The SEC is now 1-3 in bowl games with Arkansas needing 3OTs to beat Kansas for the 1 SEC win.

Almost all (maybe all?) SEC teams are wearing the Mike sticker with the cowbell as the "I" for Mike Leach.

I was given tickets to that game and went, really great crowd that night. I met MHSWriter at the game briefly that night.

Eh, Kermit went to the tournament at MTSU with his own players so I'm not buying he made the tournament at OM "with AK's players." I have no idea why the Kermit experiment is so far off the rails at OM right now, but there's no argument that it's far off the rails. I really hope Kermit turns it around in conference play and is in Oxford for many years to come. I highly doubt it right now.

Southern Miss won their bowl game 38-24 over Rice today, congrats to the USM fans. Well done.

I haven't seen those comparisons but it's very silly. Arnett has had a hot name for DC at a larger program or a HC job the past couple of years... it was a matter of time before he became a HC. Was Matt Luke mentioned for any HC job before OM promoted him to HC? If so, I don't recall it.

I'd wager MANY players that aren't in the portal are getting contacted by third parties, it's really no different than how recruiting worked before during "dead periods" where coaches couldn't contact HS recruits but third parties definitely did... every school was guilty of that and I'm betting still are guilty of that.

More details before I'm rushing to judgement either way. For example: IF Freeze is contacting Will Rogers for the first time right after Leach's passing... yes, that's a douche move and he should be called out on it. IF it's players that have already been contacted by other coaches, it's part of the business of portal/NIL that almost everyone here was applauding... including Steve Robertson. MSU picked up two CBs in the portal this week, they aren't stopping recruiting (as they shouldn't) and neither will anyone else.

Any chance Muffins comes back as HC and retains Arnett as DC?

The ESPN tribute to Leach was very well done. If you haven't seen it, it ends with a reporting asking Leach about how he wanted to be remembered when people write the Mike Leach obit. "Well, that's their problem, they're the one writing the obituary. I mean, what do I care? I'm dead!"

I've always been a fan of Leach, I voiced my good opinions of him when he was at Texas Tech and WSU... my opinion didn't change when he took the MSU job. It appears to take a miracle for him to pull through, I sure hope it happens. Leach's teams have been always fun to watch, as have his interviews.

Strong rumors that Leach has passed, I really hope that's not true.

Keep in mind, this open transfer portal pretty much started with Tom Mars representing Ole Miss players leaving Ole Miss... and most MSU fans here cheered it on. I warned then, be careful what you wish for.

There aren't many Ole Miss fans left here (or MSU fans for that matter...) It's pretty obvious Longo wasted some talent at Ole Miss. The yards per game looked good, the points per game, average. Dawson Knox is example A, Knox had 0 TDs at Ole Miss yet he had 14 TDs his first 3 years in the NFL. With that said, it seems Longo has modified his offense since he went to North Carolina with more success. I somewhat lean he'll do a good job for Wisconsin IF they give him time. This is nothing like the offense Wisconsin has ever ran, which means they don't have the current players to execute it. The portal may well fill those holes quickly? I'd like to see Longo do well, unless he's coaching against Ole Miss in a game... then I hope he fails miserably that day.

Oh, I agree on that. Why burn a bridge like that? At the same time, I'm not so sure about The Answer's comment "going to make it hard for him to find a new team"... I suspect many teams will offer him. He's talented and adds value on the field for sure.

Dillon Johnson is in the portal. He was very respectful of MSU and the fans with his announcement, he went off the top rope towards Coach Leach though.

True on 5th or 6th, OSU is going to get the 4th spot and should along with TCU likely stays top 4 and should. I would bet on Bama winning vs UT without Hooker, but that's still throwing out what happened in the regular season. IF Hooker was healthy, would UT be ranked ahead of Bama right now? IF that's the reason Bama is ranked ahead of UT, I can kind of buy it.

Georgia is steamrolling LSU 35-7 in the first half.

TCU should get in over 2 loss Bama, but we'll see. On that, why is Bama over Tennessee? Both have 2 losses and UT won head to head.

USCe is out of the top 4. I guess tOSU is in the top 4 now? IF TCU, Michigan, and UGA lose tomorrow... who's the top 4?
