Florence had a really good QB last season and if I remember correctly he was a sophomore. The also had a good RB, I know that’s far from an entire team but they really stuck out to me. They have scored a lot of points. It seems Laurel’s defense has given up a few I know the did against Petal. So it could be closer than many think.

Tonight WC came up short on their first road trip of the year. I think we have one of the best receivers in the state in #12 Jalen Jones and a couple of explosive backs that are a little undersized but run bigger than they are. You are however correct in your assessment of or guys up front on both sides of the ball. I remember when Wayne County went through consolidation a pretty good number of students went to the Academy. Now they are so many people that Home School that’s another option. With the storied history between the two schools I am sure Simpson Academy is about to see an increase in enrollment.

It’s ashamed what this world has come to. Some of my fondest memories as a kid granted it was the early 70’s but I would be dropped of at the gate and picked up at the gate. I usually couldn’t tell mom or dad what the high school score was but the game of cup ball we had at the back of the end zone was always great. kids today can’t be kids parents are always have to keep them close. A few bad apples has ruined what is a great time for many.

Wayne County used to schedule them regularly and in our championship years we beat them regularly. Playing 6A schools will prepare you for the playoffs if you stay healthy

At this point WC doesn’t have the caliber players Boyles did that’s what people are missing. It takes a special coach to get the kids to play above their ability and that’s what’s happening. Someone from QG asked on here yesterday who’s the standout players for WC. I told them the truth there’s nobody that’s going to jump off the page at you, but they play as a unit pretty damn good.

I said it after last night’s game I don’t think we will face a more talented team than OG. I know we’re in a loaded region but I feel good about our chances. That’s not saying anything bad about HHS, LHS,WJ or anyone else in our region. But I bet if you would have asked the OG faithful in warmups they would have expected a pretty easy game. These WC kids and the coaches had a heck of a game plan. A couple of key injuries and the turnover bug turned the game. OG did what good teams do they took advantage of the mistakes.

USM has a good player coming in. The thing I was impressed with is how hard your receivers were to get on the ground lol. Those kids for for every inch they could possibly get. I know you guys aren’t happy with the start. But you can learn a lot from your guys in these games. You know you’re never out of one because there’s no quit in the players. I feel like there were two good teams on the field tonight. One still going through a transition but a lot closer than people think

I thought that was a missed call I thought 23 laid out to get in front of him. Now granted I was a long ways away and filming the game. But I thought that WC got it back in the second half when they called the OG runner down then the next play they hit a long pass on what I thought was the only busted coverage of the night. Dub who is #1 for you guys and what grade is he in?

You guys are loaded with athletes and the ball did bounce y’all’s way down the stretch. Our kids were fighting for extra yards. It looked like a complete mismatch in warmups lol. But you can’t measure heart and coaching. I don’t think we face another team anywhere close to as talented as OG. Congratulations and we don’t do moral victories but I’m proud of our kids and we’re going to make some noise.

WC is still a young team also still a team in transition. This is the second year for a pretty much revamped coaching staff not just one or two coaches. The kids are buying in really well we still have kids walking the halls that we need playing. We will be a multiple formation team on offense I think Slick calls it the Low T lol. I’m being honest when I say you really can’t focus on one player, we don’t have that jump of the page kid that’s just going to make you say wow! We are led at QB by the head coach’s son and he’s clearly the leader on the field.

Wow really I wasn’t aware you guys didn’t have spring game, no 7 on 7 or Jamboree. All those things are huge to the development of your team. I’m in no way making lite of OG because they are always very talented. Sometimes you just need to hit someone else and get use to the speed of the game.

I get WC made the wrong hire when Coach Mangum left and it really hurt the program. But I think they have a good coach now and he’s in year two of building the program back up. Last week against a really good Quitman team and a longtime rivalry game WC had multiple penalties and still managed to put up 35 points and get the win. However OG is not Quitman, so WC will have to be at the top of their game or it could get ugly. That being said if OG plays like last week they will be upset.
