Yep. GC/Picayune and PRC/Hattiesburg would be rematches from last yr. Then other two matchups are Gautier/West Jones Terry/Hancock
-
That's a good way of looking at it. If the chalk holds on this, it would send Gautier to West Jones and PRC back to Hattiesburg again. Would we get George County again too?
-
Tiebreakers. Would have to see who beat who and how bad. Remember you only get 12pts on a tiebreaker. So on a tiebreaker, a 20pt on field victory would only be a 12pt victory in solving a tiebreaker. I see Gautier beating Goula. Hancock will beat Long Beach unless Hancock wants to rest a few guys and not risk injury. Picayune could do the same as them and Hancock are already locked in at no.1 and no. 2 seeds. But I see Goula and Long Beach out. And since Gautier beat PRC they would be the 3 and PRC the 4.
-
I still think Hancock would have the 2 seed if they lost to Long Beach, so really it's about determining the 3 & 4 seeds and who gets left out.
-
It looks like Pacagoula and Gautier are playing an elimination game this Thursday. What would happen if Long Beach beats Hancock and Picayune beats PRC? That would leave PRC at 2-3, Long Beach at 2-3, and the winner of Goula/Gautier at 2-3. Who else would get left out besides the loser of Goula/Gautier? This thing is really unsettled isn't it?

That makes sense. Hmmmm.......so 5 team regions seems to have resulted in scheduling challenges for coaches. Another great reason to go back to 6 classes and boost the number of teams in a region back to 6. Sounds like the excitement was really increased by this move.

Going into the game Saturday I think State had 8 starters out on both sides. Swan was having a pretty good game and the offense was consistently better before his injury. Every team goes through injuries, but losing a QB the likes of KT is hard to overcome. No one has a back up of that quality ready to play, especially in the portal ear. Even Ohio State QB play dropped off and they lost. This was a good football team prior to KT's injury. Look at the dominating wins over Minn, SC, and Mizzu. With KT State is probably 5-3 at worst. Lebby needs to make a change at OL coach. Loderhoult's recruiting hasn't been good enough to overcome his deficiency as oline coach. There has been improvement overall since Lebby got here. The defensive talent when he got here was terrible with a few exceptions, they are improving under Arnett. As bad as the Oline has been when they play just decent, we have seen over the last two years what this offense can do. We MUST go get some dudes up front on both sides of the ball for next year. Then if it isn't better, make a change. I really don't think KT stays without Lebby, with Lebby I would put it at 95% he stays.
-
Yep. Both turned Raleigh down. As did Ittawamba AHS
-
There isn't an easy way to get to Natchez either, especially from Picayune. I remember when we were in the region with Natchez. It was charter buses every week LOL.
-
Just think what Natchez goes thru every year midweek when they have to travel to Sumrall Laurel and South Jones. BRUTAL
-
Great post. This honestly makes the most sense by far.
-
I know football coaches who are now dropping competition because they know the opponent will be a very good team the next few years. just weak and running from good comp
-
Oxford and Tupelo would have a large reduction in travel if they were put in a 7 team region with the desoto schools. Starkville and Meridian are both kind of isolated. I don’t think you can ask Harrison Central to go to Brandon, Meridian, NWR for mid week baseball, softball, basketball games. I think this would make the most sense. Region 1 (7) Hernando Desoto Central Lewisburg Southaven Horn Lake Oxford Tupelo Region 2 (5) Germantown Madison Clinton Starkville Murrah Region 3 (5) Brandon NWR Meridian Oak Grove Petal Region 4 (7) Harrison West Harrison D’Ville Gulfport Ocean Springs Biloxi St Martin
-
They would have 4 Edwards, Northside, Charleston, Riverside, Plamer
-
7 others in MHSAA were open including Scott Central and Hazlehurst.
-
I do think State can make improvements regarding the offensive line and coaching of the offensive line. Loadholt has been as effective as a lead weight on fishing line. At least he's done what a lead weight should do if that's any consolation to you.
-
I think common sense dictates that he gets one more year with the expectation that we are going to dramatically strengthen the roster with enough depth to withstand injuries and especially upgrade the offense line. Defensively I think we will be in good shape going forward with the same expectation of developing better depth. Given all that has happened this year, it is easy for fans to pile on and be sarcastic and demeaning where he is concerned. IMO that does not help the situation any. I am going to hang in there with this team and see how the year finishes out. Growing up in the 1960’s when we had zero success (with the exception of 1963), we are light years better today even with the current struggles this team is having currently. As I mentioned before, a win Saturday will do wonders for everyone.

Will a 3 loss SEC team make the playoffs this year?
Bulldogs4 replied to rebmus's topic in Mississippi College Sports
The SEC’s non conference record is almost flawless. I think only two losses to date so I think that will carry a lot of weight in the selection process. I think you could see one or possibly even two SEC teams with three losses in the playoff just based off schedule strength. -
I don't see any way that 4 doesn't have 7 again. No one down here wants that travel for all their sports. West Harrison and Harrison Central are the same distance for pretty much everyone, while d'Iberville is the most centrally located and equal for everyone except St. Martin.
-
That's right. The stance is soft. Like Lebby standing on quicksand soft.
-
Make the Lebby Layups. It's just that simple.
