I actually like these picks Dub and I'm kind of there with Columbia. I hope they can beat Louisville and I think they can. I really like the Winona pick for 3A. Don't know enough about 1A or 2A to make a pick there. It would be cool to see Heidelberg come away with a win in 2A.

Do you think Grenada will have too much of a hangover after knocking off South Panola? I certainly don't see them winning it, but I'm curious if they'll be able to keep the deficit in check.

You can call it interesting and even go as far as calling it an upset if you would like, but Russell knows how to get the most out of his players and knows how to do more with less. Beating the team who is playing for the state title should carry some weight to it. Just think if he had more to do more with.

I'm just curious to see how he attacks the portal and what kind of talent he can bring in. You're pretty much going to have to go all in with the portal to replace everything you are losing.

Which was a complete disaster last year. Somebody doing a free YouTube livestream would be 1000x better. Hopefully that will happen.

And I know I’m probably beating a dead horse here, but in 2013 we were down 35-21 to Oxford late in the 4th quarter. If we had stuck with our traditional under center run offense, we wouldn’t have been able to mount that comeback. We had something different in the tank that frigid cold night in Jackson that allowed us to make the necessary comeback to win the ballgame in regulation. Why did we abandon that? Are our coaches not smart enough to have their own mind and do what Russell Mitchell did? Do we need to bring him back home to teach our coaches what to do?

And I had free lodging lined up. Oh well.

I just hope that a valuable lesson was learned in that sometimes you can’t just stick with what’s worked. West Jones was a different type of animal and I guess we were probably shell shocked to an extent and I get that. The fact that we had no alternative offense to run is what concerns me.

(Re: Russell Mitchell in the 2011-2013 era). It worked back then, why not now?

When the things that you are doing aren’t working, you have to do something different. We never were able to do that. Not that it would have changed the outcome, but it would have made the game a little bit more competitive and interesting.
