I was looking for this to be a close game. But you’re right since the tragedy that took the young man’s life this team hasn’t been the same. They better play next week because Laurel is playing their best ball now.

Lol no I actually think it’s going to be a better game than what people think. WJ is good on defense but their offense is not as good as last year’s. They have a kid that’s not a QB playing QB he’s a pretty good athlete.

You are absolutely correct with your statement. He is without question the best QB in 5A south maybe 5A statewide. A lot of people know nothing about him, like I said he can put up video game stats. This game may be closer than a lot of people think. WJ has a definite advantage in coaching in this one.

They will throw it that much for sure. The QB is a big strong kid very athletic he’s committed to Ole Miss Or State one to play baseball. The closest thing to WJ defense that he’s see will be Picayune they’re pretty good but I believe WJ has more speed on that side of the ball.

So you’re telling me there’s a chance lol??? I’ll say Picayune big in this one. All the things you’ve said are absolutely correct. But I just don’t see Hattiesburg bouncing back after the beating Laurel gave them. If they were more experienced maybe but they are young I believe they along with WC will be front runners next season in region 3 5A

Man there’s a lot of youth being served in 5A south

That QB throws the ball from all arm angles. I watched them earlier in the season against Pascagoula he was running for his life and like you said he put the ball on them. They caught it that night

I have to go Picayune here Hattiesburg’s youth will serve them well in the future they are going to be very good. But not against Picayune Friday

WJ better be careful with this one. The WJ defense is really good but so is the Guatier offense. Their QB can put up video game numbers lol. On the other hand their defense is not that impressive. I know the WJ QB is not a natural QB and against us he struggled at times. I’ll go with WJ and their coaching staff putting in a good game plan.

Didn’t GC lose their starting QB maybe against Picayune? They have a very good running back that reminds me of Christian McCaffery. But Laurel may be hitting their stride at the right time. They can’t go into this game coming off of that blowout with the big head. This may be the best of the playoff games this week in south 5A

Ole Brook is a good team top to bottom. They have some good skilled players, but man their size is unreal and they are physical.

With the Freshman group moving up and the best group of eight graders coming up since probably the 2015 team with Benito Jones and company. This could be potentially another run like Marcus Boyles had.

They lost three games on the field this season by a total of nine points. They lost them all after their best offensive weapon went down with a broken foot at Natchez. That’s a part of football for sure but they were never able to fill the void he left.

Just a few thoughts on what I call a successful season. Sure we didn’t make the playoffs but in all honesty we were not a playoff team. We made the right hire and he had to weed out a few bad apples but the future is bright. Our numbers were down this year we had several kids going both ways and that’s very unusual at WC. But going into the spring the kids know what to expect from coach Hankin and the know what he expects from them. WC has not gone away we will be back next season as strong as ever. Good luck to all teams as you chase that gold ball.

Laurel played West a very close game. Hattiesburg can’t afford a let down after a big win. Two good teams and you never know how these games will go.

The first game is West Jones at Wayne County on Thursday night

The only sure thing is Brookhaven over South Jones. The other two are rivalries you never know about Hattiesburg/Laurel. With WJ @ WC both teams have key injuries so it hard to pick that one too. WC will be honoring Marcus Boyles before the game so should be a good atmosphere.

The good news is WC has plenty of both size and skill on the way. I also think Coach Hankin reminds me a lot of Scott at WJ. He gets the most out of the players he has. I’ve seen in past years where WJ didn’t look like they should be on the same field with WC lol but they were competitive and won several of those games. I believe the future is definitely bright at WC. When Boyd went down it definitely hurt us he was our most dynamic player. But we’re not out of the hunt yet and many people didn’t think that we would be here going into the last week of the regular season.
