Unranked A&M took 2 of 3 at #13 LSU this weekend. That wasn't what anyone expected.

MSU absolutely demolished Georgia today. I agree, road series are never easy in the SEC and especially against top 20 ranked teams. Had this series been in Starkville, I figure MSU would have taken 2 of 3. I'm curious where UT is ranked in the new poll, they certainly have an argument for being #1. That series in Oxford is pretty huge when it comes to national seeding at the end of the season... assuming one of those two teams doesn't go through a big slump during the regular season which is entirely possible.

The last three posts are spot on. Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. Baseball fans are definitely the most fickle, getting worked up about a loss here and there. Having a great regular season definitely helps your path in the tourney, but being hot in June is what really matters. OM played poorly yesterday, but overall managed a road series win in the SEC which is never easy. I'm glad OM gets to host UT next weekend, it can be argued UT should be the #1 team in the country right now... and IF they sweep South Carolina tomorrow, they may well be #1 going into next weekend. MSU has shown signs of being pretty good, and signs of folding like a cheap tent. There is talent there and plenty of time to put it together by the time it really matters.

And the hips don't lie. Kidding aside, I don't follow WBB near enough to have an opinion on who should have won the award.

Pretty rough day for our teams. Georgia beat MSU 11-0. Auburn is up on OM 9-1 in the 6th and still batting. Both Mississippi teams are on the road, but still... dang, bad day.

On the ladies' BB front, OM lost in the first round. I was hoping they would win a game or two, but still a great building year for Coach Yo and those players. I think it had been 15 years since OM Lady Rebs had made an NCAA Tourney appearance. South Carolina ladies, good gosh they look far and away better than the rest of the field.

83, good call on Golden. It's announced he's Florida's new coach.

OM beats Auburn 13-6 to start SEC play 1-0.

Howland was fired today, no surprise there.
-
It's official, Kermit is back at OM next year.

Ha, I was coming to post basically the same. #1 is the kiss of death for OM, what a crappy performance tonight. 1 run on 3 hits against SLU? 3 errors and gave up 5 runs?
-
VERY VERY slim chance of it happening, but what IF: MSU fires Howland and hires Andy Kennedy while OM fires Davis and hires Rick Stansbury. How weird would that be?

I saw a tweet shared that MSU pitcher Stone Simmons is out for the year also. Geesh, tough breaks for MSU this year. I hope Simmons and Sims recover well.

Obviously D1's poll is the most accurate! Kidding aside, I'm not sold this OM team is THAT good... but I guess OM has as strong of a resume as anyone else right now. The bats are expected to cool down some when OM starts facing SEC pitching. Even still, I think this team will hit well. Pitching is much more average than past years' teams. That's a valid concern, we'll see how they progress as the season goes. I'm mainly concerned about the Defense. Costly errors will lose some games for this team unless the D improves. You can overcome average pitching with good hitting and strong defense behind the pitching. If the pitching AND defense remain average, the SEC schedule will know OM out of the top 10.

I thought so also. I'm sure most UF fans thought so when he was hired.
-
White's seat was warm at UF, he hasn't lived up to UF's expectations.

UGA is off the board, they hired Mike White from Florida. Florida is now on the board.

Nice job by MSU getting the sweep this weekend. This may be the confidence boost that team needs heading into SEC play. The 1 loss to Princeton by OM today will hurt the RPI some, but probably still #2 in the rankings. Most OM fans I know are like me... very happy with the start but not getting too excited because we've seen how this movie typically ends. Both teams have the talent to make some noise, we'll see how the season goes.

OM and MSU both have double headers tomorrow, postponed from today.

IMO, we're not near ready to go all electric... especially in rural areas. Hybrid tech has gotten much better, that's the first step for now. I highly disagree with states (like MS) adding a $75 extra tag fee for owning a hybrid.

OM beat Oral Roberts 16-2 today. This last weekend before SEC play looks like the football SEC schedule the week before rivalry weekend. Pretty weak schedule across the board.

MSU beats USC 73-51 to advance.

OM run rules Alcorn State 16-1 in 7 innings tonight. Many of OM's position players were replaced after the third inning, still put up 7 runs in the 4th inning. ASU gave many gifts by walks/HBPs early. Once they started throwing the ball over the plate, OM crushed the ball.

One could argue OM hasn't been playing for most of the season.
