Too little too late for OM also, but picked up a series win 8-1 over Mizzou tonight. After burning 4 arms last night, 2 arms picked up this win. We'll see if OM can get a sweep tomorrow to get barely back in the mix.

Same here as an OM fan. OM returned many hitters but lost a TON of great pitching from last year. I thought regional host if things went well or a 2 (maybe 3) seed in a regional if the pitching struggled. I wasn't expecting a national seed before the season, also didn't expect no tourney bid at all either.

Ole Miss won 7-5 but burned 4 arms in the win. A win is a win, but I'm not sure OM can pick up another win unless the bats just outscore Mizzou the next two games.

Who knows, but some believe McDonnell is unhappy at UL and will take the job even if Bianco is fired this year. Bianco lost a lot of "How dare Ole Miss fire him" after he flirted hard with the LSU opening last year. I'm not sure if I believe that, but it's not one of those crazy stories like "Tony Dungy spotted in Oxford, will be new head football coach!" deals. LIPO and we'll see what happens in the offseason. I won't get a call asking my opinion by anyone involved in the firing/hiring. Tonight's game isn't the best start by DeLucia. OM is up 3-2 in the middle of the second, but DeLucia is already at 71 pitches. I'm not sure he gets 3 complete tonight, 4 is stretching it. Yikes.

Kentucky is in the same ballpark as MSU/OM needing some wins to get in the discussion for a bid. Kentucky beat UT tonight, huge move by Kentucky to get in the discussion.

OM hosts Mizzou while MSU hosts Florida this weekend. Both teams need a series win (probably a sweep) to stay in the mix for a NCAAT bid. I figure MSU takes 2-3 while OM takes 1-3. OM is a weird team, better on the road than at home.

Yep, DeLucia and Smith have been studs. The rest... nicely put, not nearly as good for our teams.

MSU is getting on track with 14 wins, the RPI is certainly an issue but 4-2 will help a lot I figure, especially if MSU takes the series over Florida which is around #12 RPI. I'd wager MSU gets in with 14 SEC wins, assuming they win almost all midweek games going forward.

Yep, not much difference between these two struggling teams. 2-2 overall but MSU is 2-1 in SEC play vs OM and that's more helpful between the two teams trying to get an NCAAT bid. I'm not sold either team does enough to get an NCAAT bid, but I sure like MSU's chances more than OM's chances.

MSU won 7-6 in the 11th. MSU moves to 8-10 in SEC play, getting to 14 is in striking distance... going 6-6 can be done. OM moves to 6-12 in SEC play, I don't see this team finishing 8-4.

After tomorrow, OM/MSU will be a combined 14-22 in SEC play. How far back do we have to dig to find a worse start? I'd guess over 20 years, maybe 30 years.

State was better tonight in the bullpen. Tomorrow could be interesting, a lot of arms have been burned.

OM scored 3 in the 8th to cut it to 10-7. Probably too little too late, but at least it's interesting going into the 9th inning.

MSU scored 2, 4, and 3 runs against the OM bullpen in the 6th, 7th, and 8th inning... OM hasn't scored since the second inning.

Yeah, much has been said about OM starting pitching after "Friday", but the bullpen is as bad or worse. Brandon Johnson is probably the best out of the bullpen and he's given up quite a few runs lately. MSU scored 4 in the 7th to go ahead 7-4.

I thought the same, pretty sure I've never seen that stat either. This game may turn into a slugfest now though. MSU scored 2 against the OM bullpen in the 6th, 4-3 OM now. MSU has also moved to the bullpen for the bottom of the 6th, we'll see if OM can answer.

We can get into offense, pitching, errors on defense, etc. Truth is, both teams are again tied for last in the west this season. I always enjoy an OM win, but I don't put much stock into this win... no offense to MSU. I'd advise MSU fans to not put much stock into winning this series the next two days if it happens... both teams have issues being consistent.

4-2 final OM. DeLucia threw a complete game, first win in Oxford against MSU since 2015 and first SEC win for OM in Oxford this season. Nice win for OM, I wouldn't have bet on it and glad to be wrong.

I agree with all of that. I'll add, my opinion: Bianco would have survived this season even IF OM misses the NCAAT, but his openly flirting with the LSU job last offseason burned a lot of goodwill between Bianco and OM. IF OM makes the NCAAT, I don't see Bianco getting fired. I figure Carter will put out feelers to see who may be interested if OM loses in a regional to gauge interest in replacements... depending on who may be interested will make Carter's decision. IF OM makes a super, I really doubt any big name coach would be interested after firing Bianco.

If it was JUST the loss to SEMO, I wouldn't think anything of it. All season the pitching has been spotty and so has the defense making errors. Since conference play started, hitting has gone way down. There were always questions with this team, but it seems like the wheels came off during and after that sweep by UT. Huge series in Oxford for a midseason SEC series. MSU is trending up, OM is trending down. Both teams really need the series win to stay in the NCAAT hunt and a loss will create a bigger hill to climb to get a NCAAT bid. If OM misses the NCAAT, Carter is in a tough position. An outright firing of Bianco will leave a sour taste in mouths of potential replacements, that's fair considering what Bianco has done for OM for 20+ years.

USM is up to #6 in D1 baseball, OM and MSU are unranked.

UT beat Bama to improve to 14-1 in SEC play. 14 is pretty much the magic number to get a lock for NCAAT and UT is there halfway through SEC play, that's unreal.

83, I mentioned it early in the season I wasn't sold on this pitching at OM and we'll see what happens in SEC play. Here we are, the pitching is just stuggling.
