I’m not going to take offense at what you said chains because I think at the end of the day we both want the same thing but it’s obvious appeasement and waiting is not working. It’s not right for Coach Hankins to bear the brunt of the parents and community while he runs and hides from the mess he made. GCwildcat knows too. The stuff he did on the way out at NEJ was purely vindictive and meant t cause damage. Whatever he’s said or gave you the impression of saying is surely what he thought you wanted to hear. There is a reason he’s never won nowhere he ever was and left whatever he had a hand in in shambles. It’s happening now. If he wants to pick up trash and write students up for being tardy he should stick to that and stay out of whatever system a coach is going to run. This isn’t hear say I talked two coaches that applied last time. Both have a championship. One runs some kind of wing stated he pulled his name out of the hat after he talked to him .The other coached with Marcus and was never called. I hope it does get turned around but I’m going to ask you this. Are you happy with having to battle it out for the playoffs with the likes of East Central ? Vancleave ? How about Stone County ? Gautier, lol. Really ? Getting the hell pounded out of our kids every time they play someone decent. The last two losses were to bad teams. The players are there to be better. He wasn't even here when Coach Mangum was hired in '11. Coach Chapman basically got Shetland hired after Mangum but he told him he had to leave too when he didnt work out so I have no qualms about his intent at that time. Then covid hit and lo and behold I see this loser out there limiting Kevin on how close the kids could get to each other at football practice. It made me nauseated. I don't know what pool of slime he crawled out from but the first time I seen him was picking up trash after a game for Coach Mangum. I stopped and bumped my brother on the arm and said if that isn't run off he will destroy the football program here. If he even touches a practice football bury it and salt the earth it's under. He's never been even remotely successful at it . Blames everyone else when he isn't. He's just never had control to force his spiteful moves on anyone until the last few years. I've tried to go against my gut with him bypassing candidates from Boyles tree but like every other time in my life my gut was right way back when I saw him picking up garbage. Bottom line he has to be gotten away from the athletics at Wayne County and I don't see how that is possible with Coaches having to answer to him . He just hired a Basketball coach that is 107 years old and was with him at NEJ. He won't hire anyone that might offer a different opinion than him. I don't think the Super is the problem either but he was dam sure told how this was going to turn out when he was given say so over this last hire. He has to be kicking himself now for listening to the wrong person.

I didn't know he had went to Jones County. I knew he didn't stay in the WC school system. He's the only one I knew of recent times that I would trust to make a good decision, Hire him as a consultant , let him volunteer , I don't really care . Someone has to step up and get their arms around this thing. It doesn't surprise me he got away from this loser. He was probably forced out because old Beat Four won't let anyone in his circle who is a threat to his butt kissing way of doing things. People like him flourish in this era of appointed Supts because they come in blind about the workings and he attaches his lips to their hind parts. He has dam sure destroyed our football legacy at this point. It is a total rebuild now and if he is there for a new hire he will backstab and work against him at every point. I can't stand the sight of him anymore which is fleeting because he runs away at the sight of anyone who may call him out. I'm still baffled about how anyone could expect him to know what it would take to win in at HS football. All he ever did was be a failure at it.

I just hope everyone can direct the blame at the guy who’s really behind this downfall. Why would the guy doing the selection when asked about how it was going say we are not going to talk about the search then run and hide in his office ? Well that’s what you do when you know nobody is going to support what you are doing in requiring the new coach would run the wing t. Now why would he do that ? Because when he was a coach he was made fun of and told how pathetic his teams looked. We been saying it for years and he was going to show us. Well he showed us he really did. Coach Hankins is nothing now than he has ever been. A coach in the lower classifications with outstanding character. I don’t think he really knew what he was walking into. If the same person is over the hiring process again it will be the same incompetence and spiteful process as before. He couldn’t get a job as a coach so Coach Mangum let him come pick up garbage around the sidelines after games. Now he’s saying who the coach will be. Coach Cooley needs to step in from the position he is in now and take charge over the whole process.

Things have kind of happened since the start of the season that have forced my thoughts and energies elsewhere so I freely admit my being up to date on info is lacking. So much so I have only seen one game and that was week one. I’m starting to get the itch to be somewhere on Friday night as the sun starts going down earlier though. I will get some 7A worked in during the coming weeks. I was going to have this as a list of the downtrodden but changed my mind. While some of that will be included what I settled on was just some weekly points that could be discussed or just perused. This list only includes points from the South regions . I might include the North down the road but to include the street gossip I like to work in will impossible without getting around the area. I hate traveling anywhere north of I20 so that’s that. Wayne County . You can pin the War Eagles at number on this list until I see fit to take it down.This team is starting to look like a certain coaches teams were at Northeast Jones (those that know. Know. My first shot across the bow) The whole operation is a shell of it’s former self, and frankly the offense is boring . They can’t score points. Battling in a scoreless game with the likes of a short handed George County team ? GTFOOH. This crap is not up to standard and we supporters deserve some answers. The trail of tears. Starting in Waynesboro get on Highway 63 into Leakesville then catch 57 and head south to Pascagoula all along this route you can look right and left seeing no football accomplishments in fairly recent times. Why? Laurel as bad as they are defensively will probably slash through region four easily because they can pass the ball a little . Gautier may give them a little trouble but I doubt it. That makes me sad With the way, it is shaping up in 5A region three whoever gets home-field advantage will probably play for the title . Pencil in Brookhaven if they win that district . A sad bunch 5A is state wide instead of playing to their potential the past contenders have fell off a cliff competitively speaking . I truly don’t have any favorites. I looked forward to a beefed up non region schedule because of less district contests. The drawback to it is some coaches have not put their best effort out there. Instead is just a bunch of stuff they are trying out and would never unveil in a game that really mattered. It’s resulted in a lot of “meh”. With the shape that our season is in right now it pains me to admit this. This West Jones front on both sides is championship level. They have the players but going all the way takes coaching at some point. Is it there ? So far they have cruised but there is coming a time during in a game when everyone will be looking to him to right the ship. I’ve known Corey since before he was making loops at Sonic. He’s never been in that position. We will see.

I mean who going to stop them in our region at this point ? They will get their swagger back and be crowing loud after a bite or two of the cream puffs waiting on them. That good schedule thing is a double edged sword . It does sharpen a good unit but teams like ours should have never been on the field with West or Oak Grove. I think it broke their psyche some. They are playing a step slow and waiting for something bad to happen now. It affected them negatively. For the record man West Jones is definitely a serious contender for the title. They are not getting any injuries either. But on the other hand their coach is the wild card. He inherited a stacked deck. At some point he is going to have to pull his weight. We all will get a dress rehearsal in a few weeks in Hattiesburg. Vance will have some dirty tricks and shenanigans ready . Not throwing shade on anything he has done so far. I know Corey he is a Wayne County guy but you ain’t proved it until you’ve done it.

West has the best combination of offensive and defensive lines I have seen so far. Their defense was good last season and is better now. I think their offense is much improved too. A showdown is looming with the Maroon Tide …Again

Younwareagle, where in the hell have you been all this time ? I’m glad ûyou went to the game and saw. Don’t stray to far again. We are probably going to need to band together sometime in the near future. As far as this subject there’s some thoughts in this thread that absolutely hit the nail on the head. Frankly I’m concerned. Our kids play with no fire or edge. We were never in the game against Oak Grove or WJ. I’ve agreed to put away the flamethrower for now and will keep my word. If it gets to the point of not mattering sometime this season I’ve got a lot to say. I’ve been bouncing around content for the sad seven for the last couple of weeks but something else arose that needs all my focus and attention right now. I am aiming to have something out next week if I can get time to put thought into it. I appreciate everyone speaking their mind in this thread. There is some real good points here that needed to be brought to light

I have settled on this format. I going to call it Slicks Sad Seven.. Let someone else come up with who’s at the top this season. It was the sad ten but seven is enough for the miserable to cycle through each week. I’m writing some of it up now and will try to have it up next week sometime.

So Brookhaven could squeak in as region champ after a three way tie breaker and have three home games. This realignment is shaping up for just that to happen.

Who’s going to have the default home field this season ? As a matter of fact is it even going to work the same with only a few region games now ?

I’m bouncing some thoughts around. At this point most everyone on here knows who the top dogs are. My focus like you say will be on the entertainment side of it. It will be a surprise.

Nobody’s saying anything about any of these teams.Some of them are going to be in the playoffs for the first time in a long time. I heard Brookhaven was still bad the other night, Everyone knows what it’s like playing there in the playoffs. If they could get a couple of home games they could slip in. Florence could beat anyone in our region at home. Who knows what kind nefarious crap Natchez could bring. I know nothing of the others. Regardless I think the playoffs are going to competitive from the beginning . What about the other members of this region.

Awfully funny I can see the laces spinning from the top of the lower deck in Hattiesburg. Anyone that says to play the state finals in a high school stadium is not the sharpest tool in the shed and probably hasn’t seen any of the outside world beyond Puckett.
