I’m glad the good guys won. A coach going to a school that has to play his old school every year has always been a deal breaker for me.

Ah, the battle to see who plays Picayune in the second round. Here’s the way I see it. I’m probably going to say some things that some are going to not really like but I think it’s true. Tony Vance at home will find a way to score some points. Bye hook or crook. That’s just the way it is. If you can match it a few times there are holes in their game. Hattiesburg can’t execute effectively but about three or four series per game. It’s been that way for years. After that they start making a lot of mistakes. If West can get them to that point their defense stands a good chance of putting points on the board their self. West Jones defense is gold plated stellar. I haven’t looked that closely but I think West Jones hasn’t trailed this season at all and therein lies the big question. I think they will trail early in this game. Can their still a little green QB march them down and actually put it on the defenses back ? After I might add getting hit late a couple of times just to check his chin. That’s Vance. The run will be taken away too to put it on his shoulders. To finish. I don’t think he can. He’s still too young. West will miss Piersons offensive game planning tremendously. No offense to Corey but I don’t think he can pull it off. It will be a rowdy environment and not only players melt in that but coaches too. I think Hattiesburg wins and makes it two in a row.

Lets pump the brakes on eating crow meat right now. Calling it like it is. Laurel had a lot of self inflicted wounds . Granted we took advantage of them but this staff doesn't seem to coach until their backs are against the well. I want to see them win a couple of games in the playoffs before we put the crow in the oven. I heard some people in the tailgate laughed at Hathorne and he shut it down. Sneaking around and seeing what people had in their cups is right in his wheelhouse though, Let the people party, They work hard for their money.

I've been told I was a hard S.O.B. several times before and I probably am. Coach has certainly felt my angst this season but right is right and I have to give credit where it is due. There were supposedly changes made to the team the last couple of weeks . It was evident last night, From the first snap there was a noticeable difference with the attitude and just nastiness at the line of scrimmage. That's what Wayne County football is all about. Don't let the score fool you. This game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicates. Coach has got Laurel's number and that I love. I'm not going to say I am clearing my calendar for Friday nights next month yet but last night has got my attention. The crow took a pellet or two to the wing and maybe flying a little crooked but is no where near ready to be eaten yet. For the record I despise crow. GOOD JOB COACH HANKINS. To be so big Laurel is so, so soft physically. On offense it looks like they have went to their default mode of the QB dropping back and taking off every play. A couple of times our defensive players just grabbed and took the ball away from their RBs. Their defense didn't want to tackle anymore after the first drive. Overall they are too soft to do anything this time of year, I really don't care where we are seeded going into the playoffs . Next week needs to be another dominate performance after that let the cards fall where they may. I just want another shot at Gautier. One thing I didn't care for was Hathorne shutting down the tailgate tents for this game. Why ? You had the 03 champions there twenty years later amping things up and you tried to throw a wet blanket over it.

Them biscuits have us swollen and sluggish. We are in need of a healthy diet menu. No more Golden Corral. I appreciate that. I’ve been a lot of miles following them boys over the years. Met a lot of people and made friends. This whole situation just seems unnecessary. I miss it.

If Coach is gone after the season it will be if his own volition. Hathorne would be the one to initiate it and this is a successful football season to him. I’m not sure but I think he was on the fence about it last year because his son had just graduated and their are certain interests his family has up in Thomasville. Marcus was hanging around town the whole month of December and wanted to come back but took Meridian when Hankins decided to stay. People were behind Marcus coming back and I think Hathorne begged Jack to come back because he was going to lose his handle on things if Boyles put on the whistle again across the street. Dude must have been shaking in his hush puppies at the thought of it. I do know this much. Hankins will leave at some point in the near future. Hathorne CANNOT be allowed to be the sole decider on who the next coach will be. Why would a man who was a failure at coaching football be allowed to determine what philosophy the coach must adhere to ? Matter of fact take him completely out of the process. Ideally I wish Coach Hankins could stay involved in some way. He is first class in every way but it doesn’t translate onto the field on Fridays. If he could take Hathornes place somehow it would be a big win. I think he was thrust into a situation he wasn’t totally prepared for and has now been hung out to dry. Coaching football in South MS is dog eat dog. He’s definitely feeling the pressure. It’s like this all is no big deal to the people in the Superintendents office. It may not be. In any event no one can say they haven’t been told this has been coming for years and I’m saying now there is only one way to start repairing things. It can be fixed quickly. Vilify me all you want but you can’t dispute about our hierarchy in this sport now. Under Stone, Gautier, George County , Pascagoula, West Jones. Where’s the bottom ? I could go on but let that sink in.

Picayune will control the line of scrimmage on both sides and do what they want. I don’t think it will be close. When we played there a few weeks ago the refs gave them the game. Not that we were that much better but I don’t think they liked Coach Hankins giving them hell all game.

They are currently seeing if they can get a special designation to move down to 2A to try and find a starting point to work their way up. Just clarify that’s a joke for the lickers that run back and show certain people what I put on here. I know it’s being done because a statement I put on here was addressed on the Coach’s show. So I’m going to say it again. You don’t know a dam thing about tradition or what it took to win those gold footballs you walk by every day. Anyone that has been paying attention on here the last ten years knows I have been screaming that BUBBA HATHORNE would destroy Wayne County football if he wasn’t rooted out. I know it pains his butt kissing husk that I WAS RIGHT .Congratulations you have all but burnt another program down.The season is over so my muzzle has been ripped off. It’s the one thing about losers. They never figure out why the people they hate win. George County, D’Iberville, Gautier and Stone County would have been run off the field if Marcus or Coach Mangum was calling the shots with this team. I don’t mind seeing incompetents get their just due. The one thing I don’t like, no, I hate it is to see our kids in so much pain because of losing. You could see it in their faces the other night that had put everything they had into that game and still came up short. ENOUGH ITS TIME TO START OVER

I’m not even going to say what I want to one here right now . It wouldn’t sound good. Only this . This experiment is over. In three years it’s been taken apart at the joints. Kids don’t even expect to win anymore. First little thing goes wrong their whole demeanor changes. I hope the community knows where the real fault lies in all of this and dishes out measures accordingly. One more thing, I don’t want to hear one more word about Wayne County tradition and what it means. You don’t know a dam thing about what it means. Letting second rate teams come into our stadium and skull drag our kids. ENOUGH.

Oak Grove looked worn out to start the game and getting jumped on was the difference. They will have to start getting their legs back under them for the post season.

Just to add to this. West Point just lost to Clarksdale. What is wrong with 5A ? It’s a good think we all dropped down. We would have all gotten massacred in 6A. As of today it’s like someone needs to take all of what’s left of 5 A out behind the barn and give it the ole yeller.

Lot of fools gold in that non region schedule. When put on the scale and weighed some of the old rocks were tarnished but they pressed down hard on it. In contrast some of the bright sparkly ones barely moved the needle. There will be another weigh in this Friday. 1. Wayne County- It goes on. WC won a game. Keep throwing it to #12 . It may not be complete every time but the majority of the time sets up a red zone opportunity. Coach Hankins couldn’t contain his emotion after the game and he was swamped by the players in the locker room. That victory took a lot of weight off all of them. They know now that can at least beat someone . We’ve always believed in payback and EC knocked us around pretty good during that covid year so that’s one. There is another one coming in Friday night that has an unpaid whipping from the playoffs last season. Once Gautier got up in that game they wanted to fight after every play and talk trash. So come on up and let’s see if we can make that game an outlier in our history of playing each other. The winner of this game will win the region. One more thing . IDK if coast officials just aren’t used to defensive football but I’m seeing a trend in our games they officiate. Maybe they don’t like Coach Hankins. If that’s the case I hope he stays on them. Unlike some of our recent head coaches they can’t get nothing by him. They may screw us anyway but he lets them know what they are doing it and why. 2. Florence beat Brookhaven but as the season goes on, I become less and less concerned about this group coming out of the south. 3. Coast football has been missing the Pascagoula for a lot of years now . It needs to get back in the fold . That coach at Pass evidently wants to be on the coast. Sweep out that old, stale , crusty system being trotted out year after year and go pay this man. He would put them back on the map. Guaranteed. 4. Coach Boyles will have Meridian in title contention before the end of next season. Their defense has a lot of holes and the offense is far from perfect but they have two or three running plays that are dam near unstoppable now. He will only build on that. That RB turned QB can fly. He reminds me of that RB from Moss Point around 09,10 somewhere in there. In that when he gets past the line he’s gone or it takes the whole defense to put him on the ground. 5. West Jones QB took a step back last week. He started staring at the rush again rather than looking downfield. Corey needs to design some stuff for him to run with blocking in front of him to keep defenses from stampeding at the snap on third and long. Corey needs to step his game up if he can or Hattiesburg will complete what Terry couldn’t. 6. Picayune shouldn’t have another challenge until the playoffs. Save gas and let the ones and twos square off on Fridays it will be a tougher test. I know, I know George County. Blah, blah,blah. Color me unimpressed . I don’t think their fangs are that sharp especially without the officials playing offense for them walking them down the field. 7. I’ve seen and heard several saying Brandon would beat Oak Grove this Friday. Hold on to that. Brandon coach can’t scheme a passing attack at all and will need one to keep up . Causey saves his best for big games. I think OG will jump on them early and not let up and win fairly easily.

I have to give the staff credit. Like everyone else they have seen the need to back up our opponents defense from the line with the pass. You could tell they have been working on it and it payed off big. We play for the region title next Friday night.

Terry is going to be a tough out in y’all’s region. They need to find a way to pass effectively

West offense better find an identity. Corey was too impatient. With West defense you can afford to pound on the other sides defense awhile. If they are going to go anywhere they are going to have to go through teams that will make them pay fo that impatience

I think their game last Friday hosting McComb is still up on Facebook . Go watch the second half of that game. Laurel has no defense and is soft. Them short dawgs on the McComb lines was fighting them off. They don’t have a running game. I thought they had the same QB from last season. That QB now looks like he’s pulling light poles trying to get to the edge. The one last year could fly. Like you say though it could be anybody. I look for someone in our district to start getting better and better now that it counts. Things are starting to play out very different from what I expected from all these non region games. I think they are going to be revealed as foos gold on both sides of the won loss column. Let’s see.

Sounds a lot like the gameplan they had for us the week before too. Without phantom calls from the refs they would have been scoreless. Not that we deserved to win.

So they just took the night off ? Sandbagging for the region ? I saw George County defense the week before they stopped us but who hasn't . I wasn't impressed and they didn't improve that much in one week if a team can pass any at all they will wax them. Hattiesburg can't pass anymore ? Ya'll should have had the size advantage on the line of scrimmage too. You telling me ya'll played as good in an OT game in Lucedale as you did against Oak Grove and Laurel ?

Wayne County- Whew!!! I’ve been ostracized,criticized, plagiarized, politicized , fried died laid to the side and nailed to the cross for my strong take on the state of things. Somebody told me that everything is right there to be had because region is starting and I was bringing pressure. It’s true the not so tough region is starting Friday. I can’t comment what may happen but that corner is getting smaller and smaller. I will be first in line to put them up on my shoulders if things turn around. Pressure ? Wayne County is pressure . We thrived when the pressure is on. Like a great coach once said Pressure is a privilege not a curse. I’m sure some are angry. Won’t be the first time. We will still be friends. I don’t take back anything. I feel like some are taking lightly what we look like. Not Coach Hankins. The man is grieving and grinding over this it’s apparent. The man is an all star but between the lines it’s not carrying over. I honestly don’t get it. Ok enough of that. Hattiesburg . You shouldn’t have to last minute George County. Sorry. No way the team that pummeled Laurel should have fell off that much. That doesn’t bode well for the heavyweights you are going against down the road. West Jones has to come to y’all so there’s that at least. More on this one down the road Is anyone in 5A worth a dam ? Somebody tell me. West Point had a big win last Friday they could be coming on. Picayune going to Pascagoula . I would like to go to this one. I might. Picayune will be down ten points getting off the bus. The first TD they make will be called back. Guaranteed. Sims usually has one good game per season in him. They haven’t seen the wing in a while so that doesn’t bode well. I’ve watched a little of Ocean Springs. There is a raw toughness to the way they play compared to before. Battle tested. Stay tuned. I kind of made fun of Stockstill for leaving a championship team in Scott Central and going to sad Pass. There is no doubt this cat is a rising star after what he’s done there in a short time. I underestimated this guy. I was wrong . Howard-Cosell I extended the invitation to have input every week. You have slinked away. I think I understand why. It’s still open. Maybe later. I think I can come up with enough every week. I’m getting my groove back.

He’s improving every week. You can tell Corey is bringing him along slowly. He’s hitting some throws now where earlier he was just throwing it in the general direction of the receiver. I’ve have to get out and see picayune but I can say this. This West Jones team is better than last season. They haven’t been hit n the mouth yet but I think they will respond in kind. I don’t know about the north but 6A South playoffs are going to be fantastic.
