  1. I have been completely wrong about A&M. They are similar to the 2018 State team. No way should be they be where they are but yet there they are. Still playing ball and guaranteed no worse than tied for fifth in the nation when it is all said and done with a chance to be still even better.
  2. Too bad they did not call the new stadium Johnny Rosenblatt.
  3. Arkansas should have saved some runs for Monday. I like Ole Miss in the match up Monday. Sometimes it is hard to follow up a seventeen run game. I think runs will be at premium Monday and that will favor Ole Miss. Texas over A&M. Notre Dame over Oklahoma. Stanford over Auburn. Notre Dame and Ole Miss will be 2-0 come Monday evening. A&M and Auburn will be two & Q.
  4. Regardless of what happens in the OM-Auburn game, a SEC team will be in the catbird seat in that bracket. I think Ole Miss beats Auburn tonight. R-Can-Saw has been impressive today.
  5. Texas, had not been for Will Bednar, would have probably won it last year. I agree they are probably the favorite on their side. Could be a Arkansas-Texas Final. But if Ole Miss wins their first two games , I believe they will win it all. A big IF but very much possible. A&M as the 5 seed just does not seem even possible. I think they go two and Q. ND probably goes two and Q. Just don’t see them duplicating last weekend again. But if they advance I will be pulling for them. Like their coach and that program. Class acts all the way. If it comes down to OM-ND, I will pull for both teams and be happy for whoever wins it. Like 83 noted, just the opposite of the above will probably happen.
  6. 83, of course on the big stage, a pitcher may emerge from the pack to lead their squad to a NC. But overall it feels like the offenses are at decided advantage this year. While there may be a few low scoring games, I think for the most part a team is going to have to score 5+ runs to win any given game. Even though State is not there, I am looking forward to the CWS. It should be fun and entertaining. And as bad as State was this year we were 5-8 against the CWS teams this year. Not great but not terribly bad for the last place team in the league. My gut feeling says Arkansas is going to break through. But if Ole Miss can win their first two games, then look out. You guys will have real legitimate shot to win it.
  7. The CWS starts Friday instead of Saturday. It ends Thursday. So if you lose the first or second game, it is long row to hoe to win your bracket. Pitching depth is going to be way more important this year. The two winners do get off Friday and then the finals are Sat-Sun-Mon. For OM winning the first two games is absolutely critical. I agree that Texas/Stanford/Arkansas are the favorites based on experience. ND will probably flame out. It will be difficult to match what they did in slaying the dragon this past weekend. A&M has confounded most people to this point but I just don’t see them winning here. Auburn has been solid but again I don’t see them advancing to the finals either. Oklahoma has quietly made their way in but again just don’t see them going to the finals. But overall, there is not one clear favorite at all. It is as wide open as it as ever been.
  8. I would give Arkansas the edge right now. Texas & Stanford as well (if they both make it) because experience is crucial there. No way State wins the CWS last year if it had not been our third straight time to Omaha. Experience is a big factor.
  9. Notre Dame did the impossible. Not only did they beat Tennessee, they also united the other 13 teams against a fellow SEC team. Tennessee was a bunch of douche bags led by their number 1 douche bag coach. Notre Dame, no less. That is like the Saints winning the Super Bowl.
  10. I am guessing that Coach Bianco is safe at least for a couple of more years. Great job by Ole Miss. Just outstanding 5 game stretch here to win the Regional/Super Regional. MST, don’t sell short sweeping USM on the road by a combined score of 15-0. Very impressive and Southern had a tremendous team this year. Omaha is wide open. If Arkansas makes it they will be tough. But as 83 noted, there will not be a clear favorite. ND is going to be a handful but they may have a hard time duplicating the effort against Tennessee again in Omaha.
  11. Agreed. Of course, still have play these last couple of innings. But zeros don’t cut it on the scoreboard.
  12. Down goes Tennessee. I knew ND was going to be tough. Just like I said after last year, UT’s little stadium was not going to intimidate them. They were ready for the moment. Kind of like the State women playing UCONN the second time around a few years back. They were ready for the moment. A bit different circumstances but a parallel nonetheless. Baseball will humble the best of teams.
  13. Good question MST. Certainly problematic in that you hate to see that much turnover. But that seems to be where all college sports are headed. Basically a free for all with the loose transfer rule and NIL. I personally think it is bad overall for all the sports. But back to State, when you finish last in the conference with a losing record, I presume it is not surprising to see some turnover in the roster. It was a weird year. Hopefully one or two these players end up staying at State. But I don’t blame any player for looking at leaving for more playing time. We will see how it plays out next year. And of course we will be on the receiving end of some transfers as well. But in the grand scheme, I have no idea what might be going on inside the program with regard to the issue.
  14. And 83, you are correct about Arkansas. If they make it to Omaha, they will be a battle tested team that very well may win it all.
  15. Heck of a comeback by Texas to stay alive against East Carolina. Tennessee crushed ND today and will probably win tomorrow. But I am pulling for the Irish to pull off the impossible. Tennessee is just about the most unlike able team in the history of the SEC. For the first time ever, I believe the entire conference is pulling for Notre Dame to beat a fellow conference member. And they have done it entirely to themselves.
  16. One thing about it. Losing 10-0 is the same as 3-2. Lots of momentum with OM though but tomorrow will be a new day. I was completely wrong about A&M. Thought they would crash and burn but they did not. Kudos to them!!!
  17. You guys already know what I said previously. ND is not going to be intimidated by UT’s tiny stadium plus they are a very good team. They proved that last year. There is no pressure on them. UT with their arrogance has set themselves for a huge fall over the cliff. Obviously, they are capable of winning two in a row. But the problem is, when you act over the top with classless actions, whiny immature behavior, the umpires are going to really be on the lookout and possible interactions they generally overlook are going to be scrutinized heavily. This us against the WORLD mentality works fine when you are winning but not so well when you lose. Frustration sets in and you tend start making mistakes and things can unravel from there. Will be interesting today to see what happens. Karma in baseball has a way of coming full circle and humbling those who have already made plans for Omaha prematurely.
  18. USM has a deep pitching staff. So that lends itself to a team not being very flashy. The match up with Ole Miss is going to be terrific.
  19. Basically speaking, there should be one School District Office in each county to administer ALL the schools in that county. The amount of duplication in offices that in some cases are less than a mile apart is completely ridiculous. And then some of the positions that they create to protect a poor principal by moving them to the central office is absurd. They have a created their own little kingdoms where jobs are protected and poor administrators/teachers and not nearly enough money goes into the classroom where it is needed. The system is completely broke. Then throw in the complete lack of parental support on teaching kids basic manners, respect, behavior etc. It is no wonder, with a few exceptions, that public schools are failing badly today. OTOH, you see home schooling, Catholic Schools and other private schools are growing because they operate they way a school should operate.
  20. Five SEC teams in the Final Sixteen. All five could potentially make the CWS.
  21. Tennessee does not have a gimme at all. Last year I thought ND was the toughest team we played throughout the Tournament including the CWS. After playing at Dudy Noble last year, Tennessee’s tiny stadium will not intimidate them at all this year.
  22. Absolutely awesome for Mississippi!!! With State winning it last year and now we are guaranteed to have another team in Omaha this year. It is great for college baseball in this state. The atmosphere is going to be unbelievable in Hattiesburg this weekend!!! I have no idea who wins. USM has better pitching but OM’s bats are on fire and pitching has gotten better. Southern is at home so it should Wild and Wooly this weekend.
  23. Great win by USM!!!! Ole Miss is blowing AZ out 19-6. Finish that out and this weekend’s SR is going to be fantastic!!!
  24. USM wins 8-4. Regional is not over til it is over. Could be a heck of a game tomorrow.
  25. Tremendous win by Ole Miss. against MIA today. Elko with the big hit. Obviously I am a State guy but I am an Elko fan. The guy is a gamer and someone you would want on your team. Agree with 83 that USM, while they still have a tough hill to climb, are more than capable of doing so. LSU has been gritty but they also are a flawed ball club and tonight’s game is no gimme at all for them.
