Laurel unraveled. First time they went 3 and out they lost yards on a false start then bitched punt west jones takes over on laurel 13-14.

After west jones td laurel gets good kick return off a bad kick. Then 3 straight west jump offsides they end up first and goal from 6-7 with 20 something seconds. A run to 5 but laurel held then another play, timeout. Laurel throws pass falls incomplete should be 3 seconds on clock but clock runs officials call halftime. Laurel coaches going mad and they should. West jones 7 Laurel 0 halftime.

West jones and laurel no score end 1. laurrl threw pick 2nd play of game. West was running till inside laurel 30 then like 5 flags in 7 plays end up turning over on downs. Laurel then drives easily get 1st and goal from 6 turn over on downs on the 3. West has driven out to about the 30.

I think there are several schools that are in similar situations. How far they drop remains to be seen but they will find it very hard to have that format glory long term, just some flashes here and there.

I figure they will end up like moss point.

Sadly for meridian, with the city population decreasing at the rate it is, it’s going to be very difficult for them to get back to where they were 2004-2009. Middle to bottom of district will likely be their new normal

I had heard it was 2-0 H’burg.

Laurel had a scrimmage a couple weeks ago that was streamed online for a bit. The o line looked slow and like they skipped a few days of weight lifting. Qb threw up prayer almost every pass. And the defense suspect other than a very solid LB group. But it’s a scrimmage so…… Hearing now from some people that in their jamboree it was much of the same. So unless they are sandbagging a bit I expect west jones to work them over.

Word around is some laurel kids were amongst the Heidelberg fans acting like idiots.

Probably one group tired of the others constant trash talking. Both of them been full of themselves all offseason. i would not be surprised if something happens this week at laurel if west jones opens a can of whoop ass. Laurels team itself the last 4/5 years have been known to try to injure opponents with late hits and dirty hits when at home. WJ lost 6 starters to lower body injuries and one to broken collar bone, all by halftime. A couple years ago.

Laurel/Heidelberg berg had fight between the fans with people getting pepper sprayed. Seminary/East Marion had a fight between the teams.

So, how did WC look in jamboree? Remember a couple years ago at WC jamboree that Heidelberg coach got in a fight in the stands? Tonight there was fights at the Laurel h’burg jamboree. Pepper spray and all.

West Jones 13 Petal 7 petal tall and athletic all over the place on both sides of ball. Not sure what they will do this year but Boyle’s will have them in the mix next year for sure. Can already see his influence. West defense a bit “thin”. But didn’t look bad at all. Certainly not last years defense. The offense tho was unstoppable running. A few drives were all passes so it’s obvious they wanted to focus on that some in the scrimmage.

Can we post Jamboree scores or is there really no interest?

They will never get a stadium that big. They want the state to fund most of it, which won’t happen or every other 4 year situation will want a bunch of money as well. And JSU can’t raise the private funds. In a few years after the larger 32 schools split off from the ncaa to form an amateur league those who are left behind will see a sharp decrease in media money, and attendance. No one will need a stadium over 30,000 seats.

I know you can’t place much on scrimmages. But laurel live streamed theirs yesterday. They didn’t look all that. All off season kept hearing that Laurel returns most of the team. Very obvious graduation hit them hard on both lines, rb and qb. That online was ran around or through. They looked slow off the ball and like they missed a few days in the weight room. Qb just throws the ball up with a prayer that someone on his team catches it. The only bright spot was the LB’s.

I dunno bout that. I bet bass pro brings more money to the area than that ballpark ever has. And an all-purpose stadium that hosts multiple football events (neutral site juco state title game would be amazing I think. Take the juco magnolia bowl away from the MGCCC campus and put it up there would likely also draw larger crowds. Then the state high school title games) and outdoor events such as monster truck shoots which draw a ton of people even for their small events in places like the coast coliseum the larger events would be more lucrative. Relocate the state fair as well could be possible. Marching band competitions. Whether it’s on the ballpark land or somewhere nearby, something like this would be a great addition to the area. Sure you could say @theu could do all that at veterans memorial now” but no you can’t. Besides the fact no one really wants to use it. The location is an issue. No one wants to do anything inside Jackson city limits. And the farther from west Jackson the better.

All depends on if you funnel some money into the right pockets. I know people at JSU would raise issue with it. They would want it on campus. Which I can get that. Every college should desire on campus stadium. But they wanted it 55k seat horseshoe style at one point. And another they wanted domed stadium with retractable roof. And want the state to foot 90% of the bill. The state won’t give a university that much for a stadium, otherwise USM, MC, MS Valley, Alcorn, etc would all get massive upgrades to theirs.
