Notre Dame picks up game 1 at Tennessee.
-
Oklahoma picked up game 1 at Virginia Tech.
-
The depth of USM's pitching staff is definitely a plus for USM. IMO, OM only wins this series IF they win in 2 games. IF it goes to game 3, I'd bet good money on USM winning the series. I like USM's chances of winning the series, but OM sure has been pretty dang good on the road all year. It should be a fun super regional.
-
Should be lots of good games from these match ups. Oklahoma is a team to watch out for, they seem to be very hot at the right time. Also, I'm with 83... I think 2 SEC teams make it to Omaha.
-
Notre Dame at Tennessee super is set. Texas at East Carolina super is set. Louisville at Texas A&M super is set. Oklahoma at Virginia Tech super is set. Auburn at Oregon State super is set. Ole Miss at USM super is set. North Carolina is in a super. They either travel to Oklahoma State or host Arkansas. Arkansas is leading 5-3 in the 8th.

The offense will be the story today, especially Elko. The 3 game series was very impressive by the Ole Miss bullpen that has struggled a lot this year. 1 unearned run and 0 earned runs this regional. Hattiesburg should be a fun series between Ole Miss and USM. I'll head down early Friday if I can make it off work early.

USM eliminates LSU, they'll host OM/Arizona next weekend. Oregon State eliminates Vandy, they'll host Auburn next weekend.

Notre Dame at Tennessee super is set. Texas at East Carolina super is set. Louisville at Texas A&M super is set. Virginia Tech is hosting a super. TBD vs Florida/Oklahoma. Auburn is playing a super. Either at Oregon State or hosting Vandy. That has 3 SEC teams in supers so far with 5 other teams still alive.
-
Yep. All five SEC West teams are 2-0 currently in their regionals. Tennessee is also 2-0. Florida is still alive with 1 loss. They're tied with Oklahoma 2-2 in the 7th currently. IF they win, they'll advance IF they beat Oklahoma again tomorrow. Georgia is the only SEC team eliminated so far. They did pick up a win in the regional, so zero SEC teams went 0-2 this year in a regional. That's a strong showing by the conference so far. I'm impressed with the play of OM the past 2 days, especially today. For OM to have any real chance to win a regional, they pretty much HAD to win the first 2. Diamond is typically pretty good 1 time though the lineup, then he's typically hit hard. An early exit from the SEC tourney turned out to be a blessing since it allowed rest for arms. I expect to see the bullpen in the 4th inning tomorrow, if not the 3rd inning.

LSU won 14-11. Pretty good game to follow, even though I'd rather LSU have lost.
-
LSU is only down 11-10 in the bottom of the 8th now, interesting game.
-
11-4 Kennesaw State in the 5th inning now.
-
The potential USM vs LSU tomorrow seemed to be the big topic on the radio driving home today. It's only the 3rd inning, but Kennesaw State leads LSU 5-2 right now.
-
The Miami regional games have been moved to start tomorrow morning. I'm still not sold any games get played tomorrow, 1 MAYBE. We all knew this Tuesday, why not move the first two games to be played today? There's a decent chance this regional won't finish until Tuesday, the Hattiesburg regional winner has to like that.

2004 Ole Miss as a Regional host. A buddy of mine and I planned to head to Oxford Saturday to watch the games that day. We left around 10am and got to Oxford around noon. By the time we got there, Ole Miss had lost Friday night and again Saturday morning to be eliminated. We ended up having a fun time since we didn't care who won from then out. We cut up a lot in left field with quite a few Tulane fans and a handful of Western Kentucky fans. There may have been a Washington fan or two, but I don't recall any... LONG trip for them.

Very true, teams like MSU and OM make money on baseball... not many do that. I have little doubt that plays into selections. I also thought it was interesting that 2 of the final 4 (I'd wager final 2 had NC State been allowed to play game 3 vs Vandy) from last year didn't make the tourney at all this year.
-
RPI: NC State 32 Ole Miss 39 Rutgers 42 Bama 51 Supposedly the selections rely heavily on RPI due to there are so many games and so many teams, they can't possibly follow all the teams. This would explain OM over Rutgers/Bama... I have no idea why OM got in over NC State. IMO, NC State deserved a bid over OM... and probably Bama also considering the head to head sweep and records (with the SECT) were pretty equal. I figure there are some hoping for OM and LSU to win regionals so LSU hosts OM and they can play up the storyline of Bianco being an LSU native/turned down by LSU for the opening last year and this is his revenge tour.
-
It looks like (as expected) the committee is looking hard at the RPI. Arkansas was 42 in the RPI and not hosting, on the surface it looks like Arkansas should have definitely hosted looking at their SEC and overall record. Auburn (with a worse SEC record and worse overall record) is hosting a regional... RPI of 15. These regional fields are typically filled as much as possibly by "local" teams, LSU as a 2 seed in Hattiesburg makes sense. I'm guessing Arkansas ends up at the Texas or Oklahoma State regional. IF Ole Miss gets a bid, I could possibly see them in Hattiesburg while LSU goes to Georgia Southern. Georgia or Georgia Tech likely lands in the Georgia Southern regional. I lean towards Ole Miss goes to the Louisville regional IF they go anywhere... but lean mostly Ole Miss is done this year.
-
NS is definitely out for USM now... I think them hosting is about 60-40. USM dropped to #20 in RPI, which is somewhat unfair since they hosted the CUSAT and the losses hurt them more than normal conference tourney losses count. UTSA winning the CUSAT tomorrow possibly helps USM's hosting bid just enough to secure it. I agree USM SHOULD host, but we'll see. I put OM at about 35-65 to get in the NCAAT now.
-
Last projection I saw had Bama last 4 in and Ole Miss first 4 out. IF Kentucky beat UT tonight, I'd wager they get in... which may push Bama out. UTSA beat USM tonight, which may have put them in. UTSA is in the championship tomorrow, which definitely puts them in with a win. I'm strongly leaning OM doesn't get an NCAAT bid. It was already borderline and too many other teams have worked themselves into the bubble discussion/auto bids.
-
I saw where Kendall Rogers tweeted that, Rogers is typically on top of NCAA baseball news so it's pretty believable.
-
Kentucky is climbing in the RPI, I wager they need one more SECT win to get in the NCAAT over Ole Miss. Bama has moved ahead of OM in RPI, another win tonight and they're almost definitely in the NCAAT. The more times "bubble" teams like Bama/Kentucky win, the less likely OM gets in the NCAAT. UTSA upset USM today, that's another "bubble" team in the discussion.
-
USM is currently 7th in RPI, if they win the CUSA tourney I figure they get a well deserved NS.
-
Looking at the current RPI: OM 40 Bama 41 Kentucky 51 RPI certainly isn't the end all/be all, but it's a strong indicator when looking at "bubble teams." OM is obviously rooting for Bama and KY losses tomorrow.
-
No doubt. IF Bama loses tomorrow, it's probably close to 50/50 between OM/BAMA if only one of the 2 gets a bid. If Bama wins one more, they'll definitely get a bid above OM. Kentucky is another team to watch to move up in the bid department.
