I was questioning if he has signed a contract for next year. Doesn't teaching contracts for the next school year usually come out this time of year?
-
Is that how it works in coaching, you can just get out of it for a promotion? I'm not familiar with teaching/coaching contracts.
-
I mean I guarantee that Philly pays a lot more than Tville. It makes you think that maybe he is trying to get out a contract or something
-
I wonder if the Philly job coming open affects this hiring process. Seeing that Jimbo Nowell is currently the DC at Philly
-
Ain’t nothing like the ole rumor mill… please do tell
-
I get it man. There is merit to being loyal, and I’m sure most people are loyal to their employer when they have great leadership. The biggest issue is that leadership of schools change like coaches in a lot of schools which prompts the coaches to leave as well. I have several coaching buddies that have changed jobs because of the district hiring but-cases as principal.
-
Pretty sure he was referring to the district administrators not Raleigh high school
-
I completely understand the loyalty point, but it’s not a loyalty issue with most young coaches. It’s the desire to move up and the willingness to do what you have to do to get to the ultimate goal(head coach). If you don’t make your goals happen, they will remain simply goals and nothing else. Plus the old time loyalty stuff doesn’t matter to employers anymore. They will have you replaced before your funeral.
-
Well then allow me to rephrase my question to fit your post. What makes it a bad look for a coach to move around? I'm sure there are a lot of coaches out there that would love to be able to stay at one place, get promotions, and become the head coach. That's just not out the coaching profession typically works especially for younger guys try to reach the top level. Wouldn't you move that much if you had a better opportunity waiting?
-
I cannot argue that those three coaches might be good fits, but where does everyone get this idea that if a coach moves around it means he is bad at his job? Wouldn't you move/change jobs if you got a promotion, raise, better benefits, or puts you closer to home? I have seen that said on several different threads and cannot get on board with that being a reason that a coach is bad. If you look at the career of some of the best coaches of all time, you will see that they moved around at the beginning of their career.

I talked to a guy that knows Jimbo really well and he told me that Jimbo said that he did not apply. It sounds like maybe the superintendent contacted him without Jimbo applying
-
I honestly don't know which way I would go with the hire. Pros and Cons with all three. We all know Jimbo is a good coach and great weight room guy, but we all saw what could happen with him. Fortenberry has head coaching experience at Richton, but it didn't go very well year one 8-4, year two 6-6 , and year three 2-9. Hood is very familiar with Tville and the players, but he has never been a head coach.
-
So does that make Jimbo even more of a candidate at Tville or does that mean he is the next guy at Philly?
-
That is true, but I don’t see him leaving again. Like you said money talks tho
-
I also heard that the OC from Taylorsville is trying to get back to the coast and should be a candidate
-
I don't think anyone would blame him for trying to get out of the town/city of Moss Point. I was just thinking that at least the admin at Moss Point wants to win and are willing to support the program. Harrison Central has good athletes and facilities, but something is holding them back. That hold has to be coming from within the program right?
-
I wasn't saying that you are wrong. just simply giving my opinion I agree that Moss Point is on a downward swing, but do you really think the administration will suddenly change to allow Feaster to have a chance to win?
-
I have been wrong before, but I don't know why either one of those guys would leave their current programs. Coach King has made it clear that he wants to stay at Greene County for a while. He bought a house and said to have put down roots here after he left for PRCC and all the bad that turned him right back to GC. Feaster will have better athletes and a better chance of winning at Moss Point
-
I would be willing to bet good money that your 100% correct
-
I heard it was supposed to be the first of this week but that didn't happen. It seems like schools are taking a really long time to hire head coaches this year
-
That would be the one across from the correctional facility, and unless you have been to the facility nobody from Madison would know about it
-
I would too. Could you imagine interviewing for a management position at Walmart and the door greeter, stock boy, and buggy man were all part of it?
-
You must be from Raleigh or Mize the way you hate on Tville. From somebody that is from Tville, I’ve never seen you post anything positive about it. I know we all have our doubts/complaints, but you don’t see me on here constantly bashing Greene County.
-
I was told by the father of someone who interviewed that it was the principals, consular, and three players. Either way that is a major red flag for anybody including young coaches with some sense.
-
I still haven’t seen any hard evidence of your claim. Maybe you’re the one who doesn’t know how IP stuff works
