. Come on Dave you know I love the Greyhounds and they could never be on my bad side Coach Mangum used to coach there and my nieces and nephews will be starting there soon. My kind of people live there. I put Lewis Sims in there because one time he brought Moss Point to Wayne County in the playoffs. They had two tailbacks that could fly. They beat us on the edge almost every play. It was tit for tat scoring for a while and I was genuinely worried that we would lose a possession somewhere and get beat. For some inexplicable reason they stopped running them in the third quarter and started passing every down. We sacked the QB a few times and got an int. After that we zoomed away on the scoreboard. I left that game scratching my head about why he stopped running those race horses. I remember one of their names now. Byron James.

First of all the way that Picayune just performed at the end with the pressure on was a site to behold. With time running down and behind ten points most teams would had wilted when given the chance to get back in the game. Great teams pounce when given the opportunity. See y’all again next week. Now West Jones. What the hell are you doing ? You got the lead in the fourth you are playing against the clock. Everything you do on offense should be with one thought .Keep the clock running . The series before the int West threw it three straight times. You know your QB is a liability throwing. Protect him. You defense is pumped, you get an int. Everyone is celebrating and you let a wr throw a pass. Why ? You got the lead. Run the ball a few times and try to put that ace kicker close enough for a FG. Between that screw up and the series before they could have milked seven minutes off the clock maybe more. The best team won as it should be but changing your formula that is working in midstream is very Lewis Sims like. West defense played their tail off.

As we were leaving Gautier the other night with our tails tucked I was walking with a couple press members and the subject of Sims and the cliff his team had fallen off of. One stated that in Pascagoula it was being circulated that the Vancleave coach would be theirs soon. My question was would he go there ? Wouldn’t it be kind of a slap in the face to his alma mater ? They seemed to think the interest was mutual. I told them he would do well there and they agreed. Would he do it ?

There is always some weird vibe going on at that place. When we were there in Sept. the wind started blowing strong paint thinner fumes in the stadium. .It’s my least favorite place to go watch a game. He’s a charter member of the Mustangs on MSTand cut his teeth in a time when it was dog eat dog on here. It will be the third week in a row West has played defense against the wing. It’s a shame that Oak Grove and Ocean Springs are on the same night would love to see that one too. I’m 5A to the bone so I will be in Picayune once again as a peaceful spectator. Tib , I’ll holler. I’m looking forward to this one. I think it’s going to be intense and swinging back and forth. Lot of people complain and moan but it is a great time to be alive. I love this time of year.

I was impressed by that as well. Certain schools the coach would have been high fiving and chest bumping with their players for that behavior..

I’ve been on the Fant train for a couple of seasons now. How much longer before someone takes him away from the cleave ? I think he could really be trouble for the competition at a school with more players to field a team with.

Gautier was a much more polished ad mature team than Wayne County tonight. We gave them our best shot and I can’t can’t complain about that. There will be plenty of time this off-season to talk about the wrongs. Gautier QB was just that much better. West Jones defense is healthy now and is the wildcard in all of this. Watch out. Hattiesburg what the hell ? Really ? I guess Vott will get “busy “ again and turn back into invisible man. Our region was an embarrassment tonight

What he don’t know is the person back up the street moved the barricade and let me park right there only steps away. I gave them a diet Mountain Dew and they let me in the gate onto the track . No pay. Keep laughing fat man. For Vancleave people they only sell tickets at the gym and it’s a half mile away. You won’t find out till you get to the gate either. Someone else can do West Jones, I don’t want to think about.

I’m assuming we are under the Ellisville district of officials. They need to put out some kind of statement out on this situation. Their silence is a damned indictment right now. I was told today that they were an official short Thursday before the game.Pierson sent after his basketball coach in the stands who appeared minutes later with his ref suit on. WWE style. Pierson talks to ref crew and one of them heads up to press box to run the clock and the basketball coach posts up on the west Jones sideline. The rest is history. The guy was not even officially assigned to ref the game. They almost pulled it off too if not for our basketball coach seeing it. He called both of our TDs back and put a target on himself. Coach Hankins didn’t catch wind of it until after the game . He is understandably beside himself with anger and frustration. It’s time to pull the curtain back on that whole den of snakes in that office and let’s get this all out in the open. I want to know how long this has been going on or all these low level crooks are going to be made famous. They are being walked down now.
