At first they gave it up and didn’t want nothing to do with it now they see the big crowds and party we put on down here in the south so they want a piece of the pie again. If Wayne County doesn’t make it I ain’t making that drive to nowhere again. The whole town was shut down when we played there and you need the Hubble telescope to see the field even from the so called good seats. Forget about seeing anything at the goal lines. Enjoy having only a few hundred people at the games again MHSAA. Nice job.

I hate to pat myself on the back but maybe I will. This game was over before halftime with as much the Brandon defense stayed on the field. Brandon scores beyond the first one were the result of prevent defense and Picayune letting them burn clock. Not as close as score indicates. Picayune is the best team in the state at managing clock.

I am still high on Coach Hankins. We didn’t even have sixty players on the varsity when he he got here. It’s close to a hundred now. I don’t think I or really anyone else knew how far we had fallen off. When he says give him more time I have to take him at his word because I think he is honest. When I see the way he was truly hurting for our kids last night away from all the lights and noise. Most of these starters had never practiced or played as starters before a few weeks ago. Oak Grove had experienced guys across the board at the highest level and it showed. It may be a few weeks before we can even tell what we have. I’m glad we have plenty of time before the region starts. Now I’m curious. Why of all questions you could have asked, you asked this one ?

I can’t pile on . They are probably beating themselves up enough for everyone I will say this. The way our region is going’s to play out just got a lot murkier. Oak Grove is a handful.

I think you hit the nail on the head D. They will come in and play. Hard too. But I don’t like feeling like it won’t be enough. This ain’t no rebuild anymore. Anybody who keeps up with the jr high schools knew this was the group that would start turning the corner. These ninth, tenth and eleventh graders. They have always played with a chip on the shoulder. I maybe coming off as angry, IDK . Could be but I expected more. I think disappointment describes it better. That’s why I came in smoking.. It was just a scrimmage. Maybe I’m wrong.

I'm going to be nice until this season plays out but I'm also not under any illusions. I hope for the best but I know now if he wasn't hired it would been Todd Lowery. Brelands application was culled before the ink was dry. Weak people are intimidated by alphas. They are also spiteful. I'm probably stirring a hornets nest with this but so be it.

In this heat ? I would probably have to pack an extra artery . I'm actually on the fence about going as i have a lot going on tomorrow. I have thought about this and I'm just going to lay it out there. The defensive line was supposed to be the strength of the team this year. Are they ? Harrison QB and RB bumped feet and the RB stumbled several times after getting the handoff and still got 8,9,10 yards or more, We didnt even have guys in the vicinity because they were tied up and pushed down the field. Harrison is no juggernaut. Not even close. The coming weeks will prove me right on that. They barely even had 35 kids dressed out. Were our coaches sandbagging ? It's possible but that excuse was used after Poplarville last year and the same problems carried into the season. Quit pissing down my back and tell me it's raining by saying the line needs to pass block. They don't half practice it because of trying to perfect running the ball. Thats the truth. Send the house tackle the runner and these dudes wont throw it enough to beat you . The book is out on how to do it. It's painfully obvious by now the philosophy is have two good drives per half and win with defense. What are you going to do when the defense don't hold ? Watch a train wreck. You have to score points in South MS football. WC's forte has always been that we may not have the most talent but we are going to play hard and scheme to your weakness and our strengths. Doesn't exist now. It's been almost twenty years since WC beat Oak Grove or for that matter won a game we shouldn't have. Won't happen this week either and from my point of view ever again until some major changes are made. Like it or not we have been passed up as having a team that could be counted on as a title threat year in and year out.

I’m purposely avoiding participating in this topic for a couple days at least. I have to get the delivery right.

what’s up Tib. I would like to see y’all play Brandon. They did a number on WP last night. They don’t know what is coming. With only five days to get ready ? Yall have a lot of guys with big yards coming back. Like some of them movies where the hero gets thrown into a different reality ready to fight , I think this guy was flung in here in here from Facebook in that mode. He seems calmed down now. I hope he can come into the fold. We will see.

It was just a scrimmage but Harrison Central beat Wayne County 14-13 WC looked horrible getting destroyed at the line of scrimmage on both sides. We play with no edge or swagger. Letting HC , an after thought in football, come into our stadium and do that is not a good sign. Oak Grove next week will be ugly I’m afraid.

Oh I’m no warrior of any kind and I don’t answer questions you can look up for yourself. See I tried to be nice and lead you down a good road but here’s the truth. The coach that won that title high tailed it to another state far away. It don’t matter what talent you got the coach you have now ain’t cutting it and won’t get near another trophy. Prove me wrong and leave the gon be at the door.

Bro gonbei is a city in Japan that if you visit nobody on here is going to give you any props over. Not talking trash but I think if you will be honest with yourself you know inside why Pearl is not a threat anymore. Man I thought this game was in Picayune . I was going to watch us on Thursday and shoot over y’all’s way the next night.

I hope they bring some with them to Oak Grove . We can put some in the cornbread I’m planning on baking in the stands before halftime. This is the right answer

I feel like I’m missing something in this that I would find interesting but have no idea what it is I was indicting this milk toast region schedule since it first came out but as with all that requires passion there is another side to that coin. Something one of West Points proudest , I know you have gotten really close to some of them over the years, pointed out to me .How many great region gamers were there usually? One, two at the most outside a couple of the bigger classes. This will let the better teams in the state schedule a couple more against each other. There are still enough region games to decide it fairly, I think. I’m going to give it a chance but could turn against with quickness, lol.

East side bleachers with that laser sun in our faces for one hour or more. I told WABO earlier that I was bring a iron skillet of corn meal mash and set it in the seats. The cornbread should be ready before halftime.

Sounds like we are going with a whole new offensive line

While it probably stinks for George County as a team I can’t really blame anyone for trying to better themselves if they have the chance. As long as no rules are being broken. My opinion is you just have to let itto play out. People usually gets what’s coming to them good or bad. MSHAA has rules on the books for kid’s moving so as long as they are enforced properly it’s fair to everyone. You just can’t let a situation like what Petal was doing to Poplarville become commonplace . The MHSAA stepped in and got it right so the system worked. I would have like to have seen him running around around South MS this fall but also there are plenty more to see that want to play for their community. .

Is he just going back home or did he come up through the George district?

Our new QB is going to get a helluva welcome to varsity football in the pine belt in about four fridays. OG coaches will be smart enough to put the game on him somehow but ultimately it will be on our defenses back. From a winning point of view I’m glad Coach didn’t turn in Laurel as the finale. Why play them and then most likely again in a couple of weeks. Get a look at them against you and watch it the next several weeks with a rematch in mind.

I'm not up on this new format as I should be. Did they add a playoff game like the old 4A format ?

That region ground the top teams down to a nub down the stretch.

I can see that. After all , Vancleave is in the lower classification now.

I’m not thrilled about no Hattiesburg or West Jones in our region anymore but maybe WC needs to be in purgatory for a little time. Add Hattiesburg as non region next season. This is the third year Coach Hankins has had with these kids. He has played most of them from freshman and they have took some lumps. They will live or die by scorching ability. Defensive line is going to be nasty. The table is set if we are going to ever do it. Lot of cream puff on the menu.
